No comms for explorers

So, I'm currently at work and don't know if this has been asked before (and I will update later) but:

Has CCP ever considered, what with the exploration expansion and all, to disable comms (global, corp, alliance, and other chat channels) for people venturing into unknown space?

I have a few ideas on what and how could this be done and a very long justification as to why it should be done and I will add to this thread as soon as I finish work.

Placing it here for discussion initiation.

That's not how faster-than-light communication with quantum entanglement works.

Quantum entaglement communication would entail that the state of the observed particle (electron spin for example) be predictable - which has been proven to not be the case. Therefore, quantun entaglement communications is mathematically impossible (at least at the moment).

If that is the lore of Eve when it comes to comms, then we have a problem with the lore and scientific plausibility.

Ninja edit; I see your point though, following any type of other comm justification would be impossible.

You mean like, disable all the chat channels this dude who just went into a WH has, so he ... ... just speaks to them on Teamspeak / whatever other out-of-game communication tool?

Is there really even such a thing as "unknown space" in Eve?

I'm pretty sure there is. I once found Asteroids on a Safespot i made while warping.

This is a really bad idea. No matter how realistic or immersive it may be, it's terrible game design.

This has some 'nerf AFK cloaking' overtones to it. Ill keep an eye on this.

Uhh...why? This would just punish smaller groups, as the bigger ones already have jabber, mumble, teamspeak etc all set up and ready...

Because spaceships traveling multitudes of AU a second is possible with current technology.

so all this does it hurt the people not in corps/alliances where 3rd party comms is offered. Crew has a person or persons who spring for ts, jabber, mirc, etc so they'd still have this.

How exactly is this a good thing? Game gives enough reasons to join the "blob" as it were....doesn't really need more tbh.

I'd say the flight model Eve uses would be a bigger problem if you care about scientific plausibility.

Where is the surface? Where is the surface?

And regarding to initial topic. I don't see any reason for disabling comms, but there should be an option to do so manually anyway. (oh yeah, to pretend to be offline?..)

rather than disable, I would like to see a form of delay on showing up in local. Countless nullbear ganks have been ruined because the moment you jump in through a wormhole they know you are here. In that sense wormholes are no more "unknown" than other nullsecs.

I see, nice way to go around the problem, although highly unlikely. On the other hand, these are internet spaceships we are talking about so anything is possible.

Anyway, turns out this is an unintended spam thread because OP is a *** who didn't do their reading on EVE lore.

This is stupid. And even if you had some justification to make it worthwhile, it would still be stupid because its simply not feasible, due to alts and out-of-game channels. And I realize that "stupid" is kind of an insulting word for someone's ideas, particularly when posted in this part of the forums. But I feel the idea is bad enough in so many different ways to justify use of the word.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**
