As I was watching on Britain's Film4 channel Brewster’s Millions...again several weeks back I wondered after the films happy ending - I like happy endings in films - how any of us like Brewster would cope with such a huge sum of money with conditions suddenly being dropped in our lap.

Who knows but there could be another you or me in a parallel existence/dimension, and the other you or me could have got the winning ticket in a multi Euro roll over, and the next day you or me get a visit from a lawyer to inform you or me your or my...great great uncle Albert you or I didn't know you or I had, and who your and my family thought was long dead as he had moved west decades ago wasn't dead, but is now and he was a mega billionaire through various profitable ventures when he died, and he's left his whole estate to the other you or me. ...

So, as you or I in a possible parallel existence/dimension are now one of the nouveau riche uber wealthy, through your or my double stroke of really good financial luck I found this site http://most-expensive.com/ for all kinds of things and services that are the most expensive things that money can buy.

I've also found this to give some direction to our other self’s financial good luck http://www.forbes.com/2007/03/06/lux..._0308live.html

And now thanks to having a Euro multi rollover jackpot winning ticket, and great great uncle Albert's will bequest the other you or me could/can now afford all the finer and really expensive material things in life, and we can maintain doing it for the rest of our life without having to do what Brewster had to do, and with the wills conditions as a block for the other you or me to not be as stupid and as spendthrift as Michael Carroll aka king chav was.

I have also found a few similar sites with similar stuff to what’s in the most-expensive web site for high lifers to be able to buy and enjoy.

Somewhere to live

Even mega billionaires need a place to live in, and to hang up and put their expensive clothes in, and park their expensive car in a garage.

Long before I did this post and even longer before I joined DS I have liked looking at pictures and where there was videos of expensive and exclusive property and wealthy peoples things in general as I in this dimension can't afford any of them Sad , and like the above clothes there is a mass of different styles of flats and houses on the market in exclusive areas that only the wealthy can afford, but we all have different tastes.

I have seen some really nice and cosy 1 and 2 bed flats costing a mere half a million to 3 million £ in nice area's of London and Paris and New York ... that I'd be quite happy living in, and some grand multi roomed penthouses and flats all over the world costing 20 to 30 million and houses costing the thick end of up to 100 million, with some over that, and I though they were just awful, and would never contemplate living in them even if I had the money to do so. But then your taste is different to my taste, what I think is awful; you might think yeah that'll do for me.

However, as a mega billionaire thanks to the Euro winning multi roll over ticket, and great great uncle Albert’s (sic) will, you or I other self can now afford some uber expensive property, like this little place in London http://most-expensive.com/home-britain-uk

And for variety one of these places

I find the best way to not hanker over these things is not to look at them.

Would I like to own a yacht? Sure. Do I go looking at yachts? No. I can't afford one so why tease myself?

My PC is five years old. I overclocked the living daylights out of it just to be able to do anything!

I might be a poor-ass scrub but I try to make the best with what I have. I have a roof and I am not starving - my car is legal - it aint so bad.

Here's my taste of the High Life, for the time being, at least. The U.S. is supposed to be out of its recession. But all I've noticed since 2008 is consumer prices going up, public services going down, and income opportunities staying the same or worse.

Getting around

Of course the other you or me won't have to travel around to your or my big posh house and flat/penthouse and

maybe business meetings like the plebeius do, so some exclusive and expensive transportation is required.

Cars

Limousines are usually the mode of road transport that people with serious money go places to when they are not

driving themselves, and surprisingly the top 10 limousines makes you wouldn't normally associate with being a top

10 limousine, especially the one in the No 1 spot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLK3BMce4zo

Personally I wouldn't even have the Merc, and all the other makes of limousines on it are not exclusive enough for

someone with mega billions. The car I'd have to serve as a limousine would be the Rolls Royce Ghost Extended Wheel

Base, even if it is just a BMW 7 series with a RR badge, body and trim, as only a Roller has the sheer presence on

the road to show that you have made it in the world, and are now worth a serious amount of money.

http://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/...ded-wheelbase/

In case you are wondering why I didn't choose the Ghosts £250,000 big brother the Phantom, is the Phantom is now

