What Ship Balancing Does the Community Want to See Next?

First in Rubicon 1.1, I would love to see CovOps (not Bombers) and Assault Frigates balanced.

In Summer 2014, I would finally love to see the nerf bat hit the T3 cruisers.

CovOps are badly in need of some PvE love balancing in their exploration/hacking roles with some additional offense. Assault Frigates need their distinction back as they're not that much better than the less specialized frigates and faction frigates.

Covops don't need offense, they're deliberately weaker in firepower than T1 frigs due to stealth spec. And their ability to light covert cynos, that's a lot of power.

Black Ops BS need some serious love though, bonuses on them are a tad hodgepodge.

I'm not talking about major offense here, but more than the one freaking drone the Helios has. Or the one free high slot they have after fitting their other required items.

Covops are fine.
What I would like to see is (Amarr) recon rebalance aswell as destroyers. Yes they had been rebalanced farily recently but theyre seriousy underpowered in terms of speed, in the current state they cant compete with Cruisers and some have even difficulties with Battlecruisers.

Assault frigates received a role bonus and are now very usable. I don't see covops needing a balance at all. What you're looking for is the new Sisters of EVE frigate.

Deep Space Transport ships haven't had their cargoholds updated like their T1 counterparts yet. I would also like to see the Succubus, Phantasm, Cruor, and Ashimmu made more useful, although I can't immediately think of a way to do that.

I'd like to so Blops rebalanced, as well as Recons (more capacitor please). Assault Frigs were the first ship line to be rebalanced way back in Incarna (?) 1.1, although some small tweaks would never hurt.

T2 Transports and Covert Ops and Freighters.

T2 Transports are now lagging behind the T1 ones, especially due to the presence of the special-bay Industrials. But in general, I'd just like to have them looked at, with a view to updating their stats, making sure they are legitimately better than T1 indies in at least some functions both in high-sec and low/0.0, and I'd particularly like to see a greater reward for high Transport skill, rather thant the current +5/lvl bonuses.

Much the same with Covert Ops. T1 scan frigates are now in many ways superior for exploration work, with their drone bays and so forth. Even if T2 Covert Ops aren't meant to be a direct evolution of T1 scan frigates, they still need to be looked at and given some kind of boost.

As for Freighters, I'm not sure they need any changes, but I'd very much like CCP to look at them and at the least state formally that Freighters are working as intended and don't need any changes. But personally, I think a slight increase in high-sec suicide gank resistance is appropriate. Or, of course, the eternal debate of whether to give them module slots but reduce their cargo capacity proportionally so that you must fit RIGs and LOW expanders to bring them back up to current cargo hold sizes.

Recons. Especially the pilgrim, which has been in a sorry state for a long, long time.

Blockade runners are pretty awesome already, but DSTs could use some love. In particular I'd like to see them swap the in-built WCS bonus for immunity to bubbles instead. It fits their background fluff well and is well-balanced by their poor agility.

This is my expectation of the progression, not what i would like to see. Some things are not needed, but probably will be done anyways.

  1. Recons
  2. Black Ops
  3. ...heavy interdictors? (would they need one? logical progression)
  4. Navy/Pirate ships (special addition too if needed)
  5. T3
  6. Tier 3 battlecrusiers (slight nerf IMO, very slight like 5% reduced DPS)
  7. Capital + T2 industrials (orca, rorqual, freighters, JF, transports)
  8. FULL CAPITAL REBALANCE (2016)

1. T3 nerf
2. Recons
3. Pirate ships
4. rest of T2 ships including AF nerf 12 slots compared to 10 slots on all other frigs is insane OP

and can be done anytime soon
- make ABC's into T2 bc's

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

2. Mach/Cyna nerf.

Combat Recons

Force Recons are good, but their "Combat" counterparts really need some love in survivability compared to the "Cloaky" versions. They need a niche to fit in, at the moment they are mostly just subpar versions of the Force Recon Ships. Only exception here is the Curse which has at least superior Neutralizer Range compared to the Pilgrim.

Rook, Lachesis and Huginn need more hitpoints, Range or Utilityslots to make them a really tactical choice beside that they are mostly a bit cheaper to their Sisterships. And please don't just buff the damage output of these. There are allready plenty of ships that fill the Damagedealer role in a fleet.

Blackops also strongly needs a overhaul.

Recons and Assault Frigs, both vary wildly between solid and hopeless and a solid rebalance would mix everything up again \o/

Here's what I'd like to see, in order:

Black Ops: I've been getting on more and more of these, and they are cool.. but, they seem to be more of a expensive "toy" with some tactical value, rather than a strategic asset. I think the big problem is that CCP needs a better definition/understanding/game plan for the entire system dealing with Black Ops.

Recons: Yeah, they've needed an update for a long time. The Force Recons(the ones with Cov Ops cloaks) I think are pretty okay in general, really can't point any huge holes in them. However, the Combat Recons are pretty weak and their "improved" firepower/tank simply doesn't compare to the versatility of either the Force Recons or T3 cruisers.

Deep Space Transports: As I've mentioned before in this forum, Deep Space Transports are pointless at this time. Not enough tank to survive even a small gate camp, no firepower, slow and lumbering and far too expensive. They carry far less than their Tech 1 counterparts and those Tech 1 counterparts can field a better tank and weaponry. While they are intended to be the middle road between Blockade Runners and Jump Freighters, since they lack any serious ability to avoid engagements, no one will ever use them for that purpose.

Tech 3 cruisers: I think they are too expensive and too powerful. Since they were intended to be Jack of all trades type ships, they need to be the ships in between the Tech 1 Combat focused ships and the more task specialized Tech 2 ships. Not the OMGWTFBBQ-do-everything-awesome cruisers they currently are. However, for this to happen and to not wipeout the WH economy, the ships need to use less materials per ship to use. Ideally they should be a ship that a poor/low-hour player can easily save up for.

Rook when fit for jamming has a pathetic 2-3k ehp. Fit it to have some buffer and you might as well run a HAC.

Unless ecm becomes a scripted module the rook will never be a good ship and I fly the damned things.

I would like to see tech II, tier 3 battleships added. Thank you.

I want a tech II Abaddon hull damnit! We could call them heavier. . . . assault. . . . . battleships. Or just killmobiles.

Black Ops are by all accounts barely functional.

I like frigates, and AFs desperately need another pass since the T1 cruiser buff pretty much relegated them to functioning as fast, expensive destroyers (a role in which their performance varies wildly). Probably need a conceptual rework.

Deep Space Transports are pretty much a joke. Nullify them and let them haul more. Or maybe make them pocket JFs. Not both.

Module rebalancing should probably make an appearance in the near future as well.

Covert ops frigs, because the damage bonuses are useless without a way to properly fit them with their low PG
