I love the model!
I love the skin!
and about the transformation... its better than nothing!

Good job CCP!

P.S

Please keep updating Caldari ship models! you updated the minmatar stabber and the ammarian cruiser but didnt do anything with caldari or gallente. Dont forget about us! Keep up the good work tho ;)

I think they will be updating more ships in the future, some caldari and gallente really really need a new look...

The marauder textures seem to be finished now on test server.

All of them look great I have to say.
I really like the finished Paladin paint job, very nice.
Detail on the Golem and Vargur is impressive.

Great job CCP Bunnyvirus and the Art Department!

The Vargur looks decent as always, unfortunately still not as good as the Tempest FI which is beautiful.
The Kronos looks great.
The Golem looks... Caldari, if you guys like it then so be it.

The Paladin...

I have to say I definitely like the model on TQ infinitely more, it is beefier and feels massive, it is one of my favourite hulls in the game.
Both the NApoc and the Apoc look stunning, the Paladin only needed a new paint job because the Brown/Gold thing just doesn't work for any of the ships.

Now on SiSi the whole section i felt was a defining feature in the low/middle of the ship was removed, all the 'armour plating' was tightened up to the point it now has virtually no defining features at all.

The SiSi Paladin looks like one of those sheet metal toys you had back in the days; Both the paint job and the model are now quite unappealing; I'm sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings but that is how I feel about it, it looks simplistic and cheap, I've tried to see it from another perspective as a sleek bullet train but it just looks like a lifeless tin can.

How I see the models:
Paladin SiSi

Paladin TQ

Please revert to the TQ model or at least give the SiSi model some stunning new defining features and a new paint job.

The Vargur requires launcher hardpoints, following tempest tradition.

I can't use Bastion, but I noticed the Kronos and Paladin have glowing details on their bits. Does the Golem also have details on the glowing internal bits?

EDIT: This post sounds so wrong...

Yes it does. You can actually see the glowing parts without bastion on both ships. Just zoom in and take a good look from upper or lower angle, the doors on the golem don't close off the front completely.

That isn't what I meant.

If you look at the Paladin, it has what looks like glowing circuitry, instead of just a plastic wrap effect. If you look at this video, you'll notice that circuitry stuff was not always there. The Kronos has glowing greeble and pillars and such as well.

The last time I looked at the Golem in bastion, it was just untextured grey rods that had some glowing 'plastic wrap' over them, just like the early Paladin.

I wanted to know if there had been any textures added to the Golem's internals besides that plastic wrap overlay.

Golem was updated with a lightning texture for the bars that are attached to the doors. Also, under the open doors, on the hull side, is a line of lights that pulse from back to front. No circuitry like the paladin has though.

Well the only one(s) that make any sense are the Golem and Vargur from a lore stand point. The golem opens shield extenders/amplifies and the Vargur covers it fragile solar arrays with increased armour.

How ever the Kronos animation more so belongs on a shield ship...it doesn't gain any armour in fact I would say it looses defence (from an appearance standpoint) by popping open the 2X hood sections. Same thing goes for the Paladin it exposes more of the ships "innards" rather then protecting them. I am trying to rap my head around this from a lore based stand point but I am having trouble doing so with the way the current animations are.

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to "justify" the Paladin and Kronos bastion animations from a lore standpoint.

The way I see it, they're like additional cooling systems. Bastion overclocks the entire ship and **** opens up to vent the heat.

Bastion Module wrote:
An electronic interface designed to augment and enhance a marauder's siege abilities. Through a series of electromagnetic polarity field shifts, the bastion module diverts energy from the ship's propulsion and warp systems to lend additional power to its defensive capabilities.

Since those "glowy bits" are electrical-looking in nature, it's not unreasonable to assume that these are the structures responsible for manipulating the electromagnetic fields.

Side note: I have to question whether the text should read "electromagnetic field polarity shifts" instead of what it currently does.

Bastion Module also wrote:
This results in a greatly increased rate of defensive self-sustenance and a boost to the ship's overall damage resistances. It also extends the reach of all the vessel's weapon systems, allowing it to engage targets at farther ranges. Due to the ionic field created by the bastion module, all remote effects - from friend or foe both - will not affect the ship while in bastion mode.

It's also not unreasonable to assume that since the "glowy bits" are also, well, glowing, that they are responsible for emitting the ionic field that results in this isolation effect. As an "ionic field" is comprised of ions and ions have to do with magnetism and electricity, these structures might even be serving both purposes - they are deployed and activated to actuate the required polarity shifts, the process of which also results in creating the ionic field around the ship.

With regards to the Kronos, consider it more along the lines of the front armor being raised to deflect enemy attacks. NPCs always fight each other from the front, so it makes sense that an NPC-designed ship would work that way. Besides, NPCs can't possibly design ships around capsuleer sensibilities; our realm is so completely removed from theirs that they aren't even capable of comprehending it until/unless they ascend (or descend, perhaps) to our level.

I kind of agree, up to a point.

By giving the Paladin more armor on the model, they took away a lot of the intricate details of the TQ model.

I think there should have been more of a compromise... More armor on the visual model doesn't make a lot of sense anyway as there's a lot of exposed bits on the ship left. Instead of making it closed up front you could have made a version of the TQ model which, in bastion mode, closed all the 'in between' spaces between the plates...

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all...