10 years old, and looks more or less the same as it did in 2003 when it was launched. The sedan and the even more

expensive and exclusive extended wheel base version looks nice, as does the drop head coupe for South of France

motoring, BUT there is no getting away from the fact the Phantom is in dire need of a replacement. The Ghost was

launched in 2009, and the extended wheel base in 2011 so it has just got started. And as I recently saw a Wraith

in London, I'd have one of them as well. http://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/wraith/

BMW will have to cough up some serious money to develop a new model to replace the now tired Phantom. I suspect

they will start to plan it when the Wraith which is essentially a coupe version of the Ghost is launched and is

selling. For a sporty GT car for the other you or me, you can have a Ferrari or Aston Martin Vantage or F1 or ...

the only one I'd buy is the Bugatti Veyron Vitesse, but a final version maybe coming

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/co...veyron-planned

So keep the Ferrari's and Lambo's ect, they are really nice but most of them are not in the same league as a

Veyron Vitesse for price and exclusivity as currently on the market its about the most expensive GT car in the

world and would be the GT car for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT-Y25o3IAQ – sounds better with your speaker

or headphones volume turned up.

And I'd probably buy an Audi or Volvo as an everyday ordinary car. …

Private Jets i.e. beyond First Class

In America there are 75 major commercial airports, but for private jets for different runway lengths there are 5,200 destinations, multiple that by all the other nations airports, and that's why a private jet is the only way to go for your or my now mega billionaire other self to get around the world.

Plus with a corporate/private jet you avoid all the usual airport routine malarkey, your chauffeur simply drives through an airport separate gateway, and on to the airports private jet parking area, and right up to the jets steps, then you, and your wife/gf/bf/kids simply get out of the limo and walk over to the jet and board it, while your luggage is taken out of the limo's boot and loaded on to the jet, no queuing to check in, no seat allocation, no security to go through, and AFAIK no passport check or visa ect as the passport stamp ect has probably already been arranged and done beforehand when you were on the way to the airport by your PA. I or the other you and your/my wife/gf/bf/kids just exit the limo, and board the jet, and just make yourself comfortable in a seat, and have my/your stewardess get me/you a glass of really good champagne as you wait for my/your pilots to do their thing to get the jet airborne.

Here are the 10 most expensive jets our other selves could now buy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxFuglalvP8

The vvip converted commercial airliners restrict where you can fly them, especially No 1, of which one had been bought by the Saudi prince who's has had the worlds biggest superyacht build, but I have read he's since sold the jet.

Dedicated private, corporate, vip and vvip jets come in 6 flavours, very light jets, light jets, midsize, super mid size, large cabin jets, and heavy jets which are the converted airliners on the You Tube top 10 video.

And if you have that kind of money to spend, my or your other self would have a whole range of private corporate jet makers to choose from that would like the other you or me to spend it on their aircraft.

Here's what’s on sale to choose from.

Super/Mega yachts

For a new mega billionaire like my or your other self, the expensive clothes and bling, jewellery ect for the wife/gf/bf, and me/yourself is their equivalent of pin money, and the expensive cars are just a little bit more expensive, and a private jet and property are more costly still, but to really show you are wealthy, and to give your private helicopter something to head for to make an entrance, for me the real sign of being a high lifer is a super/megayacht, as the cost of that little place in London, would not buy you the construction cost of the biggest megayacht, and not even one as big as 147 meter/482 foot Topaz - the port is Nice in southern France - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzEysaS8y9Q The black one passing it is 'Alibi' a mere 51 meters, or 167 ft 3 inch long, and she is for sale for just 15.75 million Euros. http://www.superyachts.com/motor-yacht-2136/alibi.htm

‘Superyachts’ are yachts longer than 24 metres or 79 feet. Above this size certain rules and regulations apply, crew must be employed, and the whole nautical experience becomes much more exclusive, and naturally more expensive.

This for me is the sign of real wealth, and ftm what I'm currently interested in and into, and what I would love to be able to own and run and maintain, and what I'd have built to a/my custom design if I really was a mega billionaire, but I can't even afford to buy and run a very small outboard powered boat.

