This is fantastic for newer players and is much needed. Should have been done a long time ago honestly. One nitpick though, why Interbus rather than Concorde Ship Identification System?

as i tested it on SISI i was wondering if you could just replace the "show info" tab with the "ship info bubble" content and just attach the description text below it. It is clearly a cleaner and better representation of the same information.

Something for us to consider, for sure ;)

Something to think about for the future, what if there was a list of ship roles somewhere, and clicking (or hovering over) a role would highlight ships in the ISIS that fulfill that role? Imagine a new player asking "I want to play the tackling role, which ships would be good for it?"

So basically pretty graphics with 1/100 of functionality already present in 3rd party tools.
Time well spent guys, definitely worth not doing anything about drones/POS/overview/useful UI.

Yeah, I know: all those things are on to-do lists of other devs. As always.

These 3rd party tools aren't particularly helpfull to all those people who don't know them,
which quite likely aren't just a few.

Ehhh I like the 1000% bonus Twisted BUT in all seriousness, great work guys. This will be a nice tool to help newer players get a proper feel for the game while also allowing older players to grasp whats needed to say cross train. Looking forward to seeing the changes come to TQ.

The only concern I have is one I expressed in the Certificate thread, the concern regards the visual impact of mastery on ISIS. Currently if you meet some mastery for one ship it is a broad based requirement. For example, I had Mastery 2 for a Vulture but lacked the basic skills to fly the ship. I think this may create confusion for newer players.

The only way I can see to solve this would be some day down the road maybe have all the skils required for a specific ship into a ship certificate. Drake would have all basic skills needed to fly a drake. Make this a Mastery 1 requirement. This way ISIS does not show you have Mastery 2 for a ship you cant even fly yet. Instead it shows nothing till you meet the very basics to fly the ship.

Logged in to say this. If you could have those icons (not solid filled ofc) on the overview to replace the square brackets that could be awesome.

Ship size icons (triangles) and weapon icons look cool, but are difficult to recognize one from another. especially weapon icons.

And yes, it would be very awesome to separate bonus info from fictional info in show info tab. (gee, I wrote a lot of infos)

And yeah, it would be good if you could somehow make universal ship icons that could be used in brackets in space on real ships. So we can memorize just one set of icons for ships.

Looking forward on ISIS and new certificates in Rubicon. This is actually my favorite feature in whole expansion!

P.S. I hope you will make more visualization systems in game in the future, like PI system etc. :)

And change the NPC little-medium-large crosses for those new icons at least, it would be much better NPE for newbies. Those crosses very disappointing.

Sounds fair. I Agree on this one.

I would LOOOOVE those ship type identification icons to replace the boxes and crosses.

CCP did say that stuff may be used elsewhere in the game if it receives good feedback. The only problem is you will always have a bunch of people who did not want them to change :(

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

Also please update all the ships that have immunity to cargo scanners. Right now on the Gallente side, e.g. it only lists the Viator and I'm pretty sure there are others. Aren't cov ops also immune to cargo scanning? My memory is that DSTs don't have that protection.

I really love the info bubbles and find that they are about 1000 times more usable than the existing info tab. Please take this kind of linked formatting to many places. I'm also very, very happy you all settled on role bonuses. Any thoughts on handling specialty and rare ships that aren't manufacturable -- at least in consistency of formatting of Show Info.

Also could you please take another crack soon at the attributes and fittings tabs and look to reformatting the information in those tabs to also be better formatted. I don't know who has been initiating these kinds of changes these last several expansions, but they deserve large raises and bigger teams.

Also, despite what some are saying, please continue to focus on these kinds of NPE items because it will make it a lot easier to convince my friends to play. Content is also very important and needs to be addressed, but I understand that the teams working on UI are not the teams doing content.

It should go without saying that adding these ship icons to the overview is the next logical step.

Not only does it replace the unhelpful, archaic, limited system in place today, the current system has reduced usability because new players will naturally expect the icons to match. When they don't, they'll invariably ask "what's the significance of that ship's icon? Why do frigates have two different icons? Why does a titan have the same icon as a battleship?" Making the overview use the new icons will eliminate these questions, which will both help new players get into the game more quickly and help veterans find the information they need faster.

Pretty picture!

But not very functional except for absolute noobs.

How about directly linking pictures to skill planning and new certificattes somehow?

At least show the main missing skills for the selected hull by just hovering over the hull.
But it would more interesting if you could select a ship up the tree a bit and that would stay selected while you examined intermediate ships on the tree. Ideally effects of learning an intermediate ship would then reflect on the topmost ship with
a different color of missing skill. Maybe some time to learn totals with adjusted/different colored totals for ships further upstream reacting to training various ship downstream.

The ultimate ISS ship tree would also show something about about learning weapons and other modules to make up a complete fit. Not sure how you would do that though. Maybe something for the spring expansion. But a Drake hull is sort of useless without missiles and heavy missiles or heavy assaults are generally a higher quality than rapid light launchers.

P.S. If pretty pictures is the limits of your ambition -- at least have the tree pop up some large detailed pictures of each hull mfor us to ogle.

While cloaked any ship is immune to cargo scanning because you can't lock target to scan.
Obviously a covert cloak lets you move faster and warp without losing cloak.

I think the Viator is in fact the ONLY ship that is currently supposed to be immune to scans without cloaking.

Oh and I also have to jump on the bandwagon about consistently using the new icons EVERYWHERE. Plus having the info text available via those icons EVERYWHERE.

While most players will have the generic ship progression of the tree memorized within a few weeks to a few months -- the info details of specific ships will continue to change or need refreshing/verification. So I can even see the icons and info popups as helpful tools blending into market screens while browsing for new ships,.

I really like that. I wish those icons were used everywhere, and this new way of showing information would soon make it's way for every module and item that is suitable for it.
