Apparently the GMs can't help me with this for whatever reason, so they redirected me here. I bought EVE on Steam and use Steam to run it, so I don't have an actual normal EVE account I guess. I'd like to get on the Singularity server, but my EVE account was made through Steam so I don't know what my login for the Singularity server would be, If I'd had a normal name there wouldn't be a problem, but my name on Steam at the time I bought EVE uses symbols not available for the launcher login page. Thank you for your time

I have to login to EVE webpages through steam. I don't have the option to do that on the launcher.

It sounds like you need to submit a petition to find out your account name/login info, or have it changed.

I actually already submitted a ticket. They redirected me here.

Why would anyone use such a terrible DRM system as Steam to download and run a game that doesn't need it? With games I have no choice in using with Steam, I've had lots of issues almost all of which are tied to Steam and how badly designed and maintained it is. Honestly, as soon as you're able to just ditch Steam and download the proper client from the EVE site, you'll have far fewer problems.

Either way, I hope you get Sisi up and running as it can be a lot of fun.

Submit a ticket asking how to login without steam.

Or how to retrieve your Username.

Well I bought it on Steam because it was only $5 last summer, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. Since I did that, I don't have a normal EVE account, I have to use Steam to login to EVE or I cannot at all. I don't have a normal eve account that I can just type into the normal client. Hence my problem with Sisi

When first buying the game its always 5$. Only thing you pay for with eve is 5 bucks the first time and 15 bucks a month after.

Did you go through: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6573-GZXN-7027

Scroll down to the "Setting up / Accessing your Eve Online Account" part.

That seems to show how you can get at your user name info. It looks to use your steam account name with the EVE account name but that may not match up (already used so it generated one) but that would show in the account info page for EVE.

Simple answer, some people do not want to throw their credit card information all over the internet. After all if someone wants to steal it they can. I use steam as I can get a steam wallet card and not use my credit card info at all.

Steam users don't have a username/password pair in the traditional sense of EVE accounts. However, when connecting to Singularity you need to provide the '/server:singularity' command line parameter. Fortunately Steam allows you to pass arguments to the application simply by right clicking the game in your library and then using the 'Set Launch Options' button to pass in arguments.

It should look like this http://i.imgur.com/DVQyyAU.png

I should warn you though, you will be modifying your Tranquility install so that you can connect to Singularity, which could have some side effects when connecting back to Tranquility including, but not limited to, having to patch and repatch when connecting back to TQ, and updating to the EVE Launcher to the latest in-development build which might be incompatible with your TQ install.

would paypal not be acceptable? It sounds like you're jumping through an awful lot of hoops to get a product without full functionality (or even ownership of your account).

Follow the instructions except make a copy of the eve folder in steam/steamapps/common rename it.

Then basically flip the names of the folders depending on which your running and remove the /server setting.

Far easier of course to just go get a normal client and setup that way.

Really the Devs should put Singularity as the Beta option for steam users so they just toggle it on or off.

I understand that, I could modify the client to function on the singularity server, but it also makes the purpose moot due to the possible issues that would likely happen. Although it is nice that I would be able to do it there is an even easier fix that would really just make the system overall smoother for most people and lower hardware requirements for steam users. I say this as although you don't have a username and password in the traditional sense you receive a unique ID number and Key that is linked to said number to verify the authenticity of the log in query made by the user, you also have the user's email address thus you could make the option for it so that a steam user can use a normal client. I will use myself as in an example for this, I currently exceed the recommended settings for everything the game uses, but due to having to use a very bloated and clunky client due to steam using a large portion of RAM the longer the computer is running so in reality the 4Gb recommended should really be 6Gb for steam users but that is not stated, nor does it seem as steam users do not have easy access to test servers to test such things it goes unnoticed which in the end reduces the quality of the game for said user due to a hidden requirement.

On the note of the Idea you brought up Hawk, yes that would work but that is a complete workaround instead a true fix to the issue. Also I didn't really think about paypal when I saw i could get the game for $5 on steam.