An expensive car is nice, as are nice designer clothes for me and the probably high maintenance lady(s) I'd be in a relationship(s) with, and a private jet and helicopter is just a tool for getting around in to help the other you or me run a global business, and expensive houses and flats is somewhere for the lady and me to live and entertain in, but a super/megayacht is for relaxation, and to impress and party.

Like the above mentioned private jets motor cruisers and super/megayachts come in three flavours depending on the design and size of their hull. They are planing, semi displacement and displacement.

Most motor cruisers built are either planing, or semi displacement, and only the largest cruisers and super/megayachts tend to have displacement hulls.

Planing hulls are what used to be called 'speed boats', in that they are not that efficient when at slow speeds, and only come into their own at speed when only the stern third part of the hull is in contact with the water, and they have a shallow V hull to plain over the water. The video of the Azimut 40S http://www.azimutyachts.com/azimut40s-video.html shows it has a planing hull. They are good for speed, but have short ranges, as the engine(s) consume fuel at AFAIK a rate of around 40 gallons per hour.

Semi displacement hulls are the half way house, in that they have a deeper V hull, and when at speed plain two thirds of the hull are in the water, most of the cruisers from all the boat yards have semi displacement hulls. Here is a video of the British Princess 52 foot motor cruiser showing it is a semi displacement hull http://www.princessyachts.com/flybridge/princess-52

Semi displacement hulls are good for general cruising speeds of 20+ knots, and up to 40+ knots flat out, and have moderate to good ranges for long weekend cruising at their cruising speeds then of a planing hull, and for bursts of speed when needed, and such boats come with cabins with full double beds and full shower rooms and toilet facilities and galley ect for beside the owner and his/her wife/gf/bf 2 to 12 guests depending on the cruisers size, in length semi displacement motor cruisers are from 32 feet upward to well over 100 feet aka a pocket superyacht, the larger ones require a small crew or some experienced boating guests, and an experienced captain if the owner isn't experienced enough to pilot such a large boat. A 52 foot motor cruiser like the above Princess 52 is about the largest boat that a single owner captain can handle without a crew, unless he or she really knows how to pilot a bigger motor cruiser, and/or has friends or family that are sea experienced and can do as they are told regarding securing the boat in a marina ect.

The last is the displacement hulls, and all larger motor cruisers and super and mega yachts have them, as the shape, and size of the yacht's hull combined with its weight makes it plough though the water, and they are limited in size solely by the finances of the owner. The range of super/mega yachts is much greater then cruisers and is measured in the thousands of miles, and why most super and mega yachts have a bulbous bow to reduce wave drag on their hull for fuel efficiency.

The advantages are a smooth cruise on calm seas, but the hull size requires the employment of a crew and captain as mandatory. …

ATM There are around 4,500 super and mega yachts registered around the world, from a customer base of around only 5,000 people who are wealthy enough to be able to buy and more importantly run and maintain them, and the state of the global economy atm has caused 35% or about 1,575 yachts to be up for sale, as are n number of motor cruisers up to 24 meters, as nautical fun above a certain sized boat doesn't come cheap, and expenses like private yachts are usually the first things to go if money is starting to get a bit tight for even the super wealthy, which is why so many can now be chartered, with even Abramovich's Eclipse in the charter market at £2 million per week. He must need the money to pay Chelsea's wage bill, as 16 billion $ probably doesn't go as far today as it used to. The web site superyachts.com has a for sale section of 602 yachts currently on the market. http://www.superyachts.com/luxury-yachts-for-sale

If your or my other self want to have a new super/mega custom yacht built, to get a glimpse of what yards are building, or can be built, and want to see what is new or currently for sale, then the Monaco yacht show, the world's premier yacht show from the 25 - 28 Sept every year is the only place to be.

If you want to go next year it'll be 80 Euro's per head, per day, just to get in, and you'll probably need clothes that make you look like someone who is used to or is close to the high life as I guess you might not get in if you are dressed like a chav. Shocked

Here's some tastes of the 2011 and 2012 show for what to see, and what it’s like. No, I've never been, and in this dimension I never will. Sad

and

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6TWT7KEqa0 - This one is 51 seconds long.

and

http://www.superyachts.com/news/the-...nd-up-2897.htm

And this apparently by tradition is what happens to signal the end of every Monaco yacht show.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7F3AhTxxbU

Regarding the yards that'll build you a custom super/megayacht there are quite a few, with some yards having a well earned reputation for outstanding quality, and the super/mega yachts naturally come with a fair to a high price tag.

