I'm sure I am not the first but hailing people and then using the voice comms for discussion should the hailed party accept would be really cool, Star Trekesque.

Also EverQuest 2 has a feature where your webcam tracks your face and your in game avatar moves it's mouth and facial features to match yours. Would be a neat addition with this as well instead of just bringing up the static avatar.

I am still pretty noob so maybe you can do this already but setting up a voice channel just for one interaction seems kinda discouraging and having a simple direct line that opens and closes quickly would rock.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I'll give them heroics...and when everyone is super...no one will be.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

Adapting EVE Voice to be able to quickly start a voice chat with someone (obviously only if they accept) would be pretty cool. However I don't know how many people would really accept voice chat with a complete stranger. But maybe it could be useful to coordinate ad-hoc engagements ("help I'm tackled in belt!"), it's easier to hit a few buttons in game than to launch a voice comm program in the background and connect to your alliance server while you're being shot at.

The webcam thing sounds like waaaaaay too much work for a completely insignificant feature.

Yeah, pretty much. Although using just the voice to make an avatar's mouth move can be done. LittleBigPlanet has already had such a feature for voice chatting and the sackboy's mouth moves with pretty good accuracy with tone and vowels.

And I suspect it can cause some hilarity at the wrong moments. You're speaking to a very serious avatar on screen and suddenly it starts yelling at a background voice at the wrong moments. Bonus laughs if it's in some young kid's squeaky voice.
