Mad Ani live EVE stream petition

A fulltime battle streamer via Eve-TV is a great idea!

It could be either CCP organized and community run (CCP approves streamers to contribute to the channel and perhaps compensates them for time), or totally CCP run.

Not sure if I'd choose Mad Ani though. I mean, perhaps he should be in the running, but a typical resume process/interview would be better. To start, an actual CCP sponsored channel would need much better production and an actual set, as well as more formality.

But honestly, a CCP sponsored live battle channel would be a great idea for publicity.

I think CCP should build in a "automated camera man" that centers on random ships during a engagement and cycles accordingly. This Autocamera would stream to a twitch or CCP hosted solution.

Benefits:

Always on streaming
Different perspectives of the fight
Real time stats could be displayed with a lower risk of intel compromise on either side.

Naturally, not every fight could be covered but that problem exists today. Thresholding could be set to activate the camera man, such as number of kills, ships in system, cynos, etc.

CCP could sell ad-space or whatever and no Mad Ani required.

I think every reason that Mad Ani shouldn't be allowed to work for CCP has been listed. A recap though:
1. Begs for IRL money to fund his new PC since he can't get good recordings.
2. Gives out isk prizes for subbing to him, which for those who don't know is REAL MONEY.
3. Cries more that he can't get good recordings even though new PC, new excuses.
4. Gets criticism cries about it and rage shuts off stream. (Doesn't sounds like good thing for CCP rep).
5. Doesn't know what's going on about 95% of the time, he just knows that people are shooting each other, and his lack of intel providing to his viewers is sad.. (DBRB does better than that).
6. He gets mad at viewers that aren't vets of eve, and are fairly new / never played before, and when they ask a simple question in Twitch chat, he yells at them to rewatch the recordings, since he hates repeating himself.
7. He's just a general ******* to a lot of people that don't jump on his bandwagon he has set up.
--

A lot of viewers might remember that Mad Ani used to be sponsored by EveNews24 (Noh8 pls on us at en24, go hate on our articles if you want, don't derail this topic), he then claims that we had not supplied him with any viewers, and he did all the work himself. Before people started streaming like he did, you either went to TMC or EN24 for news about big things in eve since they were around, and they the easiest way to get intel. We pulled the number of redirects from EN24's embed'd stream for him one day. Forget the exact number (I'll ask and update this post when I find them), but they accounted for about 75-80% of all his views when he started to get big and thinking he was "The ****" when it came to eve.

So, my prediction is that, once he gets hired by CCP (PLEASE DONT DO IT), he'll gain a lot more success, then demand more from them, and when they refuse, he'll quit CCP and complain that all they did was mistreat him / other bullshit excuses so he has a reason to attention ***** more for more money.

So overall, hiring Mad Ani, would be the equivalent of electing Osama Bin Laden as the president of the United States. It could happen, but doing so would be the stupidest thing you could do period. You'd ruin the rep for CCP, and once Ani gets mad at you guys, his bandwagon of misinformed viewers that think he's a god of Journalism, will start complaining to CCP with him, and well, that'll just end in a lot of headaches and PR issues in the end of it all.

I'm sure you could get Kil2 or Fozzie to stream things like this, since they both are a lot more versed on EVE, and frankly aren't as annoying and are good with people. Plus, from the few times I've talked to Kil2, and from his videos (which aren't "bad" but not the best since he's only human), HE KNOWS HOW TO EXPLAIN THINGS. And, since you hired Kil2, you must already know he actually cares about this game more so than the money he gets paid for working for you guys. I don't think he'd have issues taking the time to do streaming for you guys, and to be honest, it'd be a lot more professional than what Mad Ani does... Oh, and he doesn't play unlicensed music like Ani does, because then CCP could be sued big time for Copyright Infringment.

So, have fun making your decision on hiring Ani or not. It's not going to be worth it, and it'll screw you guys over in the end a lot more than his bandwagon of viewers want you to think.

Oh, and one more thing. I'm fairly certain a lot of people would rather watch Kil2's face on a facecam (that is pointless), more so than Ani's...

Pathetic excuse for content. Just because you stream 24 hours a day does not make it worth anything. Station views are the only non-TiDi stream you have and anyone can do that for free but no one does because it is god awful. Anyone in 10% TiDi doesn't want to be there and it is HORRIBLE to watch live. You are a horrible commentator and just so wrong. Too bad you the Twitch stats do not include muted view/ers or pop-out viewers who are avoiding the comment window.

If CCP had any desire to hire a position such as this, it would and should be in the creative editing field. SO many people in these large fights record it and already put together awesome clips promoting the game and actually CREATE content by saving the viewers 2-7+ hours of viewing a snail's pace race. That is value!! Your proposition is awful and you need to get out.

Hey, so if no one dumped on him for calling himself a DJ, based on the credibility gained from finding an hour long youtube mix and hitting play, then hahahahahah.

ONE: who the hell is mintchip :p JK......

TWO: sorry no offence here mad_ani... but you are far from a "bias" point of view on the eve world at large:p

Don't get me wrong, your stream could arguably be one of the best out there, BUT.... you do have a history of, lets say.... "gagging" viewers whose personal views don't exactly align with your's, and for this reason alone i don't think you would be a "good representation" of the eve community at large.

