Yep that just about sums it up. You should take your obvious marketing, business and economics genius to a company such as Ferrari, which incidentally operates in a niche market, and see how fast they kick you out of the door for being ignorant of the market sector and type that they compete in.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Jump clones could help since you can jump into a pvp clone and keep all your implants safe. Also spamming warp to something before you pop in a fight will make your pod instawarp out. Once you learn that you will lose your pod a lot less Cool

So I should read up on jump clones?

I hope it isn't too long to skill up to that. Because I am itching for some PVP after reading the pirate thread in C&P. :D

Two words, niche market. It's easy to be extremely successful while holding a small overall market share, businesses such as bespoke tailors, luxury vehicle manufacturers, yacht makers, etc all remain in business and make sizeable amounts of money despite a very low overall market share. Primarily because they're not aiming at the overall market, they are aiming at a very specific, albeit expensive, subset of that market.

CCP are aiming Eve at a very specific subset of the gaming market, one where players appreciate a game with very few rules and where a nighs dammit completely player driven experience is available if they want to be part of it. Most gamers don't want that, they'd rather play a game where they're the hero, very few games offer the opportunity of being a villain.

You're not getting it. Ferrari is a niche market but if the number of rich people on the planet were to increase from 1 million to 5 million and Ferrari sales increased from 1000 cars per year to 2000 cars per year they have gained actual buyer count but lost market share and market share is a much more robust measure of a corporations strategy than simple looking at whether they have more customers this year than last year.

Now do you get it?

But you could "know" the amount of rich people increased.

Where is your evidence that the kinds of players who would like EVE have increased? The *only* thing you 'know" is that there are more people now than there was yesterday, you don't know whether they are people interested in what EVE has to offer.

You have no solid basis from which to justify your opinion that CCP has somehow "failed" to do anything. If EVE was a "mass appeal" game then you could say that CCPs lack of increasing subs by gamers who like that sort of thing represents a loss in market share. But EVE is niche, so no one really knows.

Stop trying to pass off you assumptions as fact.

Market share and how market share works are 'facts' that you dont understand the dynamics of market share and all that implies doesn't make them any less a fact.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

The skill training isn't that bad, and there's a player run service that enables you to have jumpclones without having to grind up the +8 corporate standings.

Posting in a joke thread about how to poo up EVE ONLINE / High sec:

- Everyone has to pay some entity to undock their ships (you're all renters now)
- You can't fly anything here except mining barges and transport ships or you pay the 'war tax' (to another separate entity)
- Alt accounts all show the mains on the account (and all other accounts that connect via this IP, so GG NAT) so you can laugh at the null seccers trying to hide their identity and run missions in peace and quiet
- new APIs will become public that show what missions you run and when you last ran them.
- NPCs will yield killmails
- Asteroids depleted will yield killmails
- Going AFK will disconnect you after 60seconds of no activity. To log back in, you have to watch an advert
- Wars tap the corp wallet and every cycle (60 seconds), the coffers are raided until A) The war is stopped or B) the coffers run out of ISK, inwhich case random pilots ships are reclaimed by concord to pay the bills.

hehe

oh wait, this was supposed to be a serious thread?

I got trolled!!

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

You definitely should. Start by looking up the skill: Infomorph Psycholog. These days, there are a couple of support skills in the “Neural Enhancement” category.

The skill isn't problematic to train for… but getting the standings required for installing them unfortunately is. There are other ways to get jump clones than through NPC entities, though — people are running cloning services using Rorquals and the like — but you'll have to search for those.

Just as a reminder, it's very hard to get podded outside of null sec.
In low sec what might kill your pod is: - lag
-smart bombs
-some specific gate camps (even then not that much of a pod threat).

If you spaw warp to when your ship is about to explode it will warp away before they can get a lock on you.

Also if you want a jump clone without working for the standings

Sweet info, thanks.

I'd heard about them. Something to think about taking on, but right now I'm getting a huge training boost from a booster that's going to disappear soon anyway. After that, I'll train this and get started on safe PVP and then... I'm coming for you. Watch out! :)

This to say, "Thanks," I figure the best way to thank people for info is to give them another target to fight. :)

Posting in a thinly veiled "highsec players are Untermensch because they don't play how I want them" to thread.

Protect me from knowing what I don't need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don't know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Amen.

Faction Navies go bye-bye. If there's a Smuggler/Outlaw/Enemy Militia outside the station, it should be the players who go after them. Would put some much needed Highsec PvP back in after Crimewatch and Inferno killed most of it.

I agree, although I enjoy other aspects of Crimewatch. I find that these NPC's actually prevent aspiring pvp-ers to gang up on an experienced outlaw. When I did something that is an illegal action, I'd prefer the players to have a shot at me instead of having to run from an NPC police mechanic. I've recently been fined because of smuggling, all I get is some dumb faction decrease and they take away my booster. Why not make me a suspect and announce my transgression instead? I feel criminals should be Suspect flagged first, arbitrarily penalized second.
