Do you think it has anything to do with the acronyms for either game?

I call it bullshit. LoL is a free game. Anyone can make "20m players" and be the top. Worthless news. Only valid if you actually have active paying subscription.

Dont get me wrong tho, i play lol almost daily, but news like this is bs, like how world of tanks got "most co-current users".

Its a pretty impressive set of statistics, especially the 4.2 million daily players figure. Those are the people who are most suitable to being tapped for cash, either in microtransactions or some sort of premium membership. I gather they already sell access to characters that way.

Congrats to them on such I high amount of Players.

I really do hate it when a free game compares itself to World of Warcraft though. =/

You have to buy every expansion just to get the full game, then you have to pay $180 a year just to play it. I pay $180 for EVE already and don't want to buy all those expansion on top of the sub cost, that's the biggest reason I have never tried WoW.

I could try LoL for free and play w/o ever paying a cent. LoL is big, but start charging $15 a month if you really wanna see how you stack with WoW. Till then comparison is moot.

Been playing leauge of legends since my friend made me get it, shortly after they started going beyond their initial set of champions. I have 1,000+ games played and I understand it well. Unfortunately I am, and have always been, very bad at these types of games so I don't carry much clout as far as stats, even though I do understand what's going on. The control scheme and unlocked camera just does not work for me after playing so many action RPG's.

Their champion designs are just bad and their fan base argues numbers like they can fix a terrible ability kit setup. Plus too many flashes, blinks, and warps. Every time you do anything cool every enemy zips away. Some champions, including a summoner spell choice, can blink three times or even more in a row. Others have blinks and warps on ridiculously short timers. I think we're at around 80 champions, and I can think of 37 off the top of my head that have short instant or near instant transport a short distance. Take out the trash champions that have terrible kits and nerfed numbers like Karma, add in the fact ANY champion can have a blink move with a summoner spell choice, and basically every team has 3-4 instant moves which go off every team fight.

Still, it's simple and easy, and most of the players are what you'd expect in a free game. Unreal tournament and counter strike refugees that think they're pro because they get amazing scores by screwing over their team in a team game. My friend IRL still plays it so I still do on occasion. Kind of like checkers in my mind. Easy to jump into as something to play, but I laugh at those who pretend it has any depth.

Wait for DoTA2.
Valve is a better company, DoTA is a better game.

And the neither community is better than the other. Matter of fact probably in the running for the worst communities.
