does something daft and causes your account to lose things, that CCP will refund it because it's kinda mean that someone else can cause damage to your characters that way

is this true y/n

I currently don't share accounts because it's clearly against the TOS, but CCP seem to think otherwise recently...

Not sure if serious?

I would hope that CCP are not refunding in situations like account sharing.
I suspect you are referring to something that has happened recently (that I am obviously not aware of)

Heard it through the grapevine?

Are you sure you didn't hear it from the eight threads screaming it at you on the front page of this very forum section?

According to that one guys API this happened. He claims his brother was responsible for a massive loss, API seemed to agree that the loss happened, then somethingsomething API seems to show things being reset.

Didn't CCP Falcon say these threads would be considered spam and locked?

You mean lock threads that are concerned about the sandbox being interfered with, and in which EULA violations are not only being allowed to happen but appear to be given assistance?

I'd be very surprised if that happened!

From what I have seen/heard, the guy got scammed out of a lot of isk and decided to pod himself or got podded repeatedly on an alpha clone to the point where he lost 17 million SP. He then sent in a petition to the GMs stating his brother who had access to the account did it. He got back the SP and might also have got back all of the isk as well as having the killmails scrubbed from the record.

My info is sketchy on this so the story is likely to change but right now it looks like a rather bad breach of the rules by GMs.

Sharing account information is against the EULA and as such, CCP would not help you in the event a friend took all your stuff because you gave him your password.

Why is this so hard for people?

As the guy that did the podding, I can confirm that this is how things happened. As for the guy asking for proof that this all happened, I've got an API showing his current everything, and that does indeed show his SP being reset.

CCP Falcon did give a reply in the 20+ page thread that proper action had been taken in accordance with the EULA and TOS. The API I have on file SEEMS to suggest that this means at the very least a temporary ban, as his skill queue is inactive. (We all know how that doesn't happen often.) Though the SP remains at his pre-podding level.

I've read the article from erotica, too. evenews24 is more reliable...

I thought it was quite straight forward too

but now it seems more nuanced than that.

Perhaps the scale of the damage done, and the level of sad puppy-ness of your pleas count for something after all

I heard through the grapevine that Erotica is quite mad at EVE GMs. Is this true? c/d

I'm going to take a differing perspective than my CODE buddies, on this one.

I'm OK with the whole "brother" thing. People take the metagame waaay too far at times. It would really suck if someone were to compromise my main's password, and nuke my SP to oblivion. Having the option to get that fixed, I think, is a good thing.

I know, strong passwords and all, but..folks can be *dedicated* in their revenge.

Conversely, I feel that anyone abusing the ability to fix a genuinely compromised account deserves a permaban.

Well we do know something has happened and the story is likely true. The only thing I am not sure about is if the isk that was scammed was returned or not.

If not then I dont have much of an issue, the guy likely raged after the scam, did something stupid and then got lucky in the GMs refunding his SP but landed a 2 week ban.

If they returned the isk then they have opened a rather bad abuse of the petition system.

'shared' is the word some people use.
'was hacked' was the phrase used in the request to CCP.

Or so the story goes. Not exactly the same thing.

I think fixing accounts that have been "compromised" is fine

But if you allow someone else to control your account, and they do something you don't like, then it's a big no-no
