Can't view "other players networks" on PI Planets

Hi all, I've had this problem since the whole PI mechanic was introduced, but never really cared until I started sharing planets with friends. Now, it's important I don't colonize on top or near where they are with alts.

Yes, I've always selected "view other players networks" by right-clicking on the planet, and checking the whole darn thing for their command centers (apparently only the CC shows and you have to click on it to view the rest), but time and time again I see absolutely *nothing* when I *know* multiple friends have colonized on there.

Is this a graphical bug or is there something else that I need to do to see them?

Believe me, if you see nothing there, there is nothing there. The visible networks are a bit faint, but you will see them.

Enjoy your 'empty' planets.

ed: just for clarity, I think one still only sees the Command Center. When it is clicked on, then the rest of the facility appears. At least that's how it worked when PI started.

-sigh- I knew I'd get this reply. I know for a FACT that I have multiple friends using the same planet. We're in a wormhole with a dozen others using the same planets. And I'm not blind, this is definitely a client bug of some sort. And if you would have read my post, you'd have seen I mentioned the exact same thing you added in your "edit"

By the way, here's another really old post of other people having the same issue:
can't view other networks

Also, I was just given the suggestion of scanning the planet and putting the whole thing in WHITE, so that the little dots (apparently) of the command centers would show up easier. I'll try that after downtime.

I clicked on all my 30 planets a few months ago, they are absolutely all in Low Sec, and saw only about 5 other facilities, which even I found odd.

This may have to do with their proximity to your own Command center now ?

From what I'm gathering on my own Google search here, some kind of change seems to have happened in 2012, but no conclusions either way were resolved in any of the threads.

I'd file a Petition just to at least get a solid answer. With such vague answers from pretty much a solid Google subject result, if there were a clear answer it would be obvious, and obviously posted.

You definitely can see other peoples PI networks on planets as I looked recently. The command centres are VERY faint though so it is difficult to spot them. Not sure why CCP would make them so hard to spot though. Smile

Tip: Adjust the scan so the entire planet appears white. It makes it easier to spot other people's stuff.

::::facepalm::::

This is twice I've gotten replies where I've said the exact same thing people post "help" about....reading is a lost art, I guess.

Also, still not seeing them. Oh well, no biggie.

I still say it has to with proximity to the Command Center. I've only ever seen them around the area of me CC's. Thus if your friend's are on the same planet, they must all be on the other side.

This is just theory of course.

Just did some poking around. I'm currently in a system in Kor-Azor that is not very active. I found 2 facilities on a barren planet by doing the 'white-out'. I honestly could not even see them then until I zoomed in about 80% or so. They will not show up at full-planet view on the screen at all.

Had an alt check out a few planets, even the rare Plasma, in a busy area of Derelik. I could find nothing, which is really hard to believe.

This may be somewhat broken, working on some planets, not on others. (I just will not believe nobody is using that Plasma Planet).

I'm just not gonna worry about it, but it is indeed strange.

They are way too hard to spot, i have 2 chars on same planet and usually its superhard to find the other even if i know its roughly on opposite side of the planet. Even with whiting out whole planet.

Maybe you should ask on the Forums as to whether it's a graphical bug or something.

Boy, you sure told me.

I can see others installations on the planets I've checked. Not a problem here. I would assume you're done the usual drivers and DX updates, played with your graphics settings, etc, even though you didn't mention it above.

This is definitely an issue. I have 4 accounts, with multiple PI characters on each account. They all use the same planets, in the same system. There are planets were I personally have 6-7 command centers between my various alts, and I only see 2-3 of them when I look for them with another character.

So if my own facilities that I know 100% for certain are there, as they belong to my alts, yet do not show, How am I supposed to be sure I am not dropping a CC right on top of someone else's. Is that not the whole point of this function?

Seems broken to me.

Been waiting 3 1/2 years for that fix for the Disappearing POCO Window after Transferring.

Nothing about fixing PI has been a priority ever. At all.

yep... they promised it would get less clicky

just as goddamn clicky as on release

it's not hard

just let me route something to multiple factories with a single keypress or something
