Question about zooming

Hello.

When you zoom in on something ingame with the left and right mouse buttons pressed at the same time and move the mouse forward to zoom, you will normally reset that zoom when you releases those 2 mouse buttons. But sometimes i manages to lock the zoom after doing that for some reasons.

I have no idea how that happens, but i would really like to know if there actually is a feature to lock the zoom like that, because its quite handy if you like to zoom in on things that are far away (things that are over 150 km away doesn't have the 'Look at' button, so i have to zoom like i told over then). So if there is something you have to do to activate that, then let me know how to do that.

Or is that zoom lock thing i get sometimes a bug?

Use ... the ... mousewheel ? *confused*

Don't say you don't have a mousewheel...

That's, like ... ancient ... man .......

Edit: Anyhow, to answer your question:

Sounds like you're not always actually pressing both buttons.
There is a different kind of zoom when you use only the right mouse button,
which isn't actually a zoom, but more of a change of the FOV.
This one always snaps back to the original state.

When you only use the left mouse button, you just goes in 3D around your current ship. If you press the right mouse button, you can see all around you. If you press both of the buttons, you can zoom in on something that is 150 km from you just to take an example.

It's this what im thinking on. Also how to lock the zoom on the station (for example) that is 200 km away from me without getting reset back to the normal zoom after releasing both of the buttons.

I too want to know how to enable this "zoom lock". It happens maybe 1/10 times...

As far as I have observed this it locks the zoom level most ofthe time if your cursor is on an object while releasing both mouse buttons.

What does zooming have to do with Interceptors?

Interceptors go zoom!

After Rubicon, it'll be more like zoom zoom!!!

That's what zooming has to do with interceptors.

I can't remember the exact key combo, but try pressing Ctrl or alt at the same time as you are zoomming in. There is a way to lock that kind of zoom for sure. I've done it lots, I just can't remember the exact combo. Give Ctrl a whirl!

Can't get it to work now. So not sure if that's the other way to do it.
