Hi Guys..

No real reason for this post other then to rage at being a Australian EvE player vs the rest of the world..

So I consider myself to be a good ceptor pilot and do well at catching targets during the AU TZ agaisnt other AU players..

But over the weekend when TZ's overlap you canstantly get targets getting away from you due to latency diffrences

It came to a head for me over the weekend.. so a primarly Australian gang was chasing down a gang made up of mainly Europeans..

We had them caught on side of a gate and awaited them to jump through.. they jump, all the ceptors go for points.. and all 20 members of the gang warp away before a single distruptor goes off.. even tho all 5 ceptors had multiple locks including hotlocks >_>

its was basically a case for us as soon as they popped up on our overview they were already in warp.. very frustrating when you miss out on PvP due to where you live.

end rant

ive seen people use a mwd for aligning to where they are warping, then hit warp

altho if your a good inty pilot if you fail to get a lock you go to the next gate and try again Shocked

We had chased them through 8 gates with simular results.. so by that point we just gave up watching all 20 targets just decloak and warp

The server works on 1 second ticks.

I assure you, as someone who lives in a shithole middle of nowhere town, six hours inland from the Australian cost...
You will never have a 1 second ping to the EVE servers.

Any fault here is due to pilot incompetence.

Shucks. Thought this was another Aussie whine thread about downtime. Hadn't seen one in a while, thought this was it. Sigh. Ugh

I'm from Australia. My last connection before this one was an ADSL one in South Brisbane. It was terrible. EVE ran fine though, and I never had a problem. There was the occasional latency issue, but that was all. I have cable now, much faster. Same ping though, which means it makes no difference for gaming, particularly EVE.

You know what you need? You need to do a speedtest, you need to see the numbers so you understand that it's not the download speed that counts here, it's the ping, and as long as your ping is faster (smaller) than 300ms in Australia, you haven't got a problem with latency.

Do you have any idea how much harder it is to tackle something when you're upside down?

I lived in australia for 5 years and can confirm that being an australian is a reason if not an excuse.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

I always thought the rest of the world was upside down and that is why so many of them are behind Australia.

If anything, it's an advantage. All that "Fosters" brand water you drink should be good for clearing the head. The hydration will enhance your cognitive functions.
