Assualt Frigs, Destroyers and Bonuses

A little while back Assault Frigates were given a 75% bonus to AB speed on the test server. At the time it was deemed too powerful, and rightfully so (I tested it and can tell you that AB assault frigs were nigh unstoppable). However with the major boost to destroyers I think this bonus should be reconsidered. It was, in many ways, exactly what AFs needed to be viable.

Destroyers now deal enough damage to drop an AF very quickly. This means they can zone control against them with range weapons, or if MWD fit (which is usually the case) can simply chase the AF down and kill it handily.

The problem with the AF bonus before was the lack of hard counters. There is a counter now so this buff should be given another look.

Supported, it only brings the speed up to microwarpdriving cruiser destroyer level. It could be 10% per level if the 15% is felt to be to high.

I had always liked the idea of an active tank bonus though, perhaps one ship per race could get afterburner and one active tank.

A specialty frigate that mandates a specific counter would be pretty cool.

Buffing destroyers is a nice move but finish the job ; do not forget Interdictors and Assault Frigates

Whatever the role bonus should be, give AF something to play a role either in a fleet or skirmish warfare or we might loose them.
Only Interceptors will remains because of their reduction penalties on sig rad with MWD allowing them to come close to ships in middle long range. Interdictors and AF will be simply destroyed by the tier 3 BC with Pulse or AC.

PS : the Tornado nano can mwd at 17000 m/s.

The AF buff is all about speed modules.

Less sigradius with the MWD ?

More speed with AB ?

17000? Shocked more like 1700


75% ab boos will be too powerful... but 25% should be ok....

25% is not enough. An enyo does 821m/s with a single armour rig that would only give 1026m/.

+1, and 15%/level is fine. 25% total bonus is way way way way way too low.

There needs to be one hell of a rethink of fitting for these ships though. They are assault frigates. They should be fielding top tier frigate weapon systems.

But show me a decent harpy that fits light neutron IIs. Hell, there aren't many that fit light ion IIs. They can't do it. One single photon scattering field II takes 44 CPU, just under a quarter of the entire fitting.

Show me a decent wolf that fits 200mm autocannon IIs. Most fit 125s or some 150s.

Serious fitting love is needed on these ships.

I think the bonus's should vary from ship to ship, instead of a flat AB buff to all of them.

The Enyo needs it, absolutely. The Ishkur.... might keep it rather OP compared to the other AF's. To balance it with the other 7 ships, the Ishkur needs a mediocre bonus, possibly a drone speed or something along those lines.

The Retribution's bonus should be 2/5 Midslots per level. Amirite? Seriously, though, 1 midslot?

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

The hawk could get easily out of hand... ATM it sucks because its damage output is negligible, but with high speeds, it could become the new "supercrow", since it could hit at very high tranversal speeds without fear of reprisal... OTOH standard missile kinda sucks, so I'd prefer a slower but "killier" hawk...

And the Harpy... Well I love that ship but... AF sniping isn't that great, especially if you're going with Hybrids... And in blaster territory, Gallente will (and probably always should) have the upper hand. Perhaps a kiting Harpy with railguns wouldn't be that bad, though I guess there will always be better alternatives...
