Why was my reference to him buying the character removed? This is very relevant information in MD; it speaks to the mindset of the player, specifically the fluiditiy of his identity (a more fluid identity meaning a higher risk of a default, whereas a strong sense identity would signify higher chance of honouring agreements). Furthermore the fact that the person requesting the loan just spent 10 times that amount on something else is very relevant. What are the odds that someone spending 5B really can't come up with 500M himself? If he could come up with 500M himself but prefers a loan, why is this? The answer affects the risk of default on the loan. And surely the suggestion that he should spend his money more wisely isn't a personal attack of any kind? It's honest (and free!) advice!

In reference to the OP, I am restarting my old initiative. Anyone interested in investing can feel free to give me their money. I will take it, spend it on T2 ships to run missions in low sec, and post the results in the thread. When I lose the ship because I am the worst PVPer in EVE (seriously, look at my killboard), I will promptly default on the loan. This way you can enjoy all of the upsides and excitement of investing while still being told immediately that you have lost your money instead of needing to wait a few months.

Discussing moderation is not permitted and abusing ISD and CCP staff is also against the rules.

This is a common misconception. Your 500m is likely to remain untouched on a Market Discussions forum alt as a bounty. However, Gihl Steghern's 500m will do one of three things:

1) Make Gihl Steghern more money
2) Make Pragda more money
3) Make both of them more money

Your 500m will make no one more money and has effectively zero value as a bounty on a forum alt.

Either ways I would have thrown Pragda the 500m if I knew it'd elicit such a response from you.

I would just like to clarify that while no rules were broken (scamming or making a series terrible posts isn't against the rules), this is not an endorsement of the OP by CCP. People have made that mistake before.

But isk does not exist just to make more isk. It is not like the only value you can get out of isk is the creation of more isk; there's entertainment value, and community value. (That's assuming isk has value to me - and I'm not sure it does.)

While we may be gently butting heads about the finer points of this particular transaction, I completely agree with your point here. I sit at my computer sometimes wondering what to do with my ISK next. I'm personally receiving decent entertainment value for my ISK and the final outcome of the transaction should have some community value no matter how it turns out.
