Give positive sec status pilots a bonus. (Bounty payouts scale with sec status)

Haven't been around forever, but I have heard how the old bounty system was broken in a different manner than current form and quite exploited. But the current version of it renders bounties a joke and not worth any trouble with such a low payout calculated from loss worth.

So maybe tie payout that scales up with Sec status. so..

1) Give some little extra bonus/incentive for having a high sec status
2) Make bounties less of a joke and ineffective mechanic

I would imagine it never being a full payout from the pool, but rather starting at current 20% of target's loss then adding anywhere from an extra 10% or so for each 1 full positive sec stat until at solid 5 you get a hefty payout at maybe 80% of listed loss worth. This of course being based off the sec stat of who landed final blow and still being divided up amongst participants.

Not 100% since even that leaves too much room for abuse in having a friend drain your bounty pool+collecting insurance. So would have to be kept at a cap where it's either impossible to gain profit from exploiting with a +5 friend, or the collection is only marginally higher and not worth the lengths to lose so many expensive ships and modules to achieve it.

Nerf stabs/cloaks in FW? No, just.. -Fit more points -Fit faction points -Bring a friend or two with points (an alt is fine too)

From what I've read, it's already almost possible to break even under the current system, and thus your boosts would turn that into profit and ruin the entire system.

Echoing this. People smarter than me have run the numbers and anything over 25-30% payout on bounties makes it profitable to kill yourself with an alt to collect your own bounty money.

Besides that, why should large-scale PvEing give bonuses to PvP? As a corollary, why should the people who actively hunt bounties (and therefore most likely lose sec status) get less bounty payouts?

Also this. If anything, they should receive less, because they're carebears.

The idea of "Carebears" shooting other players for bounties is paradoxical. They can't be bears in that case.

I believe the bonus to positive sec status is that you can do things that reduce your sec status without going negative so quickly... I could be wrong.

It would be cool if you gained more rights to shoot players with negative sec statuses though, such as a decrease in the minimum negative before they are legal targets inversely proportional to the positive sec status gained. This would be so bad it would be awesome.

Then why is it proposed to give +5.0 highsec dwellers a bonus?

I strongly believe that some strong bonuses should be added for both low and high sec status players. We should be able to play cops and robbers. Give bonuses to pirtes for having -10 sec status so they can pirate batter (i would like to see a pirate "fee" or "reward" for ganking someone), but would have hard time with any security force (maybe faction navies should be more agreessive?). Then hi security players shoul get bonuse to thier personal security (navy protection?) and for hunting down pirates...

You're conflating carebears and non-criminals into one. It is possible to be a non-carebear and a non criminal. Granted, those people will be rare but they'll exist.

Excellent idea! +5% optimal range to all electronic warfare (scrams, webs, etc) for every point of sec stat below 0, and a penalty for every point above 0. Sounds about right.

On other hand its an incentive for them to PVP... and learn to be less carebearish.

I for once keep my security at 5.0.. Just becuse I like it.. and make some people underestiamte you.

So your idea is... to give a additional disincentive for people with hisec status to take criminal action. And to make PVE less valuable for people who do take criminal action? This is a terrible idea. You are literally saying "nerf lowsec." And I'm someone who basically sits at 5.0 all the time.

Pretty much same for me, I use alts for ganks and stuff.

The bounty change removed the pointless security standing restriction. So why would you think CCP would reintroduce one?
