Vexor is a beast. And everyone knows it so they generally over ship or blob the crap outta them. and it is a pretty simple ship though.

Charge and fire/launch drones.

Arbitrator however is and always has been IMO the amarr cruiser king. The versitily of it is just un matched in the T1 cruiser line up for both pvp and pve activities in all areas of space. If you ever just wanted to fly one boat that can be pretty much usefull in 95% of all situations anywhere. Fly the Arbi.

And it is by far the sexiest Cruiser in game!!

That is the Way, the Tao.

Balance is everything.

I've got to say, i agree it's very sexy. I've always thought it looked awesome, I used it for missions for a long time mostly because of that.

I'm pretty clueless on it's performance in pvp though. Would it be bad form to fly it with no point, just lots of TDs? not solo obviously, but in a fleet?

In a fleet you wouldn't really use an Arbitrator, and in small gang you always want a point. Personally I'd go for for a 1600 plate, damage control, EANM, 2 DDA in lows, 10mn MWD, scram, 2x TD, and 4 small neuts in the highs. Gives a solid tank and good versatility, and 2 bonused TD is enough to neuter most gunboats completely.

I prefer the arbitrator over the vexor.

It takes some odd thinking to make it shine in pvp.
It's a hell of a ghetto medic with DPS when in mixed gangs of T1 cruisers.
Defender Missiles with a shield fit.

Although the armor fleet EW ship with some dps is it's main PvP function.

For PvE it has a big bag of tricks too.
The TD can help it speed tank.
Or you can max DPS with another shield fit.

Vexor has it's positives, Especially on the gank / alpha end of PvP.
This is a very popular aspect of eve as the rest of this thread shows.

Gila is the goal for cruiser drone use.
Arbitrator will get you there faster.

Thank you. I meant small gang, not great on the terminology for pvp. This fit sounds good. one thing I'm wondering, what about if I get drones thrown back at me?

That's what the tank is for :) If you're dying because there are too many drones on you chances are your gang is in a losing fight and you're be screwed anyway. You get around 32k EHP with the fit I suggested so it will last quite awhile under fire unless there's a huge amount of dps on the field in which case as I said before you'd probably dead no matter what you fit.

Here's the fit I suggested:
[Arbitrator, PvP]

1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Damage Control II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I
Warp Scrambler II
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I

Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I

Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I

Hammerhead II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5
Warrior II x5
Hammerhead II x3
Warrior II x4

Lots of spare drones in case they get blown up and some ECM drones incase things go bad you can use them to escape, dps is low for a cruiser @ 351 with Hammerheads, but you thats the sacrifice you make for using an Arbi, in return you get excellent ewar capability. To give you an idea how brutal the tracking disruption is, you can disrupt a 45k+10km range (Mega Pulse with Scorch, one of the furthest hitting turrets in small scale PvP) down to 7+1km with range scrips essentially gimping it so badly it can't even hit the edge of scram :)

Ok here is a little tip, If your cruise can be armor tanked without being a massive special snow flake.

Dual rep it, not only is it quite good, its also by far the most fun way to tank ^^

Agreed, though on cruisers, dual rep + plate is pretty dang good too.

You are trying to compare apples with oranges. The comparison is not valid.
The Arbitrator is not a DPS ship, but an EWAR platform.
The Vexor is not an EWAR platform, but a DPS ship.

The new SoE ships are made with these two races in mind and have large drone bays and bonuses so you might want to check them out.

I have only skimmed the specs, but they do seem nice. Currently my favorite ships are the Ishtar (for the drones) and the Force Recon (for the stealth) ships so I am looking forward to the new SoE additions.

Actually, the new Caracal has turned out to be pretty damned good, especially as a frigate hunter, when equipped with RLML's. Not sure how true that's going to be in a couple of weeks, though. Have you seen the proposed changes?Shocked

You can shield fit the arbitrator for over 28k with more than 500 dps with ease.

It won't have any EW but it can be used as a pure dps machine just not with armor groups.

It would rely on fleet logi to stay alive and has a much higher resist compared to armor version of similar health.

It's a very good ship to learn on due to the lasers, missiles, drones, EW, shield or armor tank all in one ship.

Vexor = Drone/Blaster gank DPS.

Arbitrator = Jack of all trades.

how can we compare a combat cruiser to an EWAR support one ?
this is just silly like comparing a zealot and an arazu ^^
