Making faction warfare relevant to the rest of the game

Here's a simple idea to make faction warfare significant to the main PVP playerbase: Give alliances who join one of the militias daily LP just for holding sov. Alliances would be able to choose several ways to distribute LP to players and member corps and corp members would be able to spend LP in player-owned stations. There would be some other penalty (like not being able to take sov from other alliances in your militia, or extra taxes payable to the faction) to create a balanced tradeoff between FW alliances and alliances that choose to remain neutral.

The benefits of this would be a larger variety of fleet doctrines (since navy ships would be more accessible in nullsec) and it would also break up the power blocs, and even give lowsec or NPC nullsec corps a reason to raid sov space even if they can't actually hold sov (killing players in an enemy militia does give you loyalty points right?.) The steady, passive flow of LP would most likely appeal to carebear alliances, while other alliances will probably stay independent and just try to kill everyone.

TL;DR: Lots of drama, lots of goodfites, and passive income.

Because this would never be abused in any way, shape or form, right?

Before you suggest something, it helps to stop and ask yourself:

Beisde, as already pointed out, passive incomes should be removed from the game, not increased. But there's a basic missunderstanding in this idea. FW sov is not designed to be "held".

That's the basic difference between null sov and fw sov:

1. In null sov system PvP is a way to gain sov and control resources.
2. In FW sov is a mere framework to fuel PvP

It's a major difference.

In #1 sovreignity is the goal and PvP is the tool.
In #2 PvP is the goal and sov system is the tool.

I think FW zone control - empire faction should be made, but should be more like: if a militia drop below a specific tier tax rate in the linked empire faction area are slightly increased. But should be more symbolic, a reminder, than economically relevant.

Keep un mind FW is already a big nerf to the realtive HS missioner: when minmatar are winning they flood the market with items from LP stores that are basically the same as from L4 missions.

Another idea to give Alliance fat cats even more passive income which they will then just keep for themselves rather than equitably distributing it in happy fairly land like OP seems to think. In other words, No.

hate to say it but this. Just a few of them at FW's new change introduction ran up a nice system to the tune of trliions of isk as I recall. The just skylined themselves by iirc telling ccp jsut how broke their new system was. Others out there could work some angles with this I am sure lol.

Also not sure about his get more navy ships in 0.0 bit. The funding is there now with current lp/isk rate. Unless the ratter is having a bad run of luck anyway. Its not lp distrobution issues limiting this.

Its jsut short of some small gang doctrines that work around their abilities the price for performance just not their for more general use.

Nothing magical is happening on a pos bash with a navy mega over a vanllia one really. Well it might make a pos gunner's day more interesting.

I absolutely concur with the previous posters' opinion on that idea. It's plain and simple a bad idea.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.
