I saw Space Engineers come across on Steam on the 23rd...and I remembered seeing a video about it, so I bought it. It was dirt cheap so why not?

Turns out, the game is still in alpha, and most of the options are disabled, but im telling you...that game...is somehow addicting.

At the moment, its just legos in space. But if you loved legos as a kid...then you are going to love legos in space! I started by making small ships..then graduated to making massive stations..and large ships. I now find myself 3 days into making a ship that is truly massive...

Ive also found myself making Eve ships already. They kinda turn out like original NES 8-bit versions of them..but theyre still fun to fly. I had to make a Catalyst first. The game seems to be made around asteroid mining in the future..and we all know that you cant have mining without a friendly neighborhood Catalyst!

Its a great game. It has crash physics and damage too. Yes, it has its bugs, but its in alpha..of course it will! I encourage people to try it out.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

OMG that sounds awesome ! :D

I had an idea for such a game using spheres instead of bricks ...

I'll have a look into it !

Cheers ! :D

Haven't played it but it looks good.

"Everything in the game is subject to change." They're saying that on their website so there's even a chance to affect the development.

The guy floating away on the half a ship could simply slap on a couple stabilizing thrusters and a cockpit and could easily fly that half a ship around and get revenge! The game is very Minmatar in design...

It sounds sort of like Starmade except earlier in development and a lot more visually appealing.

I have been playing. Planning on making a thread for Eve ships made in Space Engineers. So far I have built an Astero and am 2/3rd done on a Hound, both more or less to scale.,

Both this and its precursor looks great. I think I will start with Miner Wars 2081.

3 nights worth of building...and my giant ship is almost halfway finished. Engineering/drive section completed (minus interior lighting) and the first body section decked out.

Looked through the Space Engineers forums, found out my 'giant ship' is nothing compared to others that have been built or being built. Even in such early stages, even this game has its lifeless basement dwellers with nothing better to do.

Guess its time to join those forums as well... and well.... do things.

I started up on Saturday. This could be a huge time sink. Waiting for the Miner Wars to be delivered. I definitely want to see these game advance as the physics engine is pretty freaking nice. It will take some orienting but I made a number of muscle memory gains within the first few minutes of playing so I figure the rest will come in time.
