It's nice to see that despite the fact you're all a big pack of meanies in game, there's a really positive vibe when it comes to programs such as PLEX for GOOD.

We're well aware of the horrible situation in the Philippines right now, and everyone who has been affected has our most sincere sympathies.

The Community Team are currently discussing potential options for what we may be able to do to harness the good will of the EVE Community, and are liaising with other departments at CCP to look into the best option.

While we can't promise anything at this stage, we're looking at the situation to see what, if anything, we can do to allow EVE Players to assist.

Apologies for the delay with regards to responding to this, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through in terms of conforming with legality before we can proceed with any form of donations. Smile

CCP, are you kidding us ?

- You delay / don't proceed with a worthwhile charity drive, ( while in the past, there have been more than one successful charity drive occasions ), due to legal issues ? What the hell ????!!!!????

- But you are so quick to praise / promote / white knight, ( and dare I say, support ), your favourite business partner Somer.

My God CCP, what greedy double standards.

So why are you not doing something?

I have already helped fund a shipment of water filtration units that have been flown out there.

Think a lot of us may have contributed in RL towards this disaster. In these forums we are discussing donating via Eve.

Any colour you like.

I like to think that most people from the Eve community have a heart and they want to help the unfortunate victims of this terrible tragedy, which is a terrific, ( the GENEROSITY, not the terrible event ), and kind and generous.

If people are in a position and are able to help they should in any way they can.

All I'm saying is that CCP have no ethics or morals.

In the end CCP arn't a charity. They can do office collections like every other company but to expect them to sacrifice a chunk of their profits every time a disaster happens is a bit much to be asking. I would much rather see a community organised collection with CCP helping to advertise it. Making angry posts at CCP is also not a nice thing to be doing.

There seems to be a little misunderstanding.

I'm not saying that CCP should / have to, give their profit to a worthwhile charitible cause, or to match what the Eve community raises for this tragic event.

The Eve community has asked CCP, to provide a method of means in which the Eve community can help out the Philippines, as a group community, in which the community will raise the funds itself and CCP can then donate these genourously raised funds to the appropriate aid organizations, in the name and on behalf of the Eve community.

That's great.

But, CCP has delayed / not proceed with this passionate request, due to legal reasons ( ??? )

While in the past, on more than one successful occasion, CCP have quickly responded and helped out on othere similar charity drives.

This time, they are giving us,......................, well they are giving us, the Eve community, the finger !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tragedy that has occured in the Philoppines is very sad and unfortunate, and the sheer magnitudeis terrifying.

The world communoty should try to do all they can to help them, and all individuals who are able to help should hopefully contribute to the recovery effort.

But, considering recent events with CCP,

With any money raised by the kind and generous EVE community via PLEX sales, so as to help the Philippines,

"How can we trust CCP that all the funds raised for this tragedy actually end up and get to the appropriate aid organizations?"

CCP has shown that they are not trustworthy, have no integrity, are not transparent with the EVE community on matters that should be transparent, and they are willing to do anything to get money.

Sadly, may I suggest that, if any individuals from the EVE community want to help the Philippines, that they find outside and more trustworthy organizations to use, so as to give their financial aid contribution.

Anyway, this might prove be a better option, for those who want to help.

And I agree with this quoted post.

In any case, charity cannot be reciprocal. If you do not want to give to charity for whatever reason, it is ok. Nobody is forcing you to do it. Do not try and justify your (non)actions by blaming the poor country in trouble.

And to be honest, it would be great to hear that even though they did not help us (which is probably wrong), we will help them. That would be the real spirit of charity. In fact the true spirit would be if you said nothing negative and just gave.

Totally agree.

Also, Philippines are being devastated by partly innatural phenomenons that the global warming is worsening every year.

Who's responsible for global warming? Certainly not Philippines. It's the USA, China and a number of others.

The super-powers who took their decisions about high pollution and energy usage, have a moral duty to help those who indirectly are affected by those choices.

I take it that Warren Buffet and Bill Gates only donate to African children after those African children have first donated a nice amount to them? That's quite some odd logic.

What the hell.....? If your desire to donate help the Philippines immediately (a commendable desire), there are dozens of avenues available to anyone at any given time. Why are people bitching at ccp for not doing something fast enough?

Someone with your corp name should already be pushing for this Big smile

On a more serious note - it's what makes Eve different from WoW. The sense of community is something that keeps me here. By not acting on this CCP is diluting that. Does that answer your question?

How did this turn into a CCP vs The Players thread? This thread is simply about raising the question of whether or not CCP would be willing and able to host a fund raiser for a disaster.

Because they locked my thread, which was started before this one and was more focused, while they kept open this thread that was a spin off with bumps and arguments. Unsurprisingly enough, this thread keeps going with bumps and arguments.

I like how this thread went from "hey CCP can you enable us to ___" to "basic rage and naysaying" to "CCP are idiots" to "look how much money I gave Im better than you are" to a combination of all the above.
