So the new bastion module on marauders will be I think heavily used by ratters in null-sec complexes [EDIT] and in bubbled ratting systems.

Here are some reasons I think, as experienced combat prober, I can say.

1) bastion mode does NOT increase marauder's sig size - it will still take a minute+ to scan him down among many probe results. Plenty of time for him to turn it off, and warp out of a complex.

2) In bastion mode he is immune to EWAR. So he cant be tackled or sensor dampened or jammed. Any light probing ship that lands on him, he will just kill.

3) All ratting systems are heavily bubbled. Tackle boat has to hold him long enough for gank squad to burn through bubbles, and even heavy t3 tackle will melt under marauder's fire quickly, especially is he has heavy neuts.

So this means marauders are in effect, only vulnerable to larger black ops drops (and even then you cant light a cyno in a pocket), and big nullified t3 gangs.

I propose:

1) bastion mode increases sig radius of a battleship like the mwd (so he can be found faster)
2) Combat probes need to cycle faster

Problem:

This Immune to Ewar and microjump drive combination.... Only a scram will hold a marauder, means going point-blank vs. 1000+ dps ship with heavy neut and a long faction/officer web.... I think not even a probing t3 can take that for very long (And I have several, I know). Overloaded trus sansha scram range is less then and overloaded web.

And if he fits 2-3 warp stabs, thats it, he cant be caught. Bubble? microjump out. Long point? microjump away. Scram? Kill the scrammer.

I think thats a bit too overpowered, being vulnerable only to t3s and black ops.

Running nullsec plexes is not ratting. Plexes occur outside designated ratting systems and otherwise bubbled or safe places, and often outside the area of good intel.

On to your actual point, it has never really been possible to scan down a plex runner and point him and kill him if you didn't have the plex pre-scanned. An alert pilot will see you coming, will see you in the plex behind him, and very likely be aligned and ready to warp as soon as you land on grid in the room he is in, if he decides to wait that long. The new marauders are no exception to this.

As for MJD's, the issues you raise apply equally to non-marauders that also have utility highslots.
