I'm just happy I'm not a SQL database in EVE during a big fight.

The hardware for Tranqulity is already pretty much cutting-edge. Only a few more things can be done to run the current EVE engines smoothly under large loads. That would be further optimising of code, which has already been accomplished to a large degree, or throw horribly expensive Disk Arrays and many more CPU's into it. The coding technology CCP have employed to run EVE is cutting edge as it is.

I just think that many players have little or no inkling as to how EVE runs, the code segments, the databases, the synchronising. It's huge and scary, no matter how good a developer you think you are, there is nothing on the market right now which has to deal with the data streams EVE deals with.

Oh wait, I think someone something SimCity online. Oops.
I guess that didn't work out well there.

Way more complex than Op may be prepared to believe or accept.
"Fix it" doesn' cut it.

As for the general reason for the crash, this is what happens when you try to bring even more people into a system that wasn't reinforced, there is little CCP can do to improve, definitely nothing hardware, there may be software improvements that can be done to optimize performance, but very little can be done in general to improve performance until hardweare develops more. and even then, as CCP have said, they make servers that can handle 1500, we bring 2000, they make the server handle 2000, we bring 2500, they're fighting a loosing battle.

Finally, I am so pissed, I was sat at work watching the Mad Ani twitch stream screaming at my phone that I was missing it all.


Bullshit the number in local was stable.

They have to expand on the 2000 limit to 6000.. that is more realistic number now for players in null. Those size battles are possible. having capped 2000 and that alone is barely enough to keep the node crashing and the node was crashing at 1870... Things need to change..

You can GF all you want. But if that node hadn't crashed you wouldn't be saying GF right now. Youd be trying to figure out how your gonna defend your space against all those angry russians without your capital superiority.

And for the record i'm against all node crashes. If CCP had a better way to manage these massive fights then there would be even more awesome fights. We all know there are plenty of people out there who just don't wanna spend 8 hours at their desk playing a game. If these fights could be brought down to a more manageable time frame then so many more people would join up.

And for the record i'm not a goon.

Suddenly three systems are filled with thousands of people,
leading to people complaining about how not every system has it's own node.

Those who complain aren't actually thinking people. The amount of attention they get is

Fix tidi by allowing supers to only fit 3 modules "rock" "paper" and "scissors", they can then only engage one hostile super each in a best out of 3.
