Hey, I was just wondering about this...why is there an "up" in space?? Is there some kind of unstated rule of engagement?

For the same reason submarines always face up. So unless something has gone terribly wrong, or some seaman is doing barrel rolls in a Seawolf attack sub again, ships in EVE will eventually right themselves.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Because we're not flying spaceships in space, in fact, they are actually submarines underwater.

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

The ships are just balls in space really, it doesn't matter much if they are upside down or tilted.

Or warping backwards like the elite t3 pilots of the past used to do

For some reason they are never right side up during weekends. I presume this is a glitch CCP needs to fix.

I swear someone from CCP said that it was 'Eve physics' and they aren't the same laws that govern our universe.

You need less thrusters on the ship if you design it in a way that it will fly mostly in a plane.

Also, the ship interior has artificial gravity and crew (together with inertia dampeners to keep crew alive), so the ships kinda need something to be considered "up".

Btw, EVE ships have top speed limits because of the functionality of the inertia dampeners.. If there were no limits on top speeds the crew would die in every turn, and your ship would take damage on any contact. And I made all this up.

Please define up in space, where there is no gravity and thus no clear definition of down too.

For all we know up = down...

Can you imagine if we had to account for yaw and stuff flying these things around, and disabled the autopilot feature? Some people wouldn't be able to handle it and unsub.

And by "some people" I am mainly referring to everyone D400 blows up.

There is no up or down in space.

When you go to dock the stations are actually upside down.

Planets are at a 75 degree angle

Oh wait hang on "gotta stop drinking beer"
