EVE ONLINE RESET - NEW SHARD

This is an idea that's probably been floated before:

Start a new instance of the Eve Online universe, reinstate the game as it was much closer to release.

All characters on this instance of the universe start fresh.

Things got too complicated. 500 vs 500 fleet fights and titans and capital ships, POS (This is coming from a guy who owned a titan when there were maybe 40 of them ever built).

It was a natural evolution for the game, adding content etc over the years. It was inevitable but I think the game was better in it more raw form closer to release.

Personally I just think a reset would be a LOT of fun and bring back a lot of people who've stopped playing (like myself).

Thoughts? Flame? All is welcome.

Just to clarify i dont mean to wipe the main server. Anyone who wouldn't be interested in a reset wouldn't have to take any part in it.

I miss when there were like 5 types of ships: frigs, cruisers, haulers, battleships and shuttles

Obviously most people who have been playing for years and years (such as myself before I stopped) would have conniption if their stuff was wiped.

Or just create special terrain (with a valuable resource/advantage) that precludes large fleets and/or caps, e.g. something akin to fighting in a Nebula as per Star Trek II: Wrath of Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

The fact that the entire game runs on 1 shard is one of the things that make it Unique. Lets please not ruin that..

Somehow I don't think CCP would be too excited about taking their main product back about 10 years.

Fun is subjective.

Eve is the largest single shard game, the best single shard game, and id you want to play on a rolled back single shard Eve Server I heard the Chinese server is just that.

As another guy here posted, fun or "better" is subjective, obviously.

I don't think it was "better". Obviously CCP made a ton of cool new additions.

But it was different.

The Eve universe of 2007 and 2008 seemed a much wilder place. A place where there were tons of unexplored areas. "New frontiers".

Maybe what Eve needs is to have the amount of space doubled, or tripled. Spread people out a bit more. I dunno...

My idea doesn't seem to be very popular hahaha. I get that. I just figured there would be people out there that would find a nostalgic reset fun.