Oceanco yachts [Dutch yard] are generally more expensive then the other premier yacht builders. But they build some of the most awesome yachts. I also really like some of the designs of yachts from Lurssen and Blohm + Voss [German yards] as well if you wanted a BIG custom built super/mega yacht, as Lurssen has long made yachts from 65 meters upwards, Oceanco has apparently AFAIK and have read has decided to do the same, as they announced from 2003 they will focus exclusively on yachts from 80 meters upwards, thou the Italian yard Fincantieri is also currently working on a new 140 meter megayatch, and I also like some of the designs from Feadship [Dutch yard] for very high quality custom bespoke clean sheet one off's. …

I don't care for it, as the raised pilot house has no hard cover roof, unless it’s an option, and in the hot Med or Caribbean summer you are getting no shade, and have to put up with the full heat of the Sun, and the reflection off the white floor, and if it rains you are forced inside.

Instead I prefer this one http://www.ferretti-world.com/en-us/...IdBm=44&IdM=69 or either of the two smaller versions.

Benetti was in financial trouble after the deaths of the founder grandsons as there were no more male members of the Benetti family left to run the yard, so Paolo Vitelli Azimut's founder bought the it to stop Benetti from vanishing. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6932823.stm

The majority of the Azimut Group like with Ferretti make luxury motor cruisers with Italian flair and style, and Benetti superyachts look the part like 56 meter Jaguar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekE7WJ4h1Qo which you can charter for a max of just $320,000 per week, OR, if you require something a little bigger at 60 meters is Diamonds Are Forever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GISBc8tM-I which can also be chartered for a mere $400,000 per week, or your other self could simply buy her, as she's up for sale at $63 million. If I had the disposable relevant regular income to buy and run her I'd buy her, as I think her interior is beautiful, and for my other self’s bigger custom yacht when I upgrade I'd have the same interior designer Evan K Marshall http://www.evankmarshall.com/ do something similar to its interior. Benetti new builds are limited to 90 meters atm IF my other self was to commission Benetti to build a bigger yacht then DOF's 60 meters.

As for the other American yard's, no, I hadn't forgotten about the yanks, compared to Europe America has a smallish yachting industry, that with the exception of Palmer Johnson, Trinity and Delta Marine, and to an extent Pacific Mariner is quite inward looking.

I have included a single link of one of Hargrave Yachts, “America’s #1 Builder of Motor Yachts” or so Hargrave sales blurb says, as an example of their interiors of which some are clunky and chunky all be with well demonstrated quality carpentry through out, but all that polished Cherry Wood interior in some of their yachts interiors is just over powering to the eyes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wE8tJ7FSJQ

This one is not bad, but a lot less polished cherry wood would make the interior look better.

However, I also like some other American yachts like Ocean Alexandra efforts.

Ocean Alexandra: http://www.oceanalexander.com/

This is an okayish example of one that might make it on to my short list as a mega billionaire living in Florida, but there are a few things about it I don't care for.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQWJgSHZPuA

And Outerreef yachts are also alright...ish for yachting with just a few friends and no crew: http://www.outerreefyachts.com/

Their 63 foot model http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yARK6Xdv-TY and with commentary sales blurb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkoZUficTxY

For a more comfortable time I also like the Pacific Mariner PM85 http://www.westportyachts.com/yachts/pacificmariner/ but unlike the Outerreef you need a crew of 3 for it, but as its designed for a couple an owner couple and 6 guests or 4 guys and 4 gals could probably manage on their own, if the owner captain knows what he/she is doing. The W98 and W112 are nicer thou for more room, and a hard fly bridge roof like on the PM85 is an option, but I don't care for the single pilot seat on the W98 though, and prefer the tri seat arrangement on the W112, but a crew for the 98 and 112 is mandatory, especially for the two on the top of the range, and then you have the issue of maintenance and cleaning the yacht. But mega billionaires don't worry about those jobs, as they employ crew to do them.

