I just reactivated my account from a good 3 years or so off and im completely lost lol.

I was using a maelstrom and tempest as a snipe ship which worked out great back in the day but im not sure what has changed and i dont feel like scouring the interwebz for hours trying to find patch notes and deciphering them.

Could you super experienced and awesome community members give me some great feedback? I want to try and get back into the game by doing missions etc., but i think those have changed as well since i've been gone. Anyways would love some great feedback and i hope the link works.

O I still love the projectile weapons but i have had a secret love for the amarr energy weapons so im not against going a different path with my character.

Thanks.

Just so you know, the character sheet tells us nothing about your skills. Try a third party website like eveboard, and then we can see. Also, make sure you actually want potentially everyone knowing your skills, and make sure that when you choose to PvP you at least put a password on the page so that potential foes can't instantly tell what you are capable of.

I couldnt see your skills in the link you posted but I read projectiles and missioning in which case you'd want a Maelstrom or a Tempest, and then upgrade to a Machariel or a Vargur. All should be shield tanked and you should train shield tanking and other related skills like gunnery, navigation, ship skills, capacitor and fitting skills.

Im sorry logged off to sleep for work today. Heres the eveboard skill sheet thanks for the tips and i figured thats what i should fly. If i stick in the maelstrom or tempest should i work on my drone skills as well since i will probably be long range artillery boat?

Your skills are good, but firstly here's some skills you should train as soon as possible:

Drone Interfacing III/IV - I see you have T2 drones but this skills is where the bulk of drone damage comes from, it gives 20% damage per level.
Combat Drone Operation III/IV - Similarly, this skill won't take a long time and will give you a considerably boost to your drone damage.
Drone Durability III - This takes a really short time and will help alot because now NPCs in missions will aggro your drones and if you end up in a situation where you're scrammed by a frig and your drones have been taken out you'll pretty much be screwed.
Minmatar Drone Specialization III - It's a short train and if you're missioning against angels you'll be using minmatar drone and this skill helps out.
Large Autocannon Specialization III - You'll end up using autocannons more than artillery in missions especially if you're missioning against Angels.
Projectile Rigging IV - This is required for T2 gun rigs which are cheap and effective, it also reduces the amount of penalty the rigs give so it doubles as a fitting skill

That's it for important mission related skills but you should also strongly consider other skills like Capacitor Management V, other Rigging Skills, Armor Compensation (if you're planning on flying Amarr) etc but other than that your skills are decent.

In terms of which ship to use, personally I would go for a Maelstrom because it is generally better for missions than a Tempest because the tanking bonus helps out alot. I wouldn't go for Amarr boats for missioning because your skills are still quite far from that and Amarr suffer the issue of having fixed damage types which really cuts into missioning efficiency unless you're in Amarr space.

Now here's a Maelstrom fit that should be good for missions until you get enough money to upgrade to something better:

[Maelstrom, L4]

Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II

Dread Guristas X-Large Shield Booster
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Explosive Deflection Field II
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script

800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L
800mm Repeating Artillery II, Fusion L

Large Core Defense Capacitor Safeguard I
Large Core Defense Capacitor Safeguard I
Large Projectile Burst Aerator II

Warrior II x5
Valkyrie II x5

This is a good base fit, the Dread Guristas booster is cheap (40mil) and costs alot less CPU than a T2 one. The tank on this is actually much more than you need but because you're just getting back into missioning it's good to have a little extra tank in case you mess up. Once you get used to L4s you should drop 1 hardener for another tracking computer. With 2 TCs you have an optimal + falloff of 4+46km which is ample for many of the more short ranged missions like missions against Angels, Damsel in Distress, Silence the Informant etc. However some missions are more long ranged in which case you should swap out the 800s for 1200s, the artillery should fit without a problem and give you good flexibility. Which missions need artillery/autos is something you'll eventually get used to, look it up on Eve-Survival first.

Maelstrom and then onward to Machariel or vargur.
But you still have plenty time skilling drones to make that decision as you wait for the marauder changes to be implemented.
You are missing Shield compensation btw rather huge first point of business, then get your social skills to 4 asap emphasizing: Social, Connections, and most importantly Security connections. (last in the list worth going for lvl5).
Other then that perfect skill set for a quick climb to mach and vargur.

Next expansion should see marauders changed which is 20 days or so I think.
Wait to buy one a month or two since prices will be horribly inflated.
Character prices are bound to plex, optimal SP per month is 2 mill SP or 1944444 to be precise.
Plex right now is at 610 mill, that is what prices hover around and premium is only paid for focussed characters.
Meaning with all their SP based on a very clear goal, mission runner, sub capital pvp, capital ships, freighters.
It fluctuates around that price and all depends on what people are looking for, and knowing what is in demand.
So for every mill in SP you can count on 300 mill in ISK plus/minus if you character has no waste SP/ is focussed.
Hope that clarifies.

Check out the character bazaar to get an idea, prices fluctuate really strongly, pure pvp character tend not to be mains.
And therefor are the higher commodity very high SP toons add some serious value.

Drone Durability III - This takes a really short time and will help alot because now NPCs in missions will aggro your drones and if you end up in a situation where you're scrammed by a frig and your drones have been taken out you'll pretty much be screwed. Agreed
Minmatar Drone Specialization III - It's a short train and if you're missioning against angels you'll be using minmatar drone and this skill helps out. A 2% skill yes its quick to train but you can just as easy ditch it,get the other races drone spec skills though
Large Autocannon Specialization III - You'll end up using autocannons more than artillery in missions especially if you're missioning against Angels. Agreed
Projectile Rigging IV - This is required for T2 gun rigs which are cheap and effective, it also reduces the amount of penalty the rigs give so it doubles as a fitting skill If you want to waste isks on t2 rigs its necessary

What you should add is DRONE NAVIGATION and train it to IV to give your drones some speed bonus!

Also get gallente, caldari and amarr drone specs and train them to II

For running Angel Missions Maelstrom or Tempest Fleet with Autos is the way to go. Or the Mach if you can afford it.
