Loosing levels on a skill

Hello.

I don’t log on much these days. Usually just to switch skill training but last night I noticed that my Scrapmetal Processing was down to level one when I had it trained up to level five years & years ago.

Has anyone else heard of or experienced this problem of loosing levels on a skill?

I've not been podded recently and never been podded with an out of date clone.

Thanks in advance,

Either you are mistaken or it is a bug, skill levels won't just vanish. You won't lose a level 2 skill from podding unless you have managed to get every other skill reduced to level 1 first.

Thanks for the reply Mashie, It must be a bug because I not mistaken. I trained the skill to level five a long time ago and used to do the loot processing for a corp i was in.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something simialr.

You can do perfect reprocessing (in the highest efficiency stations) with Scrapmetal Processing 1, and in fact without Scrapmetal Processing at all if you have the implant for it. Just mentioning it in case that's what you're basing your memory of Scrapmetal Processing 5 on.

Why would you think your memory from "years and years ago" would be better than the skill database? Roll

You're probably thinking of refining V, scrap metal processing isn't a very useful skill to raise more than a level or two.

How far back does the skil training history go? That gives the date & time for each skill level you train...

Granted, sorting through that on the current UI would be rather .... painful

Crap.... you may have a point. I remember clearly saving loot for almost a year until I could process it without waste ( I was living in High Sec). I think I finally processed it back in late 2008.

But now you've made me doubt that I got it to Lv 5 if I didn't have to... that's what happens when you login infrequently for a couple of years.

Thank you very much for the post Zor'katar

*chuckles and slaps the side of his head*

You could be right.... I've been here since 2007 and CCPs record is pretty good with this kind of thing. They do make **** ups but its pretty rare.

Yours and Zor'katar's posts are making me re-think my original concerns. Thanks.

Thank you. I'll check the skill history.. but I'm pretty sure back in 2008/2009 it didn't exist.

You don't lose a level when podded with an insufficient clone. You lose 5% of the difference between what the clone can hold, and what you currently have trained, up to a limit of 50% of the skill points in a single skill. The skill with the most points is selected, or a random skill if all skills have the same amount of points.

It is possible to have a level 2 skill with less points than a level 1 skill, so the level 1 skill will be reduced first. Example: if a skill is level 1 but rank 6, it has more skill points than a level 2 skill that is rank 1. In this case the level 1 skill is reduced before the level 2 skill.

However, I don't think it is possible to train a rank 6 or higher skill without training some other skill to 5.

I have noticed this glitch three times but when it happened other skills increased in response.

That just sounds like you got podded without upgrading your clone.
