Any kind of bickering for any reason about this issue is irrelevant to the suffering of the people. We should concentrate on helping, not on personal differences.

So, how do we help?

Because they locked my thread, which was started before this one and was more focused, while they kept open this thread that was a spin off with bumps and arguments. Unsurprisingly enough, this thread keeps going with bumps and arguments.

Someone with your corp name should already be pushing for this Big smile

On a more serious note - it's what makes Eve different from WoW. The sense of community is something that keeps me here. By not acting on this CCP is diluting that. Does that answer your question?

The only time Blizzard did a charity drive, they raised 1,9 million for japan and that was without even allowing the players to use thier in-game currency. All of that was brand new money injected insetad of having to re-wire money already @blizz from previous sales to a charity account. Now imagine if in-game gold would of been available as a form of payment...

You can diss on the WoW community all you want but get your fact straight first.

You can check it out by yourself, you'll see some controversy but it was overall more positive and constructive.

I am sorry, I asked for permission to disclose the reply and got told that I cannot Cry

Anyway it was not a nice "we are going to do it full steam by tomorrow" but not a "no way, forget it" either.

I see your point, though if I recall the WoW player base is also significantly larger than ours.

It is also worth noting, I think, that WoW does not operate like eve. Production slots are irrelevant in that game, meaning they probably have fewer account duplication among their core player base, resulting that the number of real people playing WoW being bigger than those of eve to an even bigger degree still.

The disaster commemoration thing quite a nice idea though. perhaps a Red cross ambulance pod deco for larger plex contributors? XD

Anyway people are still sending stuff. Got 2 PLEXes contracted to VAERT EvE to RL relief charity.

Only thing I'd like to kindly ask again is: please contract stuff / send ISK to VAERT not to me!
VAERT is a specific yearly sub account for the only purpose to manage VAERT, it's meant to be checked by CCP whenever they want, all the accounting (and thus cash flows) should go there to make the task easier on them.

A new charity initiative

A little backstory
Since I suppose most don't know what I do in RL: thanks to EvE in general and the Market Discussion forum in particular, I embraced a new course of life.

The M.D. forum gave me the knowledge to become a RL trader and this greatly helped me when my country fell in crysis and I remained unemployed.

The knowledge to do financial stuff made me post a lot of RL trading <=> EvE trading material (the most famous being this thread), some of it has been used by Dr. Ejyo (the CCP Lead Economist) as a basis for some graphs he showcased in the last Fanfest.

It also made me able to start VAERT itself with solid basis and "papers" to provide for a credible charity institution (showcased at Fanfest 2011 by CCP CEO Hilmar).

All of this, only and exclusively thanks to EvE and the EvE players.

They talk bad of EvE community? Pfft!

I am living a comfortable life only because I play EvE.

Going ahead

Since EvE made me become a RL trader and RL traders tend to have / make money, I am going to start a RL charity drive among the RL trading community I am member of.

I will probably not be able to post their dontation receipts or something (they are a secretive bunch) but I am damn going to make them shell some money and do some good, for once in their life.

You can too

I am not the only one who can convince some guys doing this. Many of you are members of RL communities (even "just" forum communities). The very fact you play EvE means you are passionate and probably more capable than average.

You might want to try and do what I am going to do: convince some of your community to donate themselves.
It won't be done through PLEXes but RL cash and it's OK!

Just do it, you can!

Here it comes!

I have tossed the stone in the lake.

Let's see if something will happen.

Here's the screenshot of the RL trading group invitation post to donate for Philippines Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders (in the post called "Croce Rossa Filippine" and "Medici Senza Frontiere".

If this goes just like the previous Plex for aid drives, I will donate at least four Plex.
Just let us know asap when the sign is set to green, ok?

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

Anyone noticed - as I predicted - how CCP devs come copious to silly threads like this one but seem much less active when it's time to support an initiative to save real lives?

That makes me uncomfortable to say it kindly.

The idea is nice, the whole "look at me, I try to help those people but CCP won't let me" has no purpose but to stroke your own ego Vaerah.
But don't worry, you aren't the first to trick yourself into thinking that it's all just for the sake of others. If it were, you'd come up with a thread like this one: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3872597

Yes, it did not take long for your prediction to come true! Ironic and sad, but I suppose this is a game, and CCP is not the same, and we might as well get used to this and stop complaining, and possibly stop maintaining funds for charity.

Any colour you like.