But with a few examples of modern contemporary interior design like Palmer Johnson yachts http://www.palmerjohnson.com/, and Delta Marine http://www.deltamarine.com/ and Trinity http://www.trinityyachts.com/ being the exception, American yacht interior designers and especially those at Hargrave are just not up to the same level of modern contemporary style reflecting we are now in the 21st Century like European yacht interior designs show, and some American made yacht interiors are just far to twee for my taste, and as a result when it comes to yachts and their interiors some American yards are around 20 years behind Europe in styling, even Turkey who is entering the superyacht market is ahead of America in interior design and styling, plus even the Gulf states like http://majesty-yachts.com/ [United Arab Emirates yard] are now getting into the cruiser and superyacht building market, and are also leaving America behind in design and interior styling.

Most of the American yacht interiors to me tend to focus on to much wood and polished wood on show and their carpentry skill to divert attention away from, and to hide behind to distract attention away from a noticeable lack of imagination and style, instead of blending the wood with contemporary styling, and by using other wall materials, and interior design away from the traditional and safe club house look. …

One aspect of European absolute yacht design superiority over America's efforts is in yacht communication. In the above photographs and videos on the super/megayachts you will see the familiar dome shaped satcom fixtures on top of the masts, these are apparently referred to in the super/megayacht business as 'Mickey Mouse ears', and are the bane of yacht designers, but they may soon be a thing of the past in the next generation of yachts when things get economically better, and designers will not be restricted in having to work around Mickeys ears. http://megayachtnews.com/2013/09/e3-...#axzz2felIZuXq

If you have a super/megayacht you have to have somewhere to berth it if you don't want to use the tenders all the time, and of course the bigger the yacht the harder it is for your crew.

This marina is IYCA, Antibes, France, one of the Mediterranean premier marinas, and superyachts seem to have their own favoured berths, with one 80 meter berth currently up for sale http://www.boatinternational.com/201...fraser-yachts/, as this one http://www.superyachtfan.com/superya...ht_katara.html has docked in the same place before.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te9EQ5TckyI

The big blue one next to it is the 82 meter Sarafsa build here in Britain. http://www.superyachts.com/motor-yacht-3657/index.htm

The biggest Feadship to date!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb08C4ivJGs

As the description says this Feadship is 99 meters long. But I don’t care for the design as the bow is far too long for my taste, as it looks to thin and the bow length makes the yacht look unbalanced. And I’m not keen on the colour either.

The one on the right with the V funnels is an 85 meter Benetti design owned by the Saudi prince who has had that world’s biggest one built to replace this one, and this one has had a chequered history.

http://www.superyachtfan.com/superya...gdom_5_kr.html

Katara is docked on the other side of Safara which is docked next to the white one which is the 53.5 meters Feadship Majestic http://www.burgessyachts.com/en/majestic-00006588.html which you can charter for a mere 399,000 Euros a week and Katara is 25 meters longer then this Madame Gu Feadship blue one.

To get more videos on super yachts apart from naturally You Tube these are good sources http://www.superyachts.com/ and http://www.yachtsxl.com/

Note: On a point of interest you will have noticed the average numbers of places at the formal dining tables are 8 - 10 - 12 places. Some have up to 16 places for the bigger superyachts. The reason is that the Safety Of Life At Sea or SOLAS maritime regulations is if a superyacht has including the owner and his/her wife/bf/gf more then 12 guests, it isn't classified as a yacht, super or otherwise but as a passenger ship, and different regulations for the yacht come into effect. But AFAIK the new SOLAS regulations being introduced to reflect bigger super and mega yachts the number of guests can be increased depending on the size of the yacht in question with up to 24 as on Serene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o64ifFY5ao4 right up to Roman Abramovich's megayacht Eclipse with a guest capacity for 36 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v77aSBdl4k with it not effecting the classification of it being a recreational vessel. And some of the Arab royal yachts have cabins for up to 40 guests.

