When you're doing a sig combat mission, you're often bothered by pesky, looting interlopers.
You worked hard to go through the mission and then suddenly they appear and steal the main loot.
I suggest the following change: in the first pocket you should be able to grab a key for the gate to the next pockets so that only you or your fleet will be able to continue. Or... if other players arrive at the scene you're allowed to attack them.

Comments are welcome.

Yeah I agree, no common courtesy whatsoever. It's all due to the greedy 'Mine, mine, mine" instant gratification mentality that's infecting this game nowadays. Never was like that back when I started playing this game, of course back then exploration was a specialized career and not many players wanted to spend the time to train the skills or spend the time to do it.

As for grabbing the key first, that has been the main object in the DED complexes for a long time. Unfortunately the unrated named combat sites usually don't need a key to progress further, unless someone get's chased out of the 2nd pocket and Down Time occurs, then a specific type of Pirate Tag is needed as a key.

Basically the mantra now for the past couple of years is to blitz the sites. Just get in, get it and get out asap. Check Evelopedia to see which triggers need to be popped to go through the site as quickly as possible.

Real question: Does WOW allow that? If so, it is less bad than I had been led to believe.

I, for one, would love that mechanic. Anyone but the 'owner' entering a mission area should be shootable w/o CONCORD intervention. I would prefer it was a suspect timer, but we all know that both carebears and gankers would squeal like raped-piggies. I will settle for a limited engagement being opened between 'owner' and 'interloper'.

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

Tell me why? Why should concord make it illegal to be in the same approximate area of space as somebody else?

You have a d-scanner, you can have scouts (alts or corpmates), you have a choice of what ship you take into a plex. This game is built on a spirit of competition and opportunism. Embrace it or leave.

If you can't cope with the competition, you need to find yourself another profession.

Also, CCP already has a solution to this:
If someone steals stuff from you, he becomes a suspect or criminal and you can shoot him.

The right to be alone in an MMO is a cornerstone of MMO design.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Open ended game play has always been the way of Eve and yes, I'm one of those pesky interlopers. It happens to me and I do it to other people so it's hardly one sided.

The thing is, once you understand this it adds a whole new dimension to game play. You're trying to get the site done before someone else finds it, so you're spamming d-scan looking for probes, and if and when they appear the adrenaline kicks in and you know you have to get to the end before they get there. The sudden competitive aspect can be really exciting.

If they enter the site you're running then it's a whole new ball game as it's a cat and mouse game of speed, trying to get through gate(s) before they do. Essentially it's all about speed. I've evemailed people that I've come across in really slow ships to try and advise them how to run them better (imo of course). I always o7 in local whether i scoop the loot or get beaten to it because to me it's always about the race.

If I can pass on some advice:

Always, always get the commander as soon as it appears. Don't pee around trying shoot anything else otherwise I'll come in, shoot it and loot it.

Fly something fast - 1000m/s or faster. Don't worry too much about your cap. Your job is to get in, shoot the commander and get out. As long as your tank can hold out long enough then you're fine.

Be aligned and moving over the gate as the last rat dies so you warp first. It's here I often fail so trust me on this one, a few seconds can make all the difference.

Stop worrying. You win some and you lose some. As long as you're not losing all the time it's not a problem.

I've had single similar episode many years ago, it poisoned my whole missioning experience afterwards.

I'm afraid other (3) spaceship games (including 2 sandbox MMOs) will be released sooner than CCP will re-create missions.

Meanwhile you can change mission hub + try to be close to the target before shooting it - to grab loot faster.

I get the distinct impression that you did not engage any higher processes prior to posting, or are unclear on the consequences of engagement timers.

If I am playing whack-a-mole and you wanna race me to whack the "Golden Mole"- Thats cool. Nothing I said would prevent this.
However, there is nothing more EVE like than me beating the crap out of you with the hammer prior to the 'Golden Mole' appearing. Competition and opportunism at its finest baby girl.... embrace it or sit back down.

You won't get a "gb2WoW" from me but.
As annoying as ninjas are to have around, they keep things exciting for me.
Which in the end is much more valuable to me, and EvE so far has the best "world" pvp I have experienced.
Non of "that which has no life" running around in a gold silver, and neon purple power-rangeresque suit.
One sided and hopelessly beating the snot out of scrawny characters in pajamas, with cheap Cinderella and spiderman prints...
Yes WoW I look at you...
Call me crazy but ninjass and pirates make me want to come to EvE, even in high sec you know you have to watch your zjit.

The one thing I do hate about EvE is the stupid (free market religious zealotry) 30cents philosophical one-liners this community is famous for producing.
With strong emphasis towards typing manly things like "EvE is for the strong" into a keyboard from ones parents basement. (Or sneaking it at work awkwardly on a hand-held device).

You should probably engage some higher processes before reading threads because nothing in your reply is relevant to what I said. If anything, I agree with you. Still, full marks for impotent aggression, though.
