I will admit this one, I wasn't expecting that question.

Technically, I could claim that as of now, I have no competition simply based on my interest rate.
But that would be the easy answer. What I will say is that for the time being, I have not looked at the competition extensively simply because I want to rebuild a name (probably should have used Kyra for that, but oh well) and offering a "free" service is, although both uncommon and suspicious, is the best way to get noticed.

Do something different and people will talk about you, good or bad, but they will talk.

This is odd, because I am getting loans requests even in these days (and without self thread bumping) and I am not even promising "zero interest rates".

Maybe you missed some tiny details in your plan?

I will tell you one hint: almost all the loans get asked directly in game, via EvE-mail or direct chat.

You misinterpreted what I said.

I never claimed that I had no competition in the loan business. What I said was that as of now, no one was offering 0% and stated the reason why this was so.. I guess I didn't phrase it properly.

As for MD not being the Sell orders, I know. You guys seem more like a close knit bunch and I can see that taking my place will be an exhausting process.

Either way, I have been more than honest in answering every question asked to me, linked thread of past involvement on the eve-O forums, posted with the character responsible for that involvement and am still here right now debating with all of you.

I have ISK available for loans and am open for discussion :)

Now, please re-read my reply and find out why it was relevant and why it explains both your difficulty here and why offering 0% is less enticing than you'd hope.

The reply of mine to you, is important for you, not for me.

Most of the posters on this forum aren't looking to loan money. Every post about loans/bonds gets hailed down.

Here, the best way to get noticed is to make decent and intelligent posts. Build up a solid posting history, make sure people recognise your name. If you're interested in starting a business, being active on MD will allow you to get to know how things work, find out what your future competition does and why. You'll be better prepared and will have an easier time launching your business.

Quoting this out of order because it touches on what I said above. This is exactly the type of comment which you shouldn't make in your posts.

You mean you'll have to make an effort to get people to trust you with their money and/or stuff. That's entirely correct.

That's not true. It's just that the ones which get hailed down are more active and stay at the top longer. Did you notice that thread a couple of days ago where 220B (that's two-hundred-and-twenty-billion) was raised in half an hour?

But he IS right , i have not seen anyone offer a 0% interest and as such PURELY on the interest rate he has no competition. He is clearly talking about the rate ALONE Blink .

Well, technically he has no competition because his business isn't actually operating yet.

What Nanatoa said. Would have loved yo get my hands on part of that to get involved in MD, but it filled up too quick.

In my opinion offering 0% collaterallized is nothing new as already they have very low interest rates from folks who have been giving them out for a while (read "trustworthy"). Now offering partially collateralized loans at a decent interest rate would be interesting. You could also try catering to the nullsec guys with collateral in hard to reach places (pun unintended).

On another note noise:signal ratio when it comes to "dubious" loan requests is pretty high and they also attract a lot of attention.

I will hold on to the collateral for a specified amount of time in the agreement between myself and the interested party, and will return the item to the owner at NO INTEREST RATE for the time being, simply to make a name for myself again.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest at 0% interest. Maybe you should offer -1%? You could pay the borrower 1% per week for the privilege of lending the ISK, so you can "make a name" for yourself again.

I'm considering getting a 0% interest loan from you as I have quite a few unresearched BPOs that are going unused at the moment, how much ISK do you have available?

The other thing to remember about MD is that it is, in the end, a bit of an RP forum.

We're here to simulate the market in EVE as close to reality as possible. As such, people who come in attempting to make no profit on a loan are effectively not playing along. That makes us generally suspicious. You have to at least pretend like you are attempting to treat it as a business.

Additionally, just getting noticed is not a terribly useful thing. Posting 0% interest offerings will get you noticed, but won't give you any help. I would like to think that I am at least slightly known in here, but if I were to suddenly ask for a few billion based purely on my 'rep' in the group, I would be laughed at. What exposure I have here is mainly as a gadfly and poker-of-holes-in-arguments. In fact, I would generally guess that I am the poorest 'regular' poster on this forum. As such, I may be noticed here, but that an a dollar will get me a snickers bar from the vending machine.

I understand the principle of emulating the market as close as possible. Much like in RL, every nowvand then a new "dog" comes along with a bonified offer just to get in on the market scene. This usually lasts a little while, long enough to get the ball rolling then things go back to normal, or die off in flames, which I will do my best to avoid.

You also have to remember that this a market without regulation besides what we provide ourselves. As a result, we have to be extremely suspicious as any scams or frauds are completely consequence-free. This leads to a very strict adherence to 'if it looks to be too good to be true, it is.'

So, four days after my I first raised this question, can you name 3 of the "old dogs" who are your competitors?