As for the super/megayacht tenders, for sports tendering and classic Italian styling the Riva Aquariva Super http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V951X...ture=endscreen or its modern successor priced at 280,000 Euro's or £237,400 the Iseo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZH-xC7i5jw takes some beating, as their design is sheer elegance. For limousine tenders the Hodgdon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtET9VfZHx4 also takes some beating. …

In case you didn't already know if we here in Britain build superyachts, apart from Sarafra this is Vana 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1up9q_zwFDU and http://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/details/1815 she's 96 meters or 314 feet long, and is Britain’s biggest built one to date by Pendennis Plus http://www.pendennis.com/, and she cost a cool £100 million.

The other motor yacht cruiser builders we have is Fairline, whose flag ship is the Squadron 78 Custom http://www.fairline.com/en/boats/squadron/78-custom

Then we have Princess who's flag ship is the Imperial Princess http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG5OEwqIomg at AFAIK £25 million a pop, and its recently won the top gong at a gong do http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Prin...ail/story.html, if you think its to big, this one is 98 feet, and a snip at £8 million, or about the same price as a Riva Dutchessa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4V8ypesA6Y

The arch business rival to Princess is of course Sunseeker, who's flag ship is the new 155 or 155 feet or 46 meters long superyacht, and which Eddie Jordan of Formula 1 is having one built, as he's owned several Sunseeker yachts before this commission. There is no sales video as yet for the 155, but this is their previous flagship the 40 meter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9PSnB-Vo3s a snip at AFAIK £20 million. On the video, I would guess regarding the people in it the the old guy is the owner with his wife, the young blonde bint is his daughter, and the young guy is either her husband or fiancee.

We had a forth motor yacht cruiser builder called Sealine http://www.sealine.com/ based in land locked Worchester, but it was declared bankrupt in May, and now has a new owner http://www.tradeonlytoday.com/home/5...-has-new-owner as its been purchased by a German company called Aurelius http://www.aureliusinvest.com/index-en.html. The British factory site will be closed down, and the remaining workforce laid off, and production will move to Europe in either Germany, or Poland, so Sealine is essentially no longer British.

In case you think despite the loss of Sealine that we British are doing alright in building superyachts, only one is still in British hands, and it is Pendennis Plus.

Fairline AFIAK is now owned by Better Capital http://www.bettercapital.co.uk/ and the Royal Bank of Scotland, however, for selling Fairlines abroad, it is also owned by a Danish company as a subsidiary of Tempo Baadsalg A/S http://www.tempobaadsalg.dk/, and is now called Fairline Denmark http://www.fairline.com/en/dealer/denmark/

Regarding Princess and Sunseeker, Princess is owned by the French group Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A or LVMH http://www.lvmh.com/ even though it recently got a £4.6 million ‘grant’ from the British government i.e British tax money is going to off set the French group expenses who actually own Princess http://medberths.com/2013/04/governm...-princess-aid/ . And Sunseeker is now owned since 19 June of this year by the Chinese Dalian Wanda Group http://www.wanda.cn/

The America yard Atlantis Yachts http://www.atlantisyachtsales.com/ is now totally owned by the Italian company Azimut Group.

The Dutch needn't feel so smug, as Feadship is owned by the French LVMH group, and the same goes for the French, as CMN is owed by Abu Dhabi MAR of the United Arab Emirates http://www.abudhabimar.com/.

The Italians are not immune either with Ferretti now owned by the Chinese Chandong Heavy Industry Group http://www.smallloader.com/ , http://www.superyachttimes.com/edito...rticle/id/7731 and http://uk.reuters.com/article/2012/0...8090YN20120110 otherwise Ferritti would have gone bankrupt.

And I can understand why with the Chinese middle classes and rich getting richer due to China’s economic growth, and as a result China is a new market for super/megayachts.

AND even the Germans are not immune, Lurrsen may still be in German hands, but the Blohm + Voss civil shipbuilding division is now in British hands as in December 2011 it was sold to STAR Capital Partners http://www.star-capital.com/

As for running costs of luxury and sports cruisers up to super and mega yachts, for the large yachts apart from insurance, ship provisions, crew wages/salary, their medical costs/insurance, pension contributions, and berthing and maintenance charges ect, fuel is a major cost for motor yachts of all sizes.

Diesel at my local Sainsbury's where I fill up the car is knocking on the door of £1.36 a litre, so if motor yacht diesel is the same price.

