EVE Online Rubicon is being released tomorrow, the 19th of November! To bridge the gap and ease the wait, CCP Fozzie has written yet another dev blog, this time talking about the multitudes of balancing sweeps coming to ships near you with the expansion.

did the "overheat all the things" for midslot modules (likely including painters, TC, sebo, damps, TD's and maybe more) make it into Rubicon 1.0?
edit - i can't find any reference for this but I swear I heard a dev, I think fozzie, talking about it. Probably on a Twitch stream.
edit edit - found it in Fozzie+Rise's Eve Vegas presentation: 'We're also gonna be doing a pass on overheating mechanics in the game for Rubicon... we're also gonna be allowing you to overheat a bunch of modules that you couldn't overheat before." see 11m17s

Maybe its just me but I find the whole Rubicon expansion quite underwhelming.

Well think of it like this.

Exploration is expanded, ghost sites in all space.
Sma's drop crap (Hurray wormhole combat)
Poco's highsec gone, more wardecs with a purpose happen
Interdictors no longer suck
Interceptors actually intercept
Sound actually works
Framework for dx11 (graphics)
Fixes to fleet organization
Personal storage space
Gate camp/station camp improvements (cyno inhib)
Marauder bastion mode (making both missions and incursions more interesting)
Ewar frigates actually useful now.
New char select screen
Build able implants

Not bad for an expansion.

+ ever-evolving recoding and groundwork for a lot more i'm sure.

For the most part a decent expansion.

Still some gripes I have with it though.

The golem should have lost the TP bonus and been replaced with an application bonus like the others (ie explo radius, or velocity)

I also would have preferred the marauders just get t2 resists or equivalents without "bastion" mode to be more in line with what a t2 ship should be and reserved that mode for huge boost in tank reps, dmg range and application, and ewar.

Edit:

I also think the eris should have a falloff bonus to be more in line gallente than an optimal bonus.

It's been bumped from the main release since I wanted to have more time for feedback and sisi testing. Expect more info soon after release.

i'll just say this. i think the optimal range bonus on the stratios is silly. With SOE being healers and combat exploration and the fact if you are in deep space usually dont have a station to heal drones... i would think that instead of a lazor optimal range bonus a bonus to armor RR mods rabge would have made alot more sense.

its pretty much standard to fit a RR on a 0.0 drone ship anyways so why not make a bonus for it too?

could lead to some neat complexing groups too like duel RR domi's people do to do 10/10 complexes

I think after these rebalances and those to BS and Caps that you should let things settle for a while - players need to learn what all the ships' characteristics are and the ships should have a settled character over a long period. This is how the ships become renowned over time (like the old Drake, etc).

Changing the command ship models was a stupid and unnecessary change.

Give the Stratios it's 5th drone back for the love of God.

Aside from that - all looks pretty great with the ships of Eve these days.
