... gotten liked, because the observer acknowledges the writers opinion,
doesn't that mean that the observer and the writer both have a common thought ?

What does that say about the writer ?

Does him having many common thoughts
make him literally bigger than the sum of his thoughts ?

What if the writer is conscious about this ?

This needs a deeper look.

The observer subconsciously perceives the writer as a sum of common thoughts, or,
more clearly speaking, as somebody people agree a lot with.

Given the writer is conscious about this,
how unlikely is manipulation ?

People tend to keep agreeing to those who get agreed to a lot
or those who are perceived of being in a position of "higher knowledge/power".

This also goes, as you know, hand in hand.

...

Yeah, i know, but how unlikely is manipulation really ??

What about Tippia ? :D
Does anybody remember Akita T ? (always loved reading your posts. ^_^)

"Alice Saki" is ... well, herself. *lol* I'd not want to call her a whore, (on the forums)
but in context of *Likes* it's pretty much the case. Personally, i wished i could ever
pull off 100k likes in such a short amount of time.

It's the first one ever, with the next at distance. ^_^

What about writers "representing" shared interest ? WiS.
Is there a pro-WiS person with a high amount of Likes
due to being the sum of common thoughts?

And if so, where is s/he ?

If we gathered "representatives" together to create a fruitfull discussion, would it help ?

Imagine Tippia starts a thread about whatever controversal topic and completely owns it by logic and analysis,
ending all discussion about it undisbutable and forever.

As Tippia is Tippia, a fewdozens hundreds of people will like her post,
pretty much making her thread a perfect reference to use for the next time the topic comes up.

Assuming they'd link it. That's an "unknown", because - so far - there is not a single thread about any
of all these dead-beaten horses that are made by randoms/trolls in General Discussions.

I am actually certain that, given the maker of the thread, more people will simply end the discussion,
because there i no point in keeping it anyway. All things have been said.

Imagine that.

We could crown Tippia as Queen of the Forums.
As Queen, she needs a King too and i suggest Chribba as the King of the Forums,
because he has AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the data about it. Easily accessible.
He knows his ****. ^_^

And what about that new girl on the forums,
that's working out on the treadmill while mining ?

She keeps pushing into General Discussions.
Interesting to watch. ^_^

Anyhow, the weed turned down.

Oh btw ... did you know that there's a concept called "cheap pops" ?

I know that from WWE, a short explanation about "crowd management".

CM Punk explained it and he's pretty meta. ^_^
He has proven it to be true right on the spot. *lol*

Every time a wrestler on TV mentions the name of the town/city/state they are in, people cheer.
A bonus fun fact to this is that they always cheer, no matter what you talk about.

I'm sure there's a youtube video about this somewhere ..................

You earned a like because I do like the content of your writing. There is, perhaps, a deeper essence to what you ask. If you did not intend as such, that matters not as that is how it was received by me.

It's the stream-of-consciousness philosophy, combined with the Surrealists' Automatic Writing paradigm.

Eh, the eve forums don't matter. All the truly fun subjects aren't even allowed.
Like politics and religion.
And forum moderation.

Man, would I like to start a thread about religion and watch the forums burn. THAT'S a discussion (that will make your brain bleed).

Anyway, the idea that people only receive likes when somebody agrees with them is, of course, wrong. Funny posts get likes even if there's no agreeing happening on a rational level. Then there's the "like and get likes thread" where all the people with many likes post and get (empty, meaningless) likes.

The whole like system is silly. It's basically there to give your social status a numerical value, much like the amount of friends you have on facebook or some other similar site.

I don't have enough likes, therefore I am incomplete. I have not been validated enough therefore I need to reevaluate my postions and stances and model them after the crowd Sad

F------ that!!! Off to LAGL......never mind I can't keep up there Lol

We have had numerous pleasant discussions on religion and politics over the years and a good number of really bad ones. Either way, we can keep them going for a good while in OOPE as long as we are able to keep things cool enough to not get someone to report the thread Bear

Well, somebody agreeing to your sense of humour still sounds like an agreement to me.

Of course, whoring threads make the whole like system absurd,
as i have subtle pointed out by referrencing Alice Saki,
but that doesn't hurt the thread at all.

Anyhow, judging the system is completely pointless. ^_^

Likes are pointless, you can still be shitposter and have tons of likes. It has nothing to do with actual quality of the writing. Just go to GD and look at some of the stuff that gets liked. I take likes with a grain of salt and actually judge the authors content by reading it. And It does seem that if others see a liked post they are more likely to like the post themselves even if its a shitpost

Also...

Popular players get liked more.

The HTFU posts get liked.

The posts that respond rudely to whiners get liked.

The lets all jump on the "whatever the subject is bandwagon" get liked.

The list goes on.

Once again I seem to have given people the impression I was serious when I actually wasn't.

I don't want religion and politics to be discussed on this forum because I've spent time on another forum that revolves around those subjects and I know exactly how messy it gets every time.

I did mean what I said about the like system though. It's still silly.

I care not for spacebook likes.

But if I don't get 1 million likes by the end of the month, my mom wont take me to Disneyland.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
