little advice needed for anti serpentis missions

Hi,

Ive just moved from missioning mostly in matari space to Gallente space, and i've obviously come acroos the serpentis more than i used to, the problem im having is that i seem to spend 90% of my time unable to target anythng due to sensor dampeners.

Ive now equiped 3 signal amplifiers to compensate, but it's nerfed my ability to tank, and is not a great fix for the problem as its basically just moved the problem from a 20km area where i cannot gain lock to a 30km area.

As you can probably guess i shoot from range :)

is there any advice anyone can offer to improve my tactics?

Thanks

I have no problem with serpentis when I'm in Gallente space. You might need to try a different ship. Tell us what you're using and I bet somebody will tell you what the problem is.

His problem seems pretty clear, he is getting the **** sensor damped out of him. This is fairly common.

My solution for sensor dampening was to use a short range setup (blaster proteus) or drone boat (ishtar)

If you don't want to change ships then targetting range scripted sensor booster II's and use survival guide to target sensor damp rats first.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

There's also the option of bringing a friend! This is especially useful if you both fly drone boats - regardless which one of you is getting the focus of attention, the other will be able to target paint something for all the drones to shoot.

Sensor booster + targeting range script into the mid slot.

Signal amps do less than sensor booster. They are nice extra if you have low slots, but if you need more range, like the case of Serpentice damping you, then they are not the best option.

This. I've found that getting under the damps yourself is easier and faster than boosting targeting range. Using a smaller ship also partially makes up for the increased lock time.

Having said that, Blockade is the only Serpentis mission I re-ship for. Outside of that, damps tend to be more annoying than crippling.

ECCM is worth less vs NPC. When you enter the pocket target dampers first starting with the frigs and going up so you can pop as many as possible before they kill your targeting. Then fly right up on the remaining dampers. That's if you are using ACs and AB, If you are using arti one Serps....don't. Brought an arti-mael into blockage once. Got tired of being useless. Came back with a buffer Cane and killed everything with 'gaurdian' in it's name at 5 clicks...

90% of of the time my posts are about something I actually find interesting and want to learn more about. Do not be alarmed.

Thanks guys and gals

my problem mission was blockade. and because im addicted to flying my Bs i decided togo for the super long range option. basically i worked out that if i was outside 120km (ish) they wouldnt be dampening me. so thats what i did. worked pretty well.

on a side note is it just me that finds it odd their sensor dampeners are working at a range the ships normally wouldnt be able to lock on from.....?

thanks again for advice

Yeah, rat Ewar reaches FAR further than player. They don't follow the same rules.

Indeed. Had some gurista rats jam me from about 110 km. Just imagine how much a 100+ km jammer would sell for....

Don't think anyone mentioned ECCM. Sensor damps are countered by Sensor Boosters, ECCM is for ECM.

Funny, I've been toying with the idea of throwing together a token-tanked Rokh just for the purpose post-patch (when it can, you know, fit 425 IIs). I'm still fairly certain that it won't compete with my current solution, but hey, reason to fly a Rokh!

I run serpentis sanctums effortlessly in a nighthawk active tank with specific hardeners and an AB. Just get in close to those damping cruisers and nuke them. Its easy.
