Quote from: Tyr Aeron

We have no illusions about being friendly, helpful, or polite. Coming onto BC and acting like an ass is going to get you flamed. To expect otherwise is foolish. It's tantamount to a man walking into a biker bar wearing a school girl outfit and complaining that he was beaten and violated with a pool cue.

change BC for EVE and it is pretty much true.

Come in and whine, and we will laugh at you. But come in and say, ok this happened, and can someone suggest what I did wrong and how to prevent it.. people might giggle at your mistake but we will also help you.

Now I am the type of girl that will gladly gank the everlasting **** out of you, why? Because I can. and.. its fun. :) But ask me for advice and I will gladly sit down and help you to prevent it in the future. Why? Because I can and it is fun.

EVE is a game, we are all fiercly loyal to it because in the world of fuzzy feeling no risk MMOs out there EVE is special. No corpse run, no free epics for doing /dance or.. whatever. We get ganked, we get scammed, we get awoxxed, and we say: damn that was fun :) I need to do that.

Give us tears and we laugh, ask for advice and we give it. You get back what you put in, you decided to cry and rant. We laugh and point. So.. perhaps the problem isnt with us, but with how you decided to come here and smalktalk OUR game. I swear if I go into wow forum and smack talk it, I will get trolled as well. Gamers will be gamers, we love our games and wont be quiet when someone whines about it. But being passionate we will also help you. Now go up to your room young man and think about what you done, if you decide to stick around for the roller coaster that is EVE Online then come back and ask for help and we will give it. But whine and expect a few wardecs thrown your way to show you what we do to whiners.

What I do not love, is the fact that I can be sitting in a high sec, minding my own business (and it’s not like I ever went to someone else and blown them up when they were doing the same) running my own mission and have some class bully run up and blow me up because they think its funny, then give the excuses that I was just firing fireworks at you and that this is me teaching you by destroying everything that you worked at for the last 2 weeks.

So yeah if that’s the only way a person can say is how other players are supposed to learn how to play this game, then why would I or anyone I know ever want to play. I mean come on, my brothers playing this game to. We both quit that long ago, I now have a lot of guild buddies who are playing rift and gw2, why would I ever try to convert them to this game if all they have to look forward to is the people who have been playing since the beginning, just wants to dump on all the newbies. And you can sit there and tell me that I haven’t read enough, watch enough videos, or any other BS about how I can just figure this game out enough to defend myself because all I feel like is a boy with a stick fighting off a pack of a pack of wolfs with no better reason than, you look like you’d be fun to screw with.

You are not going to find very much solace in the Eve-O general forum. Or in HISEC space. For the most part, these "bullies" you speak about thrive and multiply in HISEC. The easiest way to mitigate your problem, is to find a corporation and move to LOWSEC or NULLSEC.

Strange, I know, giving that you ARE going to be blown up, many more times, at least it will be by a group of people that know about small gang PVP, and, will more than likely strike up a conversation with you afterward.

Confirming. Small-gang PvP guys/lowsec pirates are actually pretty awesome people, for the most part (ignore SCUM... they're exceptions to the rule and live up to their alliance name).

Also posting those names IS against the rules, in before breach of forum rules.

edit:

Plenty of new players start playing EVE every month, lots stick with the game.
EVE is a special kind of game. If you are expecting risk free PvE and arena style PvP. Maybe stay with your guild buddies in Rift and GW2 as they are more like that. In EVE PvP is around every corner and never fair. If you thinking you found a fair fight you just dont know how the other side is fighting with an unfair advantage.

Once you learn to accept that every single time you un-dock, you are exposing yourself to the risk of being attacked by another player, Eve makes complete sense.

There are a lot of players in Eve that are more mature and helpful than you'll find in a thread like this. You just need to start looking for the right connections.

I think my reply is late as he probably rage quit already.

Anyways, I'm trying to bring some other folks to play EVE for a long time with no success.Oops That Learning Curve Graphic is, indeed, true and I laughed at it in the past and laughed more now, again.

But, to be honest, I think is exactly that "thing" that makes me coming back each time I rage quit. I've tried all stuff in the MMO market since MU Online (when the server was, yet, in Korea), so you can guess how much time I've been playing MMOs.

Everyone here (except Chribba, OFC) need a break from EVE just because some say, and I believe it, this is not a game after all, but a career - Spaceships Serious Business - and we need to kill a dragon when we are on vacations.

I really don't want to troll although my inner (you know what) was pressing me when reading the OP but: Can I have your stuff?Pirate

Did you know that the vets had a much steeper learning curve? Do you know that newbs these days have it much easier? Clearly, if they're vets, then that learning curve didn't phase them. Do you know what that means?

That means they could hack it enough to become vets, and if you're just gonna quit, before you've even finished learning, then you'll never be on their level anyway, or have the same experiences, good days or bad days, making your entire opinion here completely irrelevant.

This is EVE in easy mode, mate, and if you can't hack that, then EVE is just not for you. So yeah, as others have said, go back to WOW...

Oh, what's that, EVE hasn't been growing and WOW is better because it has more people?

First of all, popularity does not equal quality. Take Justin Bieber for example.

And also, you're wrong. EVE has and still is growing, whereas WoW's population peaked in 2009-10 and is slowly declining.

Most EVE players don't respect whiners, complainers, or quitters.

If you want to be treated better:
* Accept responsibility for everything that happens to you in EVE, good or bad. Don't blame others. It is always your own fault.
* Admit your mistakes openly.
* Learn from your mistakes, and the mistakes of others.
* Ask questions about how to improve your gameplay. Be determined to improve yourself, and to have more fun.
* Show some effort before enlisting the aid of others.
* Adapt to the sandbox, rather than insisting it adapt to you.
* Don't beg. Earn your own upkeep, slacker.
* Make do with what you have. Realize you don't need a big wallet or lots of skill points to be successful or have fun.
* Don't take anything personal. It is just a game.
* Realize you are not a special snowflake, and will not be treated as such.
* Don't whine or complain. Laugh at yourself instead.
* Etc.

OMG you won't believe how helpful and generous and friendly EVE players can be to people that show a positive attitude.

EDIT: I'm reminded of the thread Am I too stupid to play EVE? which took the exact opposite approach the OP did.

What exactly makes you think that we all like to harass rookie pilots? Sounds to me like you have a habit of putting yourself in a vulnerable position, which new or not, WILL BE PUNISHED!

Everyone in this game gets **** on. You learn to sleep naked in a garbage bag and get used to the smell to the point where you learn to love it or you quit. But it's precisely the fact that everyone gets their turn on the bottom of the pile that means you shouldn't take it so personal.

If you still want to leave you won't be the first but the harsh reality of the whole thing is intentional. If someone is coming into your mission and stealing your stuff the lack of respawns means sometimes you just have to swallow your pride so someone else doesn't make you swallow something worse.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

Hi Helyean,
I have resubed for 1 month just to write to you Helyean; there is no point talking to these people, the players here stay for years and have multiple accounts keeping this game alive, I stopped playing Eve 2 years ago but still regularly read the forums and read your post.
My life has been much happier since I stopped playing Eve, it was hard at first but it got easier, you start to notice that nothing changes in Eve, no matter how many expansions are released, same topics cycle around year after year.
I was told to take a break from Eve, it’s turning into a permanent break, Eve is a fantastic game but the community is awful, so I’m not saying that this game isn’t for us, because CCP have created a great game for all play styles, it’s the attitude that moulds it into something horrible and you deserve better, please feel free to contact me over the next 30days.
