Why do mercs charge 500m for wardecs that cost them 50m?

Most wars don't even result in any kills.

Wouldn't you folks be able to get more easy kills at trade hubs if you lowered prices?

If your wars dont result in any kills, your hiring the wrong mercs.

If your mercs only camp trade hubs, your hiring the wrong mercs.

If you paid a low price for a war, you hired the wrong mercs.

What if you're fine with only camping trade hubs, but you're on a budget?

If you are on a budget, you could find reasons why others would want to dec them anyway. For instance, could you get an alt into your target corp and then anger other corps?

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

I will gladly pay over 500m if I knew for sure the mercs I hire would camp the target sinto their staging system for a week.

However if I pay 500m and the mercs don't even visit the staging system of the target, then that makes me a giant sucker ok. It's not about the money I just don't want to be a giant sucker.

You make it sound easy, being a spymaster and all.

However for most of us doing such a thing takes way more than 500m of time.

Hire POD or Devils. They may charge more than 500m, but will leave your targets unable to do anything and/or exploded.

Edit: I would also recommend break-a-wish, but im not sure if they are taking contracts again.

Trawling through eve kill I don't see any examples of devils forming a 5+ man fleet.

I wouldn't even pay wardec costs for that.

Maybe they can elite 1v1 PvP missioners, but if I knew of some missioners that needed popping I'd wardec them myself.

Hell if they were loot pinata fit I wouldn't even bother with the wardec. CONCORD isn't gonna save your ass in a 0.5 system off gate.

Just my recommendations.

I have been on the receiving end of two of them, and allied with the other. Dont make the mistake of thinking they require a big fleet to perform their jobs.

Thats just what I would do, though.

In terms of wars, the thing you're looking for is kills.
As we currently got 300 wts for about 9ish guys atm, i can let you know that we got 6 logged in on average.

Overall the dec is as interruptive the the corporation getting decced as a kill would be.
Sometimes it's impossible to get a kill, sometimes it isn't.

However it's more or less how you value the dec that ends the deal.

In hs it's mostly pro pvp on stations anyway, which is why it's hard, because you gotta catch people on gates, to be sure to get a kill.

The more I learn about highsec the more it boggles my mind. Five dudes is a "blob." A pair of ships is a "gatecamp." Three ships is a "fleet." "Logistics" is some word in a different language.

What keeps highsec gangs so incredibly small compared to lowsec?

Cost. Many hisec corps fly blingy stuff that cant be attacked by just anyone like out in lowsec. Also, in hisec, there really isnt a huge need for massive fleets. You dont need to worry about being hotdropped on, and if your fleet consists of two T3 ships camping on a gate, they will most likely be able to handle whatever WT jumps through as long as they know what they are doing.

Generally the targets are not likely to engage or overestimate their odds against a larger gang. Effectiveness in small groups generally causes miscalculations, underestimations, or "I'm free to do as I like, there are only five of them" mentalities. And then someone loses a Fenrir.

Last I looked in on Devil's they had large and small gangs going all the time, but I haven't glanced at their killboard in a month or two.

And I believe we are taking contracts again. As usual, they are handled through Adriel.

There's the answer to your original question.

You don't just pay to cover the cost of the Wardec, but also for the time, effort and resources required to conduct an effective war.

If the time it would take you is worth more than 500 mil, then paying 500 mil is a bargain and you still finish ahead when compared to running the war yourself.

Pod Repo We ask for the base price of the Dec costs because we are ten guys only online from 22:00 to downtime eve time, we are not supermen but absolutely love being outnumbered and believed to be outmatched.

I believe other PvP alliances and corps make you pay that much because they believe they are like a brand name product. Yes you'll get a big name and maybe 23 hours of trade pipe traffic but you sacrifice the possibility that they will never go where target stages.

Thing is at repo if we can't cover the timezone in which your target is active we will put you in contact that can handle that timezone. The rest is on the Pod Repo forum.

I charge what I charge because in addition to the dec fee there are expenses.....ship/pod losses, locator services, etc.

Then again my main tactic is to charge in and die in a fire....:)

We got a contract on a 14 man corp 3 days ago. Through Watch Listing, Locator agents and direct observation in their home system, they have yet to either log on or, for those that actually log on, undock at all.

Some wars don't results in any kill, despite your best efforts.

Otoh, none of these guys are mining or missisonning in the meantime, and that"s a net ISK loss if you want.

It's a shame really... You know, I bet those IPODs don't even cost 150$ to make them, can you imagine?!

But maybe, just maybe... The added cost is for the rare cases where a factory burns down and a couple of hundred families are without father/mother/kids and need paying off.

I'll say that we @ The marmite collective have fleets out and about roaming 24/7, have fleets camping tradehubs 24/7 and have fleets camping the pipes inbetween tradehubs 24/7.
Than we also have the guys that hunt blingy missioners, the guys that go to null and shoot nullbears, the guys that do elite PVP in lowsec and the guys on a mission for our many clients (clients who on top of our low fees pay extra for certain kills, etc...)

So, to come back to your question, why on earth would we only ask a couple of hundred million? Clearly the service we deliver is worth billions (tip excluded).
For example, only last month, we killed 8083 Ships (741.59B ISK) and lost 360 Ships (36.26B ISK)
So.... How many wardecs you think we need to pay for the 36 Billion in losses?

The pilot should except the loss value not the customer.

Customers should be liable for war cost and Intel on target or targets. Its what we believe at Pod Repo.
