How setting up SISI indirectly killed my OS

This is not a story about how running SISI killed my OS.. not entirely..

I know when talking about computer issues you should be as detailed as possible in the steps taken.. so here goes my wall-o-text

I wanted to try out rubicon features and thought "I'll get on SISI"
It had been a long time since I had been on SISI and for some reason I kept getting launcher errors and could not get it to launch
So, I decided to start over
I navigated to C:/EVE (this is where i keep my sisi client)
I tried to launch the eve app and the launcher from there.. neither worked
I decided to go to eve-wiki and follow the isntructions for a clean install
The first steps are to create the folder on the c drive and copy/paste your eve client there
-I already had this.. next step
Delete all .download and .patch files..
-Check
Created a new shortcut, copy pasting (from eve wiki page) the line you add to the shortcut to tell it to go to the sisi server
Tried to launch
-didn't work, given error and told to run repair tool
Running repair tool
---Up to this point all is going "ok" but this is where it starts to suck..
The repair tool starts doing a lot of work, including a 1gig download (I assume the .patch files i deleted)

While the repair tool is doing it's thing, my power dies in my building and then immediately comes right back on.
No biggie, happened before, just turn the computer back on and run the repair tool again

not so fast

Turn on PC
POST screen
BLACK SCREEN "PLEASE SELECT BOOT DEVICE"

**** **** **** **** ****

REBOOT

Get into BIOS, hard drive is still there, and the BIOS screen even tells me windows in installed.. just wont boot

Thank you CCP, genuinely.. I now have an excuse to get rid of win8 and move to win7.. Lol

What exactly is the repair tool repairing if that can happen?

I don't know that the launcher killed it

I made a post here because the only thing out of the ordinary I was doing on my PC when the power flashed was running the updater.. If it was making any registry or .dll changes, it could have killed it.

Then again, it could have been the power dying and not shutting down properly that killed it, even though I has never hurt it before.

Notice in my thread title i stated "INDIRECTLY" because it may have not been the direct cause of it, but I felt it was worth it to make people aware that losing power while your repair tool is running may cause issues with your OS

Dude, thats how software works, you are talking like if you know something popping words out of your ass like .dll and registry, but you don't know how to fix it? Yes it might of been doing that, just run what the guy over this comment pointed out. Software needs power to run. Like tripping and falling on your head, missing out of power can kill a software.

edit:

I've already had an IT buddy of mine fix the PC for me and install a new graphics card while he was at it.

If by "hard" you mean you have to stick a bootable disc into the optical drive, then yes, it's pretty much like scaling Everest in the nude.

I don't have a boot disk..cpu didnt come with one and i didnt build it

I should have known better than coming to the eve-o forums for help/feedback. nothing but a bunch of elitist trolls here anymore.

Borrow someone else's or find an ISO on a reputable Pirate site.

Or just use another win8 machine to create a recovery disc.
