Hey fellow capuleers. I have been playing eve online for about 7 days now, and I have rocketed through the different ship types faster than I would have thought I could. At this point I am looking to upgrade to a battle cruiser. My thorax has been ripping through missions incredibly quickly, so I thought it best not to change the fitting too much, but I would still like help before I drop 60m on a ship that I built poorly.

For starters, my play style is sniping with drone support to take out the more mobile targets. I orbit a target and start shooting, and if a ship comes within 15 kilometers of me I will swap m orbit to them to keep my distance, so for me speed and range are really important. Here is my build concept:

Also note that the tech levels will be improved as I acquire the needed skills.

High
6X 200mm prototype Gauss Gun
Med
1X experimental 10MN Afterburner I
3X Cap Recharger II
Low
2X Magnetic field stabilizer II
1X medium 'accommodation' vestment reconstructer I
2X Adaptive nano plating II
1X mission specific defensive fitting
Rigs
2X Medium hybrid metastasis adjustor I
1X medium capacitor control circuit I

Feedback would be loved, just note that I am really new to the game, so keep it constructive. The fitting is stable and removing any of the rechargers cuts the time I can run everything down to 7 minutes.

Edit: I forgot to mention the ship I am looking at is the Brutix.

1. Don't use 200mm use 250mm Prototype Gauss
2. You don´t need to be cap stable, gank is tank, therefore fit a third Mag Stab, 2 mission specific hardeners and the medium bonused repairer should be enough for level 3s I´d suggest you build up some more skills first before you try though. (Drones V and the like, fitting, cap, ability to fit T2 hardener etc )

High:

6x 250mm Prototype Gauss

Med:

1x 10MN Experimental Afterburner
3x Optical Tracking Computer (Fit Tech II if you can) get both scripts for range and optimum exchange 1 for a web if you feel like you are having too much trouble when the rats get too close but 3 tracking scripted computers should do the trick

Low:

1x Medium Accomodation Vestment Reconstructor
2x mission specific hardeners
3x Mag Stab II

10x Hobgoblins (IIs if you can Is otherwise)

Rigs:
3x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

what is it with rookies these days and not having terrible fits? You're pretty close to something good for your SP. Note that drone ships are the premier ships of gallente PVP, although gallente gunships are a lot closer than they have been historically. Make sure to prioritize drone skills in the coming months.

7 minute runtime is more than enough (especially as you're probably fully stable with AB off). Drop a recharger for a web so you can do better vs close-range things. Or a tracking computer.

Get hull upgrades 4 so you can use rat-specific active hardeners. They are the bomb-diggity of having a good tank with low sp vs specific rats.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

I tried out the 250MM guns... They used about 300 more energy than I could afford. Overall I only loose 5 DPS and less than 5km range (Before mag stabs calculated) by using 200MM, so it will have to due. As for the optical and web idea... I like it. I used to rely too heavily on my hobgoblins to get the faster ones for me, I like that idea. Swapping the 2 generic armors for mission specific armor and another mag stab makes perfect sense, and when I have more money I will start doing that... But the build leaves me with 3 minutes of run time, and I can't do that. Will probably swap 1 or 2 optical for another recharger. Else I like that build :)

Thank you for the complement, I did a looooooot of theory crafting for that build. I plan to swap to drones soon but I want to get a reliable mission runner first, and drones take much much longer to train than guns. I will post more about my build when I am back to my computer tomorrow. On phone right now, so it is hard to quote you guys, but thank you for the help :)

3 Minutes of cap is ok since you won´t be ABing all the time and you will mostly be just pulsing the repper and the gist of 250mm is the range advantage, you want to kill targets as soon as they are in range, 250mm loaded with tungsten for example will give you 17 km range advantage over 200mm with perfect skills, optimum all out to your maximum target range (with 3 tracking comps)

With iron charge and perfect skills you get 57 km optimum out of the 200mm, with the 250mm its 76 km,as you can see you could still use tungsten on the 250mm and still have more optimum than the 200mm, in fact you can use iridium charge on the 250mm for the same range as the 200mm but with a much higher dps again with my suggested fit in mind, the gap increases even more when you move on to T2 but I think you already catch my drift.

Provided all level 5 skills and the above fit you get 218 dps @57km optimum for the 200mm using iron.
For the 250mm loaded with iridium you get 320dps @57km optimum, even with reduced skills the gap is pretty obvious and noticeable in game!

If you fall short on powergrid (I assume thats what you meant with 300 energy more than you could afford) train your fitting skills weapon upgrade, cpu management, power grid management to IV at least, you will want them at V anyways soon, to free up some fitting space.
