So I started to gain interest in a hauling alt. Ive done some research and I cannot seem to find a up to date place on where to find fits for a hauling ships.I searched for tips and though I have a general idea on how hauling works thanks to eveuni I just need to know the ships that are worthwhile. I come across threads saying the Itty V is nerfed get the specialized ships to start out with, but I cannot find any fits to get the general idea of how to fit my own ship. I hear fit cargo extenders in your lows and other saying to not do that or think about fitting those cargo extenders.
I also do not know what to aim for as far as advanced hauling ships go. Do i go for an Orca or a blockade runner?

All I know is that I want a hauler alt.

What do you want to haul?

An Iteron V works for bulky stuff that isn't expensive. Cargo expanders = More cargo but on the downside they reduce your EHP and make you easier to kill. Nanofiber Internal Structure II's will cause you to have an EHP loss but they make you align faster.

A blockade runner is great for moving smaller high value cargo.

An Orca is a ship for mining boosting. It can be used for hauling but maybe you're thinking of a freighter like the Charon?

There are other specialized T1 haulers that have bays for Ammo, Minerals etc, Just look at the info of the ship and it will tell you.

Itty V / Bestower / Mammoth , cargo expanders in the lows, carghold rigs, nothing in the mids, don't haul less than 500mil and make sure you only autopilot. Twisted

Yeah, I think you need to first figure out what you plan to haul.. or if it is a variety. Then you can decide how to fit.

Blockade Runners are nice for small loads of cargo that NEED to get from point A to point B safely, no matter where the destination is. Pretty hard to catch a smart pilot in a Blockade Runner, even in null-sec. As mentioned previous, this makes it good for transporting expensive cargo.. as long as you keep paying attention. Covert Ops Cloak in the high, MWD in the mids, at most one cargo expander in the lows mixed with a Nanofiber or similar to help gain speed and agility.

Heavy Hauling ships like the Itty V, Mammoth, Bestower, and Badger are strictly for general hauling. Put some shield modules in the mids, an AB if you can fit it, and fill the lows with Cargo Expanders. Not particularly safe, but can easily haul the most.

Fast haulers (the precoursors to the Blockade Runners) like the Wreathe, Tayra, Sigil, and Nereus are meant to haul smaller cargo to their destination.. well, quickly. You fit it similar to the BRs, only without the Cov Ops Cloak.

The specialized Haulers like the Kyros(minerals), Hoarder(Ammo), Epithal(PI), and Miasmos (Ore, etc.), gets a huge bonus to its special cargo bay (but cargo expanders do not increase the amount you can haul. The advantage to these ships is that you can usually put a decent tank and weapon system on them. No great, but you won't be going down as easily either. Also be sure to fit an AB, because I don't think these really fit a MWD well (though it is preferred).

The Orca is a very nice, but slow (and will be even slower in Rubicon) mining ship that has the unique ability to transport rigged ships through high-sec space without having to make a cargo contract. If you plan on doing any PVP at all, this ship is a critical component. Make sure to put drones in the drone bay and resist mods as well. I also put some medium neuts in the highs, just because they might be useful against tacklers.

Then you have your eventual goal. Yes, if you have a hauler alt, the freighter is your goal. The freighter has no fitting slots, but can hold a lot of cargo. Whereas you should train your main to go with the Orca, train your alt to the freighter. It is just too useful not to have if you are going to do what you plan to do.

Oh, then if you want to be essentially to an alliance, train up to be a jump freighter pilot.. but.. you'll need some iskies for that.

Do NOT use the 'big cargo' haulers. They took the most popular haulers in the game, and made them even easier to gank.

Buy the 'tanky' haulers, and FIT THEM FOR TANK! Do not fit cargo expanders, unless you absolutely have to. They'll only weaken the tanky hauler, and are useless on the more specialized haulers. Fit a cloak. Fit shield extenders & hardeners. Fit EHP (shield recommended) or prop mod cycle time extending rigs. Always fit a DC II. Fit a prop mod, preferably an MWD, and practice the 'MWD/cloak trick' in hisec until it's automatic.

Play around with the fit in EFT. Figure out what kind of tank you can afford/ fit.

Good luck!
