They've been a very popular feature, I don't see why they would remove one of the aspects of the game that lots of people like.

Somewhere in the devblogs, forum posts, and videos etc of the past few months is mention (possibly by Dropbear) that the Incursion mechanics might be used for other pirate groups. Incursions won't be going away, but they might change.

Trolls never fall for a troll they just keep trolling together. Which can ruin a forum, because the trolls will keep talking to themselves and drag any non trolls into their game.
