High sec: 1090
Low sec: 817
0.0: 3524 (of which 230 are not connected)
W-space: 2499

High sec + Low sec = Empire: 1907
Empire + 0.0 = K-space: 5431
K-space + W-space = Total: 7930

Empire, the next new world order.

Those numbers don't reveal how many High Sec systems are 'islands' isolated from normal high sec though. I know of a few, so the actual 'high sec space' is probably more like 800-900 with a few additional islands that require constant low sec travel. So can't really be included in the standard 'high sec space' count given why people normally count high sec systems.

Semantics. If it spawns CONCORD, it's high sec, regardless of what it's surrounded by.

Except the normal reason people count 'high sec' systems is to whinge about 'carebears' never going anywhere risky.

And anyone living on a high sec Island is almost certainly not a carebear since non of the islands have any significant trade hubs meaning those people will be making regular low sec trips at the very least if not actually spending most of their time in low sec and simply home basing on an island.

So it's worth having a separate count of the interconnected main high sec area's & high sec islands, as they are two significantly different play style area's for the most part.

It depends on what your definition of 'Highsec' is.

…it also looks like those numbers are based on truncated values rather than the actual security levels.

He probably did a DB search for systems >0.5, but highsec actually starts at 0.45, which the game rounds up to 0.5. So:

• 1,212 highsec
• 695 lowsec
• 3,294 nullsec
• 2,498 w-space
• 230 dev-space

You're joking, right? I spent a not-brief-enough amount of time in Solitude, and they were the worst carebears I'd met.

Being on an island makes it more difficult for the predators, as well, and when you have tens of thousands of easy meals at ready access, you generally don't waste the time or resources to go to an island with only a few hundred targets.

Those predators who did, though, were able to absolutely gorge themselves, though.
