still wonder why everyone thinks you are the bad guys since you have made a number of awesome tools available to all eve players - and thanks for that btw!!

They play for fun and not for roleplaying (this is what they say on the SC forum) yet in EvE they roleplay the bad guys.

In truth, they are not necessarily bad, just "differently good" and have their own mindset, culture and so on.

I don't exactly understand them well enough, nor understand why they try appearing the "bad guys", I suppose that creates a group identity and helps at promoting common intents.

The end result (still reporting what they say on SC, might be different in EvE) is that they are "just" trying to win the game, like others did in more "classic" ways before them.

While doing their stuff (winning the game) they have a lively community that includes good developers, some of them release their software for everyone, others follow Google's strategy of making public what it's now a legacy for them and still keep the technology advantage intact.

Maybe ill even try to join you guys now that i know you are just a pain in the ass in the game and not outside of it! (and as such use the rest of goonmetrics capabilities!!)

I'll give you a 500M worth tip: don't ask to join them in EvE but go to the somethingawful.com forum, because that's the one way (bar very special exceptions) to join them.

well i always had the idea that everyone is eve IS the bad guy so it seems that its just more or less they are the most successfull bad guys P

This is not true.

Being good in EvE is possible, it's just way harder. It comes with upsides as well, because many players seem to appreciate those white fleas.

gonna look some info on how one would join goon-swarm in a legit way since i keep hearing that people get scammed while trying to join them.

and ooh boy has this gone off -topic xD

Just make sure you have enough to cover the joining fee. As I said, they are decent chaps and will even run a jump freighter down to null to save you the trouble of moving your stuff out there yourself.

joining fee? this is exactly what iv heard about people paying and then no accept (scams). I need to research if this is actually a thing because a lot of people have been scammed this way Lol

How would one know they are not being tricked? I mean if there is a thing goons have a reputation for is for scamming poor newbies like me Twisted

Plus i think you Bio says egnough RAW Blink

Hiya thought i would jump in on this one.
First i am in an organisation that is generally hostile to goons as opposed to many of the CFC peeps that posted in your thread.

1. Are goons the bad guys?

Nope. They have added a ton of content to the game. Burn Jita, ice interdictions, moon mining cartels, superb use of spies + propaganda (see BoB sov drop, fountain war etc). The people i have met from CFC seem no better or worse than any other group of people (apart from some foul mouthed miners ofc).

2. If they ask for a security deposit or offer to move your ships to actually join goons it is a scam. I think you need to join via the something awful forums to actually join but i am not sure.

3. Their null sec system rental and the jump freighter service is vital to their income and so scamming around that is strictly forbidden.

4. Loads of people scam, spy and steal in eve. Some of them happen to be goons.

Loads of people and corps live in null.
Some own sov and fight epic wars with huge fleets and spend the rest of the time making billions ratting/plexing.
Some live in NPC null and run guerrilla warfare and spend the rest of the time making billions ratting/plexing.

Anyway have fun in EVE. It looks like you have the research everything down pat.
The tricky bit is finding people you can trust and having fun playing with them.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

Funny thing here is that way back in the day - pre-BoB's invasion of syndicate and "there are no goons" and all that - we really did try to be the good guys. Wanted to be upstanding members of ~the community~ and so forth.

Then BoB goes and makes us out to be the bad guys as a means of otherizing us and having an excuse for their forces of ~leet pvp~ to be seen abusing newbies, so we went "**** it" and embraced it.

I've heard this before but I have to say it sounds rather like internal propaganda. Considering the personality of your first CEO and the fact that Goons in other games go there to grief it seems a little ... well ... implausible that in this particular case you turned up with a basket of warm baked goods to share out and an ardent desire to just fit in.

There are two types of EVE player:

those who believe there are two types of EVE player and those who do not.

Ahh, I remember that. I was in RAWR back when when you magnificent bastards popped the drain plug on BoB. The ensuing chaos was fantastic. It was the glory days of the blackbird as well. We had WAAAAAY too much fun. I had forgotten it was Goons what did it though.

"Turned up with a basket of warm baked goods", not really, but things like scamming and whatnot were absolutely forbidden way back then, so draw what conclusion from that you will.

That's very interesting. Thanks, I wasn't aware of that.

This advise is well-intentioned but woefully incomplete.

Goonwaffe recruits SA goons who want to play EVE, not EVE players who pretend to be SA goons.

If there is evidence that you were aware of EVE (or worse: actually playing it) before fulfilling your SA quota and applying to Goonwaffe then there is a good chance that your app will not only be denied but that you will be blacklisted as well.

It's pretty common for enthusiastic players in the position of OP to follow advise like yours, pay $10 for an SA account and then post in the EVE thread about how they can't wait to join Goonwaffe once the three months are up ... and all anyone can tell them is that they have just ruined any chance of ever joining Goonwaffe using this SA account.

If you want to do the SA thing then nothing on your SA account and the EVE account you apply to Goonwaffe with should link to your previous identity as an EVE player. It's a major effort and not something you can go about naively.

WoW a person doesnt login for 1 day and soooo many good responses Shocked

Although to comment all of you at this point is impossible (im in a hurry here!!) but the major points are:

i still dont get it what one must do to join them, and at this point it seems that i would either be scammed, have to pay money, have to pay money and not join, or something that i still havent figured out Question

either way ill research more when i get here.

on a more topic related note:

goon-metrics is still down :(

I have never attempted being a Goon expert so what I have written is from the point of view of someone who sees certain things happening in this specific game and specific forum and just report them.

If there's more to that, I can't say as I am totally not interested into joining that community.

I don't get too much of their mindset (not saying they do it wrong, it's just not my thing) and I refuse to pay to post on a forum.
