High Security Merc Corps Questions re. Client Anonymity and Payments

A couple of questions for Merc Corps who operate in high security:

1. Is it common or rare to be contracted for an assignment by someone who wants complete anonymity? In other words, does a typical assignment involve you joining in on an already established wardec or is it more common to just be told, "Use your awesome professional skills to get these guys and leave me out of it." Or a roughly even split of both?

2. Is it more common to negotiate a flat fee for a specific period of time or a goals-based fee (e.g. kill the CEO and x% of corp members or x amount of ISK in total losses)? I suspect it is the latter however I'd be curious if anyone wants to share any special arrangements they have had.

I ask because a 'friend' of mine (we'll call him 'Al T.') is a Director in a profitable corporation focused on industry and trade. Al is a generous sort who has managed to keep his company under the radar and out of trouble. Over the past couple of months a situation has arisen where a bunch of carebear miners from another corporation have spoiled the party. Their sin isn't so much getting in the way but being that most of the members are alts/bots/afk miners. We've watched them from the porch swing and you can almost tell when the next line of the macro kicks in.

Bottomline -- Al wants them harassed, betrayed, blown up. Whatever gets them to disband or move on. But, he doesn't want to be connected to the impending hurt. If that happens, the whole House of Cards (Kevin Spacey) could come crashing down.

Any answers to the above questions would be appreciated. Anyone interested in a possible contract should contact me knowing that I will be your ONLY contact throughout the engagement and you will not know which corporation is picking up the tab.

1. Anonymity is generally common. Most often the contract is done through a throwaway alt so the true client may never be revealed.

2. This generally depends on the type of contract and area of space. Harassment deals are usually time period based, and emphasis is sometimes given by the client on whom they would truly wish to see hurt (this generally is not considered part of the deal itself however). POS hits, WHs, Sov stuff, are generally more specific and have their own fees attached.

Pay Per Kill contracts are less common among the more regular merc groups, just because PPK is a pain to recover the isk from. With anonymous clients, its pretty much impossible to get them to pay up at the end of the contract period if they choose to snub you.

That said, for the type of dec you are describing, you'll want mercs who actually hunt to harass rather than solely use trade hubs / pipes to harass, since your goals are somewhat specific. You may also want to compare the active times of your targets with the active times of the merc group you're looking to hire.

Good luck.

As i assume your corp is compliant with http://www.minerbumping.com/p/the-code.html you might want to fund a few catalysts for the good folk over there and point them at the evil botters /bot aspirants.

I reccommend buying permits for all your miners (if u haven't already) and then buying some shares in the enterprise.
Dual account training will also allow you to make yourself catalyst pilots that can aid in James 315's great cause.

They benefit, you benefit , high sec benefits.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

Thank you for sharing this information. Great points. I should have thought for a minute about PPK and how it would be silly for anyone to use that option if there is no escrow involved.

We wouldn't want this to look like a random act of ganker violence. Message sending is worth the ISK and sending in a handful of Red Bull fueled kids who think Axe Body Spray is an alternative to bathing isn't the right message.

What he said.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Chribba is the Chuck Norris of EVE.
