Character Bazaar: How to un-f'k it

So, ultimately, the Character Bazaar is a good place to do business. I sometimes entertain desires to buy new toons etc or just look to see how much SP is going for still.

But, I run into the same problem every single time I go into the subforum: the place is CHAOS.

WTS / WTT / WTB / WTA threads all in the same place, it's hell to pick through it all and generally makes the process annoying as all hell.

Is there an easy way to fix this? Yup.

Give the Bazaar its own forum category, and have WTS / WTB / WTA subforums etc inside of it

It would take a GM / CCPr all of an hour to create, and it would fix this issue permanently.

Maybe I am overly pessimistic but I am not sure that OP would really fix the problem. People cba to post in the correct location anywhere else, why would they when selling a character? Someone then has to go clean up all the accidentally-on-purpose cross lists.

+1 to general idea though.

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

I give it a +1. I like the organization of the idea.

Stipulations for posting in the incorrect subform could be made in the form of temp locks for the thread / disallowing the sale for a certain amount of time

also, your signature, I approve. Rawr.

It's not like the ISDs are doing anything useful you know :P

Sounds like a good idea to me.

A few forum tweaks to avoid a clutter of different topics should be a basic part of any forum. Apparently nobody is handling this right now, not a great suprise to me.

A bit more order would be appreciated.

+1. Good idea and structured. Only downside will be the amount of work involved with moderating the various sub-forums.

there won't be any more posts getting made than there already is, just divided into different forums. in theory there should be less moderation providing people can generally use the right forum.

Or...even introduce a mandatory drop down list selection when in that forum section:

- Enter CharBaz
- Click "Post"
- Drop-down list selection available in "Message Window"
- Enter text in free-form text box
- Post.

You could force people to select the write sub-forum thus enforcing order.

Just an idea...

It's a good idea, but you know what would solve the issue permanently? Twisted

A full web interface called "Character marketplace" outside of the forum and as a part of EVE Gate. When you want to buy sell or auction a character, you:
- pick what you want to do... example:
[ ] WTB
[ ] WTS
[ x ] WTA
- if you are selling/auctioning, tick the checkbox that you understand that information relevant to the sale about your character is going to be public and visible by other players;
- set a starting price, reserve (can be hidden), buyout (if applicable), duration of the auction, etc. ... all editable if you want to change any of it (as it sometimes happen in threads right now);
- a bidder uses the interface (instead of posting to the forum) to place a bid.

A player that is browsing the "Character Marketplace" would have filtering and sorting options for relevant info: starting price, current top bid, buyout, duration, skill filtering, ... all in one place. There could be a button/tab/whatever a designer of the system thinks is OK, to display skills, implants, sec status, location,... basically the info that you are required to post in a sale thread anyway.

Now THAT would be a permanent solution Big smile

I even know how to make that damn thing in PHP/MySQL Cool

+1

It would also be great if you could sort the characters by various attributes, like SP, training focus, flyable ships etc.
