LOL typical of a Goon, This is exactly what you guys do. Make recyclable Catalyst alts and gank freighters in high sec. You just don't get caught as CCP supports ganking in a major way. They needed assets removed fro the game. If massively increased ganking wasn't part of there recent business model Tier 3 BC and tags for sec status would not exist.

And BTW for the people in this thread talking about you only die if you AP. Fly a freighter. Scouts, webbing alts etc. it doesn't matter if a gank crew sets there sites on you your dead. they will push you around with a Mach/Tempest in till there crew lands on grid in less than 60 mill worth of destroyers and pop your billion isk freighter.

Nothing will change CCP wants it this way. Assets destroyed in space are removed from the game. It puts money in there pocket.

Bolded your really terrible assumption, recycling alts with neg sec status; which they will have, having been used for ganking and stuff, is a fast track to the ban hammer. CCP don't like it, and will swing the hammer if they catch you doing it.

As for the freighter issues

  • Don't AP/AFK
  • Don't use choke points if you don't have to.
  • Don't pack it full of shiny stuff. Use multiple trips or couriers.
  • Know thy enemy and set standings so that they stand out in local. Gankers and nullsec players don't nonchalantly hang around for no reason.
  • If you get targeted by a frigate at a gate, and you're full of bling, you're going to have a bad day within a few jumps. Dock up for a while.
  • Do pay attention (see above).
  • Do consider using people like Red Frog or PushX to move your stuff, outsource your risk. Collateral is your friend.
  • Did I mention DON'T AP/AFK?.

Go ahead and suicide gank with Catalyst alts and recycle them. Let's see how long your account lasts.

I'm yet to be ganked, but thanks for the assumption. Lol

Right, so you don't know a goddamn thing about suicide ganking and are just posting crap you made up, and when called on it, you post more bullshit.

You might as well post with an NPC corp alt and complete the trifecta.

Here's a bit of a rambling thought.

You know how banks typically hire ex-hackers to test vulnerabilities in their security system? The premise is that they take advice on how to best defend themselves from someone who, being well practiced at attacking such things, would be in the best position to know what defenses are adequate or not.

But miners, and to a lesser extent haulers, are like banks that copy the security system of other banks that were hacked. So I asked myself, why not take the advice from the people who are in a position to know?

At first I thought that it's because they don't trust the advice. EVE is known for skullduggery after all, and from the view of a player, I would be wary of anything someone tells you is a guaranteed fact. But that's really giving too much credit to people who can't be asked to orbit a roid or not use autopilot.

So then I realized that I was going about it the wrong way, by treating them as players. They're not real players. And that's when I figured it out. Why they won't take advice from the one group of people who would best know how to stop ganks.

They take it personally. It's an affront, a bruise to their ego to suggest (let alone demonstrate) that what they already do is not sufficient. This is what leads to the lack of objectivity, the inability to take a step back and look at it from another perspective. So, just to spite "the gankers", they repeat the failing strategy over and over again, somehow expecting a different result, but their actions doom them to a circle of failure.

Thoughts?

The advice is good, and has been passed out by gankers since before the glory days of hulkaggedon. It's the source of the advice that they don't trust. Because it's come from gankers, and might involve some effort, the advice is somehow flawed and must have a loophole the gankers can exploit, collective paranoia in action.

Its threads like these that make me smile.

Leet WHer gets ganked in highsec by common highsec gankers, then posts whinethread in GD.

Posts terribad idea on how to 'fix' ganking by being able to buy 'rights' to gank..but wants to keep consequences.... newsflash..if you have the rights, you don't have any consequences...

Goes on to post how leet they are by killing test in a WH..but they themselves cant survive the 'safest' region in the game.

Oh GD...you are in rare form with this one.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

CCP Stealth created this issue with the "Rebalance". First they buffed miners due to the cry about excessive, cheap ganking, but then they buffed the ships used for ganking.

So...."Working as intended".

Better solution:

1) Forbid biomassing any character that has any outstanding kill-rights against them.

2) Institute permanent police records. Every time CONCORD has to come to hi-sec to blap someone their maximum security rating goes down a notch. Too many ganks and they'll never be welcome in hi-sec again ever.

3) Negative security ratings now carry over to recycled characters. Biomass cloning is no longer a free pass.

While this won't end ganking entirely, it does mean that your gankers will be forced to spend a lot more time getting out of the CONCORD hole that they dig for themselves.

The beauty of this? In no way will this affect real pirates. You know, the guys who actually live in low-sec and are willing to face the dangers that are supposed to go with being a hardened pirate? This would only affect all the cowards who like to pretend at being pirates but don't have the spine for the real thing - a.k.a. "gankers."

Which goes entirely against the CCP philosophy of not having any in game action have permanent results.

Just wanted to take a moment to point out that you already can't biomass characters with negative security status. This is a persistent myth that I've seen all throughout this thread. Most gankers either use their -10 main or have a permanent -10 alt. Sec status in highsec doesn't truly affect ganking - you use a scout to find targets, undock your -10 guys, quickly warp in and gank, then die and warp off with your pods.

Also, all of these arguments are complete bullshit. Ganking has already been sufficiently nerfed, thank you very much.