The smallest fuel tank of all the above boats and cruisers is for the Riva ISO at 330 litres, but this isn't a cruiser, but even so it'll still cost you a little over £448 per fill up.

**

The Azimuth yacht sports cruiser with the smallest fuel tank is the Atlantis 34 http://www.azimutyachts.com/azimutatlantis34.html

This little runabout has a 650 litre fuel tank, so it'll cost you a little over £884 per fill up.

**

For comparison Princesses smallest yacht sports cruiser is the Princess V39 http://www.princessyachts.com/vclass/princess-v39

This sports cruiser has a 730 litre tank, so it'll cost you a little over £992 per fill up.

**

Sunseekers smallest boat is the Portofino 40 http://www.sunseeker.com/en/range/po...o/portofino-40

This has a 750 litre fuel tank, so it'll cost you a little over £1,020 per fill up.

I've not included Sealine as they are more or less no longer in business.

But our other selves are probably not after a small cruiser as a week or long weekend run-around for fun times with the opposite/same sex, but something much bigger and more luxurious for longer range trips and for more people to party on.

So, at the other end of the above examples, and the biggest luxury cruiser in the Azimut range is the new 140 Trideck http://www.azimut-yachts.com/en/boat...0_--trideck---

There is no video for it yet, so this is the smaller 100 Leonardo http://www.azimutyachts.com/azimut100leonardo.html - Sorry about its video but this is the only one on the 100 Leonardo I could find. Sad

This one has a 10,750 litre fuel tank, so it'll cost you a little over £14,620 per fill up.

The 140 Trideck has an 18,000 litre fuel tank, so it’ll cost you £24,480 per fill up.

**

Still going up the scale, the biggest luxury cruiser in the Ferretti group is the Custom Line 124 footer. She has a 21,640 litre tank, so will cost you a little over £29,430 per fill up.

**

Sunseekers 40 meter is the fore mentioned former flagship. She has a 23,560 litre standard fuel tank, so it'll cost you a little over £32,041 to fill her up, and apparently she has an optional tank for long range, for 28,710 litres total which will cost you a little over £39,045 per fill up.

**

The Imperial Princesses is the fore mentioned Princess flagship. She has a 29,345 litre tank, so it'll cost you a little over £39,909 per fill up.

**

And Sunseekers top yacht is the 155 with a 60,000 litre fuel tank and this one will cost you or Eddie £81,600 per fill up. But you can go 4,000 nautical miles before you have to fill her tank up again.

**

All this might seem increasingly expensive, but it is not much compared to the bigger superyacht fuel costs.

The latest Bennetti superyacht delivered to date is the lovely 65 meters Nataly http://www.benettiyachts.it/modelli/custom/nataly

She has a 160,000 litre fuel tank, so it'll cost you £217,600 per fill up, but you can go for 5,000 nautical miles between fill ups at 16 knots.

**

Continuing up the scale, the biggest CRN superyacht to date is the 80 meter Chopi Chopi. http://www.superyachts.com/motor-yac...hopi-chopi.htm

She has a 250,000 litre fuel tank, so will cost you £340,000 per fill up, and you are then good for 6,000 nautical miles before you have to fill her up again.

**

As the first yard mentioned was Oceanco, one of their yachts is the 88.5 meter Nirvana http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZoaeX-V2ZY

She was glimpse in one of the Monaco yacht show videos, and is for sale, [and has been for a while], at 230 million Euros.

She has trans pacific range, and has a 285,000 litre fuel tank, so will cost you £387,600 per fill up, then she can go 6,800 nautical miles between fill ups at 14 knots.

I have read a few billionaires are bidding against one another to buy her, God knows why. I wouldn't be among them if I really was a mega billionaire, as personally speaking, I just don't care for some of her interior, WAY to much green in parts for me, and her interior central layout just isn't my taste. Her hull design is ok, but that piddling little hot tub and circular recessed lounges next to it at the front would just have to go, and that interior would in parts have to go via a full refit and redecoration.

No idea how big the tank is on Eclipse, but Abramovich has to pay $650,000 US or a little over £406,021 per fill up.