You should just stick to what you do best :) i am sure CCP appreciates the amount of potential traffic and attention you bring to their IP... but for them to hire you based solely on the amount of people that watch your stream would not be fair for other individuals that may have contributed more substantially to the EVE universe in terms of "content" along the lines of fights, politics, and game-play feedback etc.

just an un-biased opinion from a dedicated eve player since 2003

Best of luck on any future endeavors! be it eve associated or otherwise ;)

There's some classic tragic irony in his OP, too. His aggressive bannings of anyone saying something he doesn't agree with has left just the fanboys remaining around him (see pages 1 and 2), instilling in him the notion that everyone likes him. This baits him into this post, where the reality of the situation (most people think he's a tool) hits him, killing his aspirations in a humiliating public display.

195 job applications forum posts in a few short hours is some good feedback.

I question myself as I write this, because I am unsure if you will actually read this. Perhaps you will or other streaming players will and the following will not be in vain. In no way am trying to imply these suggestions are the best or even good. Just what I would like to see from those who are looking to improve their stream for the viewers.

  • As some players have already mentioned; having solid knowledge of the game and tactics found within it are key. That doesn't mean that you need to be in the war room with the lead fleet commanders and coalition overlords, but it does imply that you do your best to understand why they do what they do.
  • Research, research, research. You see these fights happen. There is killboards. Look at the fits. Ask members of the alliance. Hell even asking to speak with the fleet commanders. You will be surprised how many are nice and have no problems explaining the tactics and fits. Perhaps even see if they will come on your VOIP and then you can interview them about a battle, fit, tactic live on your stream.
  • Donations are a touchy subject. Especially when it comes to real life money donations. Constantly asking for them is a huge turnoff. ISK donations are good and well to replace ships and even PLEX to cover the characters involved in doing the streams.
  • If you have chat windows or anything else that is TOP SECRET, then please, remove it from the screen by minimizing it or shrinking it down as small as possible to keep viewers from having to stare at other crap you have to put over it to keep it TOP SECRET. What good is a stream if 50% of it is covered with other stuff. No one cares about your corp or alliance logo plastered on the screen. So you need to decide to be either a streamer or a guy who needs to look at top secret stuff for that fight. Trying to do both will just make for giant eye sores forced on the viewers, possibly turning viewers away. If you must cover up something, try and find something nice and unoffensive to the eyes.
  • Sorry, but watching a bunch of different colored tiny squares moving around the screen is extremely boring. Recently there have been nice additions to the camera to allow for focused view on targets and such. If you are in a fight and want to stream, try to not be of a position in the fleet the requires you to be zoomed all the way out. We want to see those beautiful ships, not squares.
  • Don't be a complete jerk in your in game channel if players don't want to donate or share a different political in game view as you. It is a game after all, not some anger debat.
  • Again, really, really try and be informed. While most of the big battles are in null space and null players involved don't need explanation, most of the viewers on these streams are players from other parts of the game. So explaining what is going on is often appreciated. No one likes to be watching something and having no clue what is going on and feel left out.
  • If you are going to stream staging systems and or important timers, do try and not be bias. Sure go where the action will most likely be, but, and you know who you are, really need to stop holding grudges and move on. If two sides are at war, then it is your obligation to put cameras at both sides to cover if you have more than one camera to go around.
  • I question myself as I write this, because I am unsure if you will actually read this. Perhaps you will or other streaming players will and the following will not be in vain. As much as i will miss the opportunities to kill him for giving out intel to our enemies (yes, we've scored a few Mad Ani kills in big fleet battles) I agree that Ani should be working for CCP. He has provided a stream that brings players to Eve, provides exciting viewing for newer Eve players who are yet to experience the massive (yes tidi sucks) battles. He would be an asset to CCP and their mission to attract more players to Eve.

THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT EVE FROM WATCHING MAD ANI'S STREAM DURING THE FOUNTAIN WAR:

  • That he can say hello in 15 languages
  • That he can kinda speak German
  • That he had a Czech girlfriend
  • What his Czech girlfriend's name was
  • What his Czech girlfriend looks like

THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT EVE FROM WATCHING MAD ANI'S STREAM DURING THE DTF/N3 WAR:

  • That he broke up with his Czech girlfriend
  • That he bought a webcam so you can watch him watching people play Eve while you watch

What month is it? Is it April? Is it April 1st? No? Then what the hell is this.

The implication that having a mediocre-trance laden, gif-covered afk stream of 90% TiDi fleet battles is worth CCPs money is baffling to me.

If CCP wanted this service, they could save money by simply starting a twitch account and putting up a slideshow of a random fight. Perhaps they could sit a dead gofer in front of a webcam to serve as the dispassionate commentator.

I'm all for EVE publicity but the publicity from this stream is more internal than external. Quite frankly I would never have started this game if his stream was my first exposure and I'm quite certain I'm not alone in that regard.

This. The music and those GIFs.. both represent the worst of the late 90s.

There is a plethora of other people that have done, or do, more for the game than just stream content. There's a line of people far more eligible to get a job at CCP than this guy.

Please tell me he wasn't really serious when he started this thread.

He wasn't serious, right?

After 2 pages of "yes please hire him +1" and 9 pages of "LOL", I totally feel like we're being trolled.

We're being trolled right?

PS: In case we're not being trolled, Mr. Ani, not only are your "services" (afk streaming while playing ****** music) not worth a damn, but by starting this petition you lost whatever few ounces of respect anyone who's played this game for more than 3 months had left for you.

This thread might as well be called "Nerd gets real job, doesn't like it, wants people to pay him to "play" Eve instead".

Oh and in case I didn't make it clear.....we're being trolled, right?
