Goonswarm peasantry at work, newb wants to join corp? Quick to the scam mobile!
All jokes aside, get creative you unimaginative bricks.

Drakhlan > Sup dude
Goon > Hello drakhlan
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Are you super busy?
Goon > no go ahead man
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Well i was wondering what your demands on SP and such were when recruiting for this corp?
Goon > we dont require sp we just require you to apply on our website :D
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Oh ok :P, I didn't find any link the recruitment app so I don't really know where to apply xD
Drakhlan Reavusorov > What type of ships do you guys usually fly? I mean like Gallente/Caldari etc
Goon > we ask all our pilots to apply here: http://goonfleet.net/?action=apply
Goon > we fly depending on the situatuin
Drakhlan Reavusorov > I see
Goon > if you would before we continue apply on that website
Drakhlan Reavusorov > I'm currently stuck with this corp/alliance that only uses Minmatar stuff, so it's kind of a bummer xD
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Yeah i can apply right now
Drakhlan Reavusorov > I need some sort of a sponsorship code :P?
Goon > f9a9c6e884271361
Drakhlan Reavusorov > thank you
Goon > 027d77b7d7441361
Goon > second one sorry first one is a old one
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Oh ok :D, my eyes bulged for a while there
Goon > im a code dispenser *beep*
Drakhlan Reavusorov > There we go, application sent in :P
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Hahah
Drakhlan Reavusorov > i got this ID back
Drakhlan Reavusorov > 1c292d6fc8eb6e6f
Goon > ok I am going to take awhile to look though your background, so it will take afew minutes
Drakhlan Reavusorov > It's all good, I'm right here ready for any questions :P
Goon > do you wan tthe good news or the bad news first?
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Any news is good news :P
Drakhlan Reavusorov > But pick the one you think is suitable :P
Goon > the good news is that we will take you on and train you up to be able to pvp with us.
Drakhlan Reavusorov > That is extremely good news :D
Goon > the bad news is that we have a reason to believe you could be a spy alt, in these situation we usally ask for a secuity deposit of 400million isk, this will cover the cost of losing a ship if you happen to awox.
Drakhlan Reavusorov > This sounds like something familiar i read on the forums <.<
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Besides i don't have the capacity to awox anything over my current stage xD
Goon > well its the best deter from spies as a spy wouldnt want to invest into joining a good corp.
Drakhlan Reavusorov > I'd probably invest 400 mill, since it's quite reasonable
Drakhlan Reavusorov > But I don't even own 400 mill yet xD
Goon > I cannot do anything to that price its a corp policy we ask it from everyone.
Goon > it is refunded in 30days if you stay within good conduct
Drakhlan Reavusorov > Quite tempting, but being a forum browser (noticing the scams performed this way), and being broke, I guess i'm gonna keep truckin
Goon > ok spy
Goon > bb <3

Goonswarm runs recruitment scams?!

For a game that allows scamming, and the pushing of legal boundaries, unlike so many other MMO's out there.
By an alliance that is renowned for being "the bad guys", I am not impressed. In fact, I am disgusted.
Better scams have been seen in games like Runescape or World of warcraft, and those are scams easily surpassed.
Goonswarm Federation? More like Goonfarts with no dedication.

These logs have be doctored. Please post the original logs, or we should probably just assume you made up the whole thing.

What, is it no longer considered reasonable for Goonswarm to exercise basic operational security by dissuading AWOXers?

A resourceful person could have come up with the funds. This policy does in fact discourage spies and awoxers. But as we see, it also discourages people who cannot think of resourceful ways to find the isk when such a rare opportunity presents itself.

I wonder if there's a forgotten alliance out there made up almost entirely of GSF recruiting rejects? I don't mean this offensively, just people who did not pass the entry requirements is all.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

1. This is the original log. (Name of Goonfag excluded)
2. There is no way that I could awox something worth 400 mill+ yet. (I'm a newbie for gods sake).
3. A resourceful person does not pay some made up entry fee, let alone commits to grind up the isk for it separately.
4. If you are ready to be a spy for someone, you probably have an allegiance with some other alliance, hence you probably DO have the resources to blow on this made up entry fee.
5. Get off your high horse dickhead, "sup dude" works, because it's a game, not an actual corporation.

/agree.

Any corp that asks for a "security deposit" is usually full of crap and your in the process of being scammed. Dont pay this stuff. There are plenty of good corps out there that wont require this. Hell, on some of the apps they straight out TELL you if you were asked to pay a fee for application, your being scammed.

-- That being said.... anyone who falls for this most mundane of scams deserves it.

/disagree: (point 5)

Some people work extremely hard to present a professional image with their corp and have placed a great amount of time and effort into such. "Sup dood" may not be what they are looking for.... and the most successful corps model successful business.

Goons public boast their recruitment scam... The only out-of-the-ordinary thing here: the person applying didn't fall for the scam. Usually people informed enough to spot the scam, also are informed enough to read up on the proper (non-scam) ways to join.

I'll agree on your opinion for point 5, I did rush it a bit.
What I was actually trying to say is, I do the casual greeting because it usually helps stay off the "spy radar".
I am not a spy, but I comply with the suspicions, this form of greeting is meant to render the recruiter into thinking
that I'm just another illiterate who couldn't spy on the corp even if he tried his hardest. It makes the recruiter feel more in control.
To clarify, I go out of my league to get to where I'm going. The more down to earth, the better the chances.

It may be a simple scam but sometimes simplicity is the best policy. Especially when they make metric f-tons off this one in particular. You can rest assured that they undoubtedly have more complex scams out there that would be to your liking. They just didn't deem a noob worthy of such effort.

Metric F-tons?, nice equation, statistics please.
And if they did have bigger and better scams that pulled in way more ISK, they would already have been widespread all over the forums, considering veteran players are probably also active forum members. Good scams require constant plotting/updating. So I doubt it.
What I think, is that you should blow off steam like everybody else, by grabbing a handful of paper towels and your special folder.
