Yes they payout prizes

Yes they seem to be keeping 16 billion that was sent to them for an auction that did not happen and failed to return it afterwards.

They advertise in the community, just like casinos, alcohol companies and cigarette companies(use to in the case of my country).

They offer a gambling service where you can convert your real cash into their tokens via plex with no ability of any pay back in return except the ability to pay your game time via your winnings.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

I'm still surprised that CCP didn't object to how the raffle was handled with the EVE Vegas prizes that were eventually donated after the Gold Magnate et al were nixed.

Using a community site to distribute donated prizes is one thing; 'everyone gets only one ticket each to these giveaways, regardless of the amount they spend (or don't spend)', to quote Andrev Nox on their promo and bonk runner up giveaways.
But the donated items were not raffled in this fashion. It was a free for all, enter as often as you like, as long as we get paid for every ticket, sorry if you are poor but this is an isk sink not a fair giveaway to the playerbase, type affair.

Letting a community site profit by raffling prizes to the highest bidder (prizes like the trip to Iceland); this sticking point has always bothered me in the context of neutrality towards player owned corporations.

When the Somer guys say they 'spoke to CCP', does this mean they don't have to petition and wait like the rest of us poor slobs and that they have a direct line to decision makers? If so, that seems one of the biggest WTF things in this whole debacle.

At this point shut up and cash in. This is one of the only ways to legitimize online gambling from the looks of it by doing a dog and pony show with isk. After the rules change it'll only be for a cut of the PLEX sales but hey that seems like a nice little chunk of change.

seems like SOMER & chums have 'won' EVE, and made CCP look . . . . well you know . . . . foolish to say a word.

Now do we abhor this, or do the greedy thing and give them some more money via GTC in the last few days to make a tidy personal profit? ( GTC sell for a bil or so, extra credit for somer blinks, get ships, cash out - win! )

Also brings the question in of Buying GTC from diffrent areas. $35 gets a 60 day gtc, where as £17 gets 1 plex, last conversion rate brung in £21ish for $35, so could this be the start of something bigger again? We all go via the GTC route rather than right thru CCP ( depending on where you live ) ?
