While I am not aware of all the demographics and types of people that play, from what I have heard a majority of EvE players are old[er] :)

So I figure that there has to be at least a few of you who qualify for this post:

To all capsuleers that have served or are currently serving in the Armed Services of their respective nation, today is a day for you!

(I know, I know, different countries have different dates for appreciating their servicemen and women, but it's all the same in my eyes. Today is as good a day as any!)

I'll be enjoying my brewski, and here's to you enjoying yours!

Happy Veterans Day indeed. Indeed.

As much as that gives me a chuckle, it was rather uncalled for.

Please, check your sexual fantasies at the door. ;)

This is a thread to appreciate people, not degrade them.

You mis-understand utterly. The military degrades those new recruits with such nonsense.

And I do support our veterans who did serve, as did my father (Colonel in USArmy).

To be fair, it was easy to mistake your post for one of the try-hard trolls that lurk here in GD.

And you are correct about the nonsense (and some degradation). It happens for 'x' months, then you get over it, or remember it and laugh heartily. Though, in today's world of political correctness and our thin-skinned generation, it's had to be toned down quite a bit due to people taking things to heart. I personally never heard anybody singled out and called a '******' or racially discriminated. Though I will admit, more general and commonly used expletives were used frequently. Lol

Cheers to pops!

Discovered today that Youtube has eerily initiated convoluted age verification and other nonsense to even view the clips from "Full Metal Jacket" of R. Lee Ermey.

I wonder if FaceBook (which I left over 3 years ago) has age verification for the beheading videos that are most indeed allowed ?

Think its not a big deal go spend some time in North Korea or China and see how bad it is not to hae complete freedom of speech... and other thingd we take for granted.

For the record I am Canadian, but that shouldn't change anything.

That is another topic entirely.

Though I will say it is rather odd that people can allow that type of behavior and content to be spread all over the website that their children are on.

And you'd think with all this exposure and desensitization that people would actually have THICKER skin. Not the case.

Some people say the world works in mysterious ways, but it's really just them.

I don't think it has to do with thick skin or the like... I would rather say it's a matter of respect.

Was called a lot worst during my time in the military.

But, the important part is, that those people were respectful towards me and had earned my respect.

From my perspective, we did this to test people to see what they could take, and if they could give it back.

Now, I work with a number of people that try this to me, but cry to high Heaven when I give it back.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

Damn right.

When i did my basic and then office training we got called everything by the sergeant instructors, especially since we wanted to be officers... they lay it on extra then. Shocked

All this did was help me develop a skin as thick as an elephant. Stood me well in that while the idea of being hollered at by my old sergeant, being shouted at and threatened by mere rich people is like having attacked by a butterfly. Lol

Still, stay safe to my former comrades in arms.

o7, veterans!

This is a good chance for everybody to remember the people that came back from deployment physically disabled or with PTSD. (PTSD is a physical neurological condition, not a psychological condition, btw. People with PTSD are not wusses, they're people with neurological damage).

As the old slogan used to go, "Don't forget, hire a vet!"

Normandy in Newfoundland

Not really specifically dealing with PTSD I really like the above song (and accompanying video) as it shows/represents how the horrors of war can often stay with a someone long after they are discharged and the war(s) are long over.

Here's the place to send money that has probably done more for PTSD Vets than any other organization I know:

http://www.davidlynchfoundation.org/military.html

(yes, that's THE David Lynch)
