Fly a Curse.

^^ This:
If you can't fly a curse, an arbitrator is your next best option:

To stop a hi-sec gank, you need to provide reps to the hulk, or stop the incoming dps.

If limited to Amarr, the curse is your best option...

3x Tracks with optimal range will drop a Brutix's neutron blaster range to 0.2 + 0.7 km's.... i.e., you will negate 50%+ of the Brutix's damage, until he moves on top of the hulk.

5x EC-600's have a 35% chance of jamming the brutix.... this is a big deal when he's trying to fight the concord timer. Additionally, 5x medium bonused drones will make short work of hi-sec rats, and can destroy almost any lowsec rats too.

5x Neut II's. It will take you 10 neut II cycles to drain a brutix, at 12s/cycle, you can have the brutix capped out in about 13-15 seconds, depending on how fast you lock. Note: You need dual cap booster in the mids, and you'll still cap out on around the 3rd neut cycle. It takes 5 cycles to neut out a thorax, and 2 to neut out a dessie. Neuts will stop hybrids, lasers, smartbombs, and ewar.

Final note: Suicide alpha BS's will still take out your precious miners, unless they tank themselves. Its trivially easy to put a 25+k EHP tank on a hulk, (DCU, MAPC, MSE, 3xIF, rigs).... with gang bonus', this will hit well above 30k EHP. This is their best defense. If they don't tank with a MSE and DCU, then nothing short of a jams will stop their demise.

There is really no point to flying security for a high sec mining op, especially with just 1 pilot, you won't deter anything.

your CEO must hate the crap out of you. There's no way to protect against an alpha strike intent on killing you miners. At least one will die every time.

It is a neat challenge on how to keep them alive ... I've been pondering this questions for some time now and I don't know if anything short of a logi shield rep has a chance (pre-locked, shield drones out) ... and even then I dont know you'll do it report any success here.

If they are using arty pests to gank, you might as well forget about the hulk. But if they use smaller ones like thorax/thrashers etc, then using a shield logi will give you a good chance of survival. Armor logi won't be good.

That said, mining is a boring job. Watching the miners mine is mind numbingly boring. The chance of the logo pilot being attentive enough to activate the reps after the first shot lands is very slim. Although it can work if the logo is an alt of a miner.

But instead of wasting an alt like that, u can use him for an orca or another hulk and find a quiet, out-of-the-way hi sec system and mine. Its risky, but more useful imo.

It is an interesting thought challenge if nothing else.

Problem: Protecting a miner from a dedicated gank is impossible.

Now think up ways to make it possible.

ECM bursts might work if you wanna keep your miner alive and just lose whatever ship you're flying...... but if it's expendable, so what? Get-r-done.

And a new corp, imo

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.
