Unfortunately, you are wrong on that account.

Tolerance does not mean you respect or even like something, It means you endure it, mostly because you have to. And it's mostly something bad.

I tolerate a lot of things, high taxes for example, or the construction workers laboouring through the night, right in front of my house. Or my neighbours loud smelly and ugly dog (I hate dogs). Stuff like that.

Hmm. That certainly fits the sound of tolerating something.

I am laughing so hard right now at almost everything you just claimed in your post, but this claim made me laugh the hardest.

Seriously, you really think the Romans had respect for the cultures of people they conquered?

Seriously?

respect isn't the right word. the right word is "tolerance." alexander's macedonians did the same thing. day to day life went more smoothly when a conquered people were able to keep their traditions and their religions and gods. the romans learned this lesson from the study of alexander's legacy of hellenism. so they applied the practice in their own conquests. rarely did they have to intervene due to cultural causes. notable exceptions of this would be judea and syria for example.

Right. Tolerance fits better. For me respect and tolerance going hand in hand. And you are right with Judea. With Syria I do not know.

oh, there were some rowdy greeks there trying to hold onto the last vestiges of the seleucid dynasty. lots of infighting and such. the great empire it once was had fractured into dozens of claimants thinking they were the true culture and blood of their people. but the seleucid kingdoms had always been a melting pot of east and west. the size and scope of it and all the territories within their holdings (which at their height of power stretched from parts of modern day turkey to deep within the indian subconinent) made that a certainty.

but their greatness had seen it's last many decades before all these events finally forced rome to end the squabbling (political and cultural) for good. they dispatched pompey magnus, still abroad in cilicia after a victorious campaign there, to deal with them once and for all. that was pretty much the effective end of the heirs of seleucus and the power they had in the region. rome annexed and provinced syria officially soon after.

history lesson in the boobs thread. who would have thought?

Making males is less fun to do than making females.

Natural curves, elegance and zero to none Schwarzenegger dna makes it alot more creative.

EVE has such a well developed character creation-kit that I'd like to get the most out of it and in my humble opinion, a male character is 'done' quicker, whereas a female requires some careful attention to be made attractive, posable and properly shaped - if that would be your aim at least.

It's like painting pictures: males would represent the abstract art, where you can empty paint cans in a random fashion and say 'hey, that actually looks kind of fun' as opposed to the actual art aka females, where you sit down and do your best to grab the atmosphere of a beautiful landscape or similar - genuinely pretty when finished IF done properly.

That's my reasoning for creating a female, not so much the argument you hear from others (in other games as well) that 'I don't like to spend my virtual time looking at a male avatar'.

History is one of my major hobbies in real life. I guess yours too, when I read your character name.

And why must everyone call this a "boobs thread"? It is not my fault that the guys are so fixated. I only wanted to find out why they create their ingame characters in the same way. Not all of them but most. Too be seriuos: I find many of them very ugly. These skinny things with the big racks and exaggerated make-up and weired faces. If you invest some time you can create a very nice looking (female) character. Yes, now will come the "No-One-Cares-Faction". Okay. But than we need no characters if they have no meaning.

I had nearly the same thoughs by creating a female character (I have a male character, too). I spend hours to create my character with some PLEXes after to change some facial lines here and there. (I am very perfectionist.) I even studied female faces of Japanese models and actresses before (I think the Achura based on Japanese) to make the face realistic as possible. It is not so easy if this is important for you.

Didnt read all the posts but the Roman empire thing made me laugh aswell.

Each person has a reason to create a female character in EVE and indeed the less used is "because it is my gender" (me included), but the looks of a char doesnt really reflect 100% of the times what the owner of it likes or sees fit.

Curvy girls arent possible to be done in eve char creator in a way that they endup like a curvy girl in real life. Either you endup with a stocky or a chubby girl, and the proportions are never likely to match what is expected. So any time you would really take the time to try to make a toon that has curves but isnt sloopy, you may give up and do what endup being best suited, skinny ***** girls with some or no fat, or very defined body.

That is why most female chars have similar build and attributes.

Dear EVE Online players,

When I am bored a little bit I often click around and look at the characters you guys have created. One thing according to the female characters is very ... prominent: It seems you guys mostly like big racks and half naked, skinny bodies.

I know that with a probability of 80 to 90% a man created the character. I am not a feminist. I think this a firstly a questions of aesthetics which of course depends on personal views. But I ask myself is this the imagination you have how a woman should be? This is not an attack on you guys. And I do not want to start a discussion of what you all thing is beautiful. I only wanted to show a conspicuity.

I do not tell you what to do. EVE Online is a free game for which you all pay. You can do what you want. I only wanted to give my opinion.

I suck at all character creators for some reason. I know what I want, but I just can't figure out how to get it done. In desperate times like these I turn to my wife and say, "Honey, would you make me a girl toon? Oh and **** her up." From Rockband, SW:TOR, GW2, and now Eve, my wife gets me.

The only thing disappointing about Eve is how hard it is based on the clothing choicesto even have a girl look like she has a disreputable character, much less a girl who could lecture your urologist on proper examination techniques of your wedding tackle.

edit: It seems the word I used is not allowed by the forum censor. Just imagine what you would call a girl in HS you know was sleeping with all the hot boys.

That is right. The gender is choosen very late in the development of an unborn child. But I think it is more a symbol for fertility. We are all still driven by instincts.

Um what?

I think you need to go do a semester of genetics. Gender is determined at conception (the first moment of the start of a new life), not chosen late in gestation.

Agree, she's kinda "meh".

Mildew Wolf, on the other hand, is kind of in a class of... its... own.

Now Mistress Suki Von-Tess feels somehow familiar...

Biological sex is determined at conception (in 99% or so of cases) and gender is learned after being born.

Only if you do soft science or Arts where 'gender' is a cuddly word used to make us all feel nice and warm.

Real science makes no distinction between sex and gender and they are words interpreted the same, along with many other words that represent the same meaning.
