I last played in 2010, and now I'm nearly done downloading the client and getting my old account going again. I have 38 million isk, a couple of Drakes and a bunch of mining and transport ships.

What would you guys recommend I get into? I don't know what I have all missed in the past 3 years of Eve.

Thanks

Quite seriously, given you have little emotional investment in the game at the moment, I would say "don't play, and drop your sub asap". It is not the same Eve as it was in 2010.

That's true. It is, in fact, a vastly improved game. So your suggestion doesn't make much sense unless he had some very weird emotional investment into playing a much worse game, but as you point out, he doesn't.

Get drunk, undock one of the drakes, visit low sec.

Optional: Yell "drunk roam NAO!" in local until you either explode or get at least 3 guys to fly with you.

Have fun. Big smile

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Got that right, High sec is safer and more lucrative than it was back them. Damn CCP must be under the control of secret high sec interests again.

Sell your drakes, make Red Frog Freight haul a freighter full of cheap frigates and destroyers near lowsec and try to make as many people explode with them.
You could even join FW and make enough ISK through LP while losing all those ships to pay for the 2nd haul.

Can't believe this hasn't been said:

Unsub.

Seriously, if your thing is nulsec, forget russian. They'll be nothing but goon renters in 1-2 years. Right after they trash nulli + friends.

If your thing is L4 missions, Ravens are fine. Cruise missiles got a nice boost recently.

What do to? It depends upon three things primarily.

1. Are you more in most interested in PvP or PvE?

If PvP…find a PvP corp or look into Faction Warfare (or both).

If PvE…

2. Are you more interested in industrial or blowing up NPC meanies?

If industrial…find an indy corp.

If PvE...

3. If you primarily want to blow up NPC meanies…train for running L4 missions and graduate to incursions when you have the skills. Most of the skills you'll train for L4s will carry right over to running in incursion fleets. Once you can run incursions you can fund almost anything else you'll want to do in Eve.

What kind of ship would you recommend for Caldari for running missions?

if you can get into battleships, then a raven, later upgraded to a nRaven. will suffice, even with meta4 launchers. torps still suck, but Cruise missiles are very nice now on lvl4s.

if you only have medium missile training and Cald cruiser V you can get into a Cerberus. its pretty good now, and you can use it to blitz lvl3 missions, which will net you slightly more ISK/h than lvl4s (if you can find a station/system with 2 lvl3 agents). and with the next expansion you can do them even faster due to faster warp speeds.

other than those two, and the Tengu, Caldari is pretty lackluster.

btw, the cerberus will also allow you to do highsec exploration. with some good skills and HAMs, you can make some good money. the problem is the probing, but that problem is somewhat gone now with the next expansion and the refitting depot. (you will still need some good probing skills to compensate for the lack of scan bonus on the hull.)

I thought the all officer/faction blinged out ship was the rage now.

Soldarius beat me to it, but.....

Quit now!

Eve is still dying!

But seriously, I'd recommend Wspace. Fit up a couple of scanning frigs, find some wormholes, and if you can find a Class 1 or 2 Wormhole, try diving into it with one of the Drakes.

Just remeber that the salvage is where about half to 3/4 of the income can come from in Wspace combat anoms in C1/C2 Wspace. Unless Bob told sweet Lady Loot to smite you that day.

There's also Miner Bumping/ganking in the New order, joining the Blue Doughnut (dammit now I want doughnuts), mining, missioning, etc.