Vana 2 has a 523,000 litre fuel tank so it’ll cost you £711,280 per fill up.

To finish off fuel costs, Azzam is the current biggest megayacht https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9dJMp3dwwE . She has a 1 million litre fuel tank, so it'll cost not a Saudi prince but Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nayan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi who I’ve recently found out is her owner £1,360,000 per fill up, but then he probably has his own personnel oil well. …

All in all it's common knowledge the annual running cost of running and maintaining a motor cruiser and super/megayacht is 10% to 20% per year of what you have paid for it to the be built, unless you bought it second hand of course, which is an attractive option some of the nautical high lifers have taken up, as a new build commission for a new super/megayacht can take around 3 years from concept to delivery, but then the interior design and decor isn't your choice but that of the previous owners unless you have it refitted and redecorated throughout like this company offers http://www.sshmaritime.com/website/ with before and after photographs, but the running and maintenance cost are the same, hence the glut of yachts currently on the charter market to off set the cost of running and maintaining their toys.

But we now have a tax grab as European governments through their own inept spendthriftness are broke and are in search of revenue by any means http://medberths.com/2012/11/the-tax...terranean-sun/

With a predictable counter outcome they probably never thought of http://medberths.com/2013/02/italian...-to-the-rocks/

And the useless French government - which is sligthly less useless then Britain's useless government - has now added VAT to yacht charters and yacht provisions http://megayachtnews.com/2013/06/fre...#axzz2kF6Y1aUe and once again with a predictable outcome the opposite to what the French government thought would happen http://medberths.com/2013/07/french-...from-tax-hike/

Yacht owners will I guess now have to reconsider what they want their yachts to be used for as either charters to off set the costs, as I mentioned before, or for their own personnel use with all the cost on them, without the offsetting of chartering it. And Monaco is maybe leading the way to this possible change in mindset http://medberths.com/2013/08/the-mon...easure-yachts/

And to add fun to the mix Italy is also being affected as well now. http://medberths.com/2013/09/the-roman-fightback/

Should be interesting to see how it all pans out as charter companies either go bust or if the charter industry possibly moves to other areas of Europe that are not affected by all the new tax increases.

The biggest mega yacht to date is Azzam, but Donald Starkey has designed a 200 meter mega/giga yacht concept http://www.superyachts.com/concept-yacht-516/index.htm so the size limits haven't been reached...yet. I have read a price tag of around $600 million will be the yard stick, but that is probably an underestimation as Abramovich is rumoured to have spent around $1.5 billion in total building Eclipse, I'd guesstimate a 200 meter one would be around the $2 billion + mark to build, and then owing to its size you'll have very few marinas or ports that you could berth it at, although the Adriatic eastern coast has a large natural harbour called the Bay of Kotor with Porto Montenegro Marina locate in it, and the rest is undeveloped, so maybe it'll be the new hotspot for the nautical high lifers, as marinas in the Mediterranean have limited spaces for the growing number of yachts and their increasing sizes, along with their rising taxes. Even though Marbella is apparently going to have a big shiny new marina partially paid for with gulf oil money http://medberths.com/2013/09/new-sup...la-re-started/ I wonder what the Sheik is going to get out of it, as he sure as hell isn’t doing it out of the goodness of his heart?

AND Ibeza has seen it as a good chance to itself get a piece of the redevelopment pie. http://medberths.com/2013/09/ibizas-chance-to-shine/

But for every winner there has to be a looser http://medberths.com/2013/10/viewpoi...ew-beginnings/.

If you are wondering why female guests are walking around bare foot in the numerous videos of the yachts and cruisers, and some of the men are to or in their socks, and the crew have deck shoes on if they are not bare foot as well is a woman’s shoe high heels mark the teak decking, as can men’s shoe rubber soles, and high heels are dangerous on a yacht at sea for the lady's balance.

So there you have it forum members, if you want to live the high life all you need is lots and lots and lots of money in the bank via [maybe] a multiple Euro rollover win, and a will bequest from your [other self’s] great great uncle Albert who was a mega billionaire, and you'll have large enough capital and a large enough income coming in to do it, with more then enough conditioned by the will to replenish any money going out. [;)
